good strong flavor....strong alcohol content too lol I was a one hit wonder ;)

They really are. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the can. One of my top craft brews, Oskar Blues has always been doing cans... and doing them well! But they always positioned it as "packable" in a time when the bottle was king for the craft beer.

Works for me... I can't have a super tasty beer after backpacking all day if it weren't for cans, no one wants to pack out beer bottles!

Yep nailed it... Brewer in Colorado here, however, I am quite beardless. So the correlation isn't totally accurate, likewise most of our brew supply stores are surprised to see female customers. We are changing that...five gallons at a time!

Currently conditioning an apricot blonde ale which should reach supreme tastyness in about 2 weeks! Hoo-ray beer!

I damn near got a six pack of Gaelic ale tonight...but what I really want is some Terapin Rye....not local like the Gaelic...Terapin is made in Georgia...and it has a great taste and packs a punch alcohol wise...

I gotta say...Ashevikle has opened my eyes to the world of beer...and I'm forever grateful...

Having recently returned from Munich, my new favorite is their Oktoberfest beer. It is brewed specifically for the duration of the celebration. :beerbros:

Lately, however, I have taken to mixing 1/2 Guinness and 1/2 hard cider, oh so good and very autumnal

This sounds interesting. This drink is called a snake bite in Scotland but it is a light lager and hard cider, Guinness with lager is called a black and tan. I love Guinness but have never tried this combination.

Much like wine for me, some foods just ache for a beverage of beer to augment the dining experience.

Two groups come to my mind and I enjoy beer as the beverage when I eat them: Thai food goes quite well with a Singha. Perfecto! Indian cuisine is complemented nicely with either a Kingfisher or Zingaro.

A sip of beer with these particular ethnic meals neutralizes heat and brings out the exotic spices in the food for me.

I love Guinness beer and for something lighter Modelo Especial is yummy.

I can't seem to find the Terrapin Rye that I loved sooo much...of course I haven't been to a real ABC store either....

Its either that or force myself to go out for some bluegrass one night and get me one on tap....and I do mean ONE...its a good strong ale and made me tipsy as heck lol

I have been loving Lagunitas IPA on tap for the whole second half of the summer into now. I can't get enough of it! Perfect balance.

The first time I ever had it was in a bar in Detroit, they called it a "Velvet Hammer" because, well, it goes down oh so smoothly but then kapow, your hammered

I love a good black and tan when it is poured correctly.

I'm sooo craving a Pisgah ale...they had it on tap where I got take out tonight. I considered getting one while I waited but I'm not always sure if I will get tipsy...and I had to drive home. But the hankerin is reallll bad now. Asheville made a beer lover of me.... :)

Is wet hops beer any good?

Don't know, but would like to find one to try.

I've had a fresh hop pale ale from Great Divide out here. It was good, nothing spectacular...fresh/wet hops tend to be a little lighter & citrusy. However, tis the hop season and it's definitely a seasonal brew so you'll probably find some around. I prefer hops that sorta punch you in the face, I tend to prefer dry hopping and even dry hopping at the table. I feel like such a fiend.

I hadn't ever heard of wet hops before, so I did some reading after Collette posted. Evidently, there is a difference between wet and fresh hops. Wet are to be used within 24 of harvesting while fresh is within 7 days.

I can't WAIT to start going to bluegrass concerts again. That's the occasion I chose to try the local Asheville beers. There is such an amazing assortment, I had only just begun to explore.

When I worked at the country club, there was a very elderly man that would come in from golfing every day at 10am and get a Highland Gaelic Ale... http://www.highlandbrewing.com/ One day, he came in and the tap was not working and the bartender had to fix it and offered him something else instead. He preferred to put his golf game on hold and wait for the tap to be fixed, he loved this beer that much lol.

I think that will be one of the first ones I try..plus...I love the name!

I would definitely try their Black Mocha Stout. Typically, a lower ABV Stout (like Guinness), doesn't have a solid, or heavy enough taste to me, but recently I had a stout on tap that was low in abv, but heavy in taste. Of course, I don't remember the name. I am wondering if things are moving in this direction with stouts. I LOVE a heavy stout, but the high abv keeps me from having as many as I would like. I am not so keen on the high calories (250-300), either! I admit Russian Imperials are my fav.

My local store lets u buy a six pack of singles....so I got a varied assortment of Highland brewery....angry orchards....a west coast inspired Ipa from Sam Adams and mostly local stuff :)
