I truly believe it depends on the level of harm that will be done. For example, when I was in my addiction, there were things that I did that at this given moment in time is water over the dam. Even though some of those transgressions were against my parents it would do them no good to know that at this juncture of the road. Therefore, I would just leave it be and say nothing. I do believe omission is included in white lies, however. Also as a side note I am grateful to be free from all mind or mood altering substances for 23 years.

True, False, Maybe... I think everyone has good in them, some just choose not to let it out. But, that being said it usually due to such hurt and damage that you can't really dislike them for it.
