late night snack

What a night. Baby girls were chasing something tonight .... a baby frog .... despite my squealing and laughing I managed to get it and put him outside. Poor thing, hope he is okay now.

Hey Galahad, didn't know anyone was reading my saga about Grace. Maybe tomorrow I can post more information.

True, lots of folks having health issues lately. Am reading very interesting book about healing back pain, well all pain. It's about the mind -body connection. Older book, with huge positive reviews.

Ok past my bedtime, good night.

Sweet Bliss 07-22-2013 11:17 AM

Hey y'all, whatcha doing?

Well thought I 'd talk about my projects a bit. Let's see, I finally figured out how to attach the ceiling support. You know the horizontal support. Used 1x2 inside top of window, then attached 1x3 to that. It is at a slight angle so the door skins slide in the gap. Later I will use caulking to seal the remaining gaps. Painted the supports before installing them. Now I have a place to attach curtain rods, etc.

Damn we have a major storm overhead. Heavy rains, lightening, thunder. Sorry, getting distracted ..... gotta go, need warm shirt, am shaking.

Galahad 07-22-2013 01:12 PM

I hope you post a photo of Grace someday. I'm trying to imagine the work, but still wonder. Take care of your back. I don't get enough walking in to help mine get stronger. No one here but me to blame so I'd better get up and get moving now.

I'm back...

Hey there everyone. Hope you all are doing fine. I've been away for some time, but regrouped and back in Nebraska. Here one day and have a job. We are ready to plant roots.

WingsOnFire 07-24-2013 02:25 PM

Just stopping by to share some love... Hope everyone is having an awesome week... Its HUMP day!!!

Galahad 07-24-2013 03:39 PM

So good to see almost everyone here and posting again. Welcome home Lofters. SweetB, thanks for the post on Grace, you have quite a project there. It was much smaller in my imagination. Good luck, it looks fabulous so far.

Sweet Bliss 07-25-2013 09:39 PM

Evening everyone. Just awoke from a much needed nap, a five hour nap to be precise.
I must have really needed the rest. The big dogs kept vigil the whole time. They were thrilled to finally get outside. Knowing they guard even when nature calls is very calming for me.

How is everyone this evening? Galahad, did you imagine my bus was a VW? It would probably be a easier project because of size, but I planned on living in it full time. Before my heart surgery I thought it was doable. Now I don't know. Leaving here next month, so that will be the acid test. My little pack has increased from two to four. So this will be very interesting traveling with them.

When I have access to a computer again I will post more photos from my adventure.

Toodles

Hi Lofters!

Nice to pop in here again and see all the posts. How is everyone?

I caught a cold and am taking care to keep it from turning into anything else.
:cough:

Anyone have interesting plans for the weekend? I might go to a BBQ Sunday.

:bbq:

Galahad 07-26-2013 06:18 PM

Friday, hope all you have a good weekend planned.
SweetBliss, I thought it was more of an rv. I love bus conversions, but that is a lot of work, it's Beautiful though. Take it easy if you can, that long nap might mean you still need to rest and heal. However, we do what we have to. I know heart trouble puts lots of dents in our dreams.
Have fun at the barbecue Licious.
I'm listening to a three cat pile up snoring right now, one will move and then the snoring switches to another, once all three snored in unison for a few seconds. Nothing like life, watching brain cells die.

Sweet Bliss 07-27-2013 07:25 AM

Hey y'all it's yard sale day! !

Headed out the door !!!!!!!!!!

Have fun everyone! !!!!

Licious 07-31-2013 11:28 PM

Hey Lofters,

How are you all? Not much going on here, just recovering health wise and taking care of the kitties etc. Weather dandy of course.

Our city has its annual Old Spanish Days, we call it Fiesta. Four days of locals and 600k tourists drinking margaritas, listening to mariache bands, watching flamenco dancing, and a huge equestrian parade.

I don't really attend it much, too crowded, lol.

What's everyone up to?

Sweet Bliss 08-04-2013 11:38 AM

Happy Sunday lofters. What's every one up to today? Me? Five foot three, that's me!

Oh, let's see, it's hot muggy uggy outside, I scored a wall cupboard with a hidden ironing board inside. It's dirty and ugly but not for long. Just cleaned it, gonna cool off, then paint interior, let dry, then line with wall paper. It's gorgeous with fancy design, cream and white, luscious.

Then will add shelves, cork panels and maybe a small mirror. Will be part of my Femme cave redo. Did you know that Medusa started a Femme cave thread? Check it out. I bumped it, should be easy to find.

We should start a revolution and claim our sacred space

Who's with me?

Bought a gorgeous sink stand, black, for a kitchen, has wide shelf on bottom perfect for large decorative baskets or boxes. Or kitty nap place. Now I can get rid of other less attractive cabinets.

Sweet Bliss 08-22-2013 09:17 AM

Morning peepers, where is everyone? I'm busy as usual. Ran out of insulation for ceiling. Am bummed. Need one more package to finish.

Now I can concentrate on fixing the inside. I need inspiration, so I will pull out my eye candy mags to inspire my creative flow. Wrestled my black cabinet in, it's going to look fabulous with baskets on the bottom shelf. So chic white trash. Wabi Sabi this. Found the cutest kitchen towels, will think about getting for camper kitchen. May go back to SAM'S and get the bright green towels. Or just make my own. Need counter top for black cabinet. Would prefer to make my own tiles, but don't have studio space.

Have a great curly grapevine that I will use as a towel rack. Will look so rustic. Going to hang curtains today, wash windows. Finish some cafe curtains if I can figure out if sewing machine works. Should just buy a new one but I'm frugal .... aka tight. :sunglass:

Okie dokie y'all chat with you later!

lusciouskiwi 08-22-2013 09:42 AM

Goodness you sound busy Sweet!

My dog is sleeping on her nice big cushion. She hasn't started snoring yet though. :)

Not sure what I'll get up to this weekend although I have a mountain of paperwork to get completed before the end of the this month. Sexy. Not.

MysticOceansFL 08-30-2013 10:02 PM

Have a great three day week end E/everyone

Hello Loft friends,

I hope that everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Nic 09-04-2013 03:48 AM

Just found this thread. Guess I qualify for the over 50 crowd. Somebody bunch over so I can squeeze in my walker. LOL At least that's how I think it's gonna feel when I get my arse out for my run after taking the last 4 days off. By the time I hit the turn around point I'm gonna be feeling every one of those 52 years.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi Jay,

I'm pretty new myself. I think I saw a forum for people from each of the individual states (as well as other places). Not sure where but if you keep asking someone will point you in the right direction. In the meantime, just keep posting. I found people were pretty quick to say hello and point me in the right direction. I found a couple who are pretty good at making me laugh from time to time too.

Nic

allyson 09-14-2013 11:57 PM

I'm new here and trying to figure out how things work! I'm 50+, a "femme", teacher. Hello everyone!

PoeticSilence 09-15-2013 03:01 AM

Downhill slide to 52 in November. We don't generally celebrate birthdays but that's my number so I can squeeze in here. SweetBliss that's a great reno project you are doing. The wife and I have half-seriously talked about selling it all and then taking off in a rv. That's usually on the days we AREN'T talking about getting a little acreage and raising chickens. Or living on a houseboat. We can't seem to decide on what we want to do.

I became disabled three months ago, so a lot of those ideas are pretty moot. But a reno bus sounds sweet, you can easily fix wheelchair ramps through the back door. (laughing) I'd just need someone stronger than my wife to push me up them.

I live in Nebraska, in Omaha. Lived here most of my life and I love it here. My arthritis says it's time to get out of dodge though, so we'll see. If you feel a little nostalgic, maybe do some shopping here: http://www.goodolddaysstore.com/

Sweet Bliss 09-27-2013 06:14 AM

Good morning lofters

Well actually PS, what you would want instead is one of those lifts at the back door. That way you can get in and out by yourself if you want. Much safer for your wife I would think. And if in emergency situation much better for you and her.

There is a large group of all women out of Arizona that travel together. No one travels alone, they do it for recreation and some make their living on the road. The women I talked to said they gave up their six figure jobs to live on the road full time. Said it saved their relationship.

Well, my redo has hit a big snag. All that insulation is not helping with the heat factor. Not sure if it is because a portion is unfinished or I've done it wrong. Either way it is not going to be livable year round at this point. Will buy a couple more units, finish ceiling and hope for the best. Not a happy camper right now.

Finished another set of curtains made from my grandmother's fancy pillow cases. In keeping with my feminine vintage decor. Gonna hit restore this weekend, look for scrap lumber. Still working on how to create unique storage and three cat lofts. MiMi loves to hide all over the place. In drawers under the bed, in-between my quilts. She has scared the crap outta me more than once.

Coffee is ready, join me?

Sweet Bliss 11-02-2013 08:28 PM

Almost Sunday :)

Howdy Loft E Peepers!

Well how y'all doing?

I have been busy painting furniture, window frames, statues, plant stand, fiber glass pots, store signs, etc. Ya, been mucho busy lately. Oh, and also put a high gloss protective coat on the little bamboo bath stand I got at auction. Have started gluing mosaic tile on the three shelves.

Found the perfect high gloss paint in pale sage type colour for two bucks at ReStore. Its for the hideous mailbox. I will take before and after photos. The wicker chair I repainted looks brand new again! ! One arm needs repair, which I will fix as soon as I find a good wicker supplier. Yes, I am a woman of many talents. :rainsing:

Oh, and scored 14 gorgeous rugs for a buck fifty a piece ..... retail price? fifty bucks each! !!

Beat that tighwad fans :cheer:

Thank you Sir Galahad!

I will wake up before dawn on the 57th anniversary of my birth tomorrow.

I am so grateful for all my gifts and blessings.

Thank you all for joining my celebration of life.

Happy_Go_Lucky 11-12-2013 06:54 AM

Sweet Bliss,

Top o' the mornin'. I can commiserate with you about rehab. Just this week I am having a decorator begin the tedious process of making a silk purse out of a sows ear. More succinctly, "covering up" old and tired looking wood paneling in 3 rooms. I am eager to see the results. Good luck on your re-do.

Sweet Bliss 11-13-2013 06:06 PM

Hello Lofty folks!

Lord am I tired! Been putzing around doing this and that. Repurposed four faux suede curtains. Turned them horizontal, added tabs on top, voila'! perfect size for Grace's windows. The yard sale rods look fabulous with my new curtains. Sewed casing in canvas painters cloth, now i have fab heavy curtain for windshield area.

On Pinterest someone pinned these beautiful hand painted pillows, look like water colours. So gorgeous. Well, according to an enterprising woman we can create the same effect with sharpie pens and rubbing alcohol. Guess what I just purchased?? Yep.

Call me loony, but i am going to have some fabulous soft furnishings.

Finished re-painting bathroom door leading to garage. Two coats of lovely pale blue. used large floor fan to speed up the drying process. It needs some kind of sumpin. It's too plain. Painted wall behind toilet. not sure what I will do to spruce up that area.

Earlier I used a stencil to create a soft floral design. Didn't like it at first. am thinking it needs a different touch. Not sure about the effect I want. Will dream about this.

I'm hungry... did more stuff ..... mint tea sounds good.

Not much of a camper type but what a treat for the women who enjoy that kind of thing.

No dogs....say what?!

What self respecting licensed and registered lesbian has no pooches? :shocking:

5's company

All five of my hairballs shed their fur at my place.

The GD dog is the newest childrenz knowing that the oldest rescue was on her last leg. The old girl had been limping, sluggish. Being 14, well you know....

By a sheer miracle however, old limpy was replaced with a bouncy dog full of vigor and sudden mischief when The German Shepard pup arrived. Alas! a spring in her 14 year old paw and doesn't meet a ball (or round object) she won't chase.

Having a young 'un around has evidently been her Fountain of Youth.

Lots of fun at your place! Little Mister is old and disabled now. He has 3 cat sisters. They love him because he never chases them. He is the baby. Cause he needs the most care. Cats are, well, cats.

Post pics of your babies in the pet gallery if you wish, am sure I am not the only pet lover here.

Realizing how fortunate I am.

The only thing that is ticking me off right now is that my neighbor is NOT picking up his leaves!

I have been mulching, raking, raking and mulching.
What good does this do when we have 40 mph winds today?

My point and I DO have one (besides the one I put a cap on) is that my life is so calm and relatively peaceful (less dealing with a pervert) that my biggest complaint is my neighbors leaves????

Life is good for me. Any complaints would be a huge fat prevarication! :)
