My 33rd book is now available on Amazon!!!! I am still querying my 34th book, I really do need to get myself an agent..... But I am excited that my latest book of poetry is available in book form and worldwide on Kindle.

I finished a friend's poetry manuscript at lunch, sitting at this little park with a big fountain near City Hall, and then emailed comments to him and he said, "You so get me," and "I thank you with all my heart." I forget that people who are so much more accomplished than me and whose talent is huge, need understanding around their work too.

I did some of the little bullshit writing I do at work. Okay, it's not bullshit, but not exactly exciting. But I tried to do it well.

I made a proposal to my boss, something kind of unorthodox that I want to do for my own staff development this year instead of traveling to a conference. I want to hang out with people who do what I do, in other institutions in our system, and blog about it, and he went for it. I think I'll learn more from them than some expert on national trends, not that the trends aren't valid.

I rode my bike for an hour and a half, taking a three-mile loop around a park I love, and chasing down the longest, straightest bike trails I know of close by here.

I sent in an application to get someone an honorarium, someone who's pinch-hitting for someone else who bailed on us, in this little reading series I run with a friend.

I made popcorn. I consider that a valid accomplishment. But note to self, Stop being cheap popcorn.

I laid out my clothes for tomorrow, and set out my coffee ready to make in the morning and assembled my lunch (the parts are already in little containers that I take with me all week till they're gone). I'm mothering myself, making things as easy as possible for myself.

I invited a friend to go to this Meetup thing Friday night but she can't go, but we emailed a little and I feel like our small connection is healthy and that's an accomplishment.

I put new shoelaces in my biking shoes. They've needed them for years.

My accomplishments are not exactly fascinating, but they keep me going.

Finished two more sections of insulation on ceiling.
Fed 7 pets twice
cleaned two litter boxes
Cut down errant bushy stuff around azalea tree, filled huge box with trimmings, dragged to street for pick up
took trash to road, took household trash to bin
Put recycling in bin,
cleaned one of several cabinets under counter, sprayed, pulled out aluminum pans to recycle.
Took trash I gathered from backyard to road for pickup, and unused drainage tubes.
filled holes made by broken gutter during rain storm, placed planters over roots sticking out of the ground so I won't trip on them again
cooked breakfast for roomie, bacon, omelette with cheese
cleaned up mess from insulation
Did three loads of laundry
Painted giant basket white for new pet bed
Fixed plant stand, was falling apart
cut fabric to make new skirt

See, there is no butch at this residence. Just a femme. This femme. Who wants some respect. Appreciation. A night out to dance. Breakfast out on Sunday. Coffee on the beach at sunrise. Fresh flowers. Gift card for Joanne's maybe.

Am tired and sore, I want to soak in a hot tub of bubbles and lavender. A glass of Sangria. A foot massage ......

I worked with my HR people at my employment and was granted a weeks delay for my termination (yeah for another week of insurance!).

I was able to get some final goodbyes taken care of with some of my coworkers over the phone, that's an emotional deal I wasn't expecting.

I got in touch with an old friend who offered to help me get through some of the processes for disability, I'm very thankful for that because it seems very daunting, I have no clue how people manage it.

I spent some quality time with my wife that did not have to involve discussions or bills or what we had to get done or dealing with medical crap. We did something for ourselves that included ice cream and a movie.

Spent an 8 hour work shift talking with friends on here and via text, buying airline tickets, and doing all my initial discussion posts for my classes on-line.. Can not move further until I get my books now, and waiting on school for that!

Why yes, I sit at a desk overnight with nothing else to do  Get paid to do other stuff that needs to be done? Sure, why not!

agape 08-22-2013 05:10 AM

I got out of bed... eventhough I didn't have to...
I cooked delicious food for myself... out of an almost empty fridge...
I'm even doing the laundry!
wow.... :police:

actually reflecting on yesterday, a day in the life of me...

1 12 hour shift. This is one of the slowest months for my type of business so it's a struggle to keep busy and make my day go by.
Wore denim to work, due to the fact it's back to school and we are trying to push denim. Mind you it's still very hot here and wearing long pants is just miserable.
However, I'm a team player and will do what ever it takes to make $$$!
Had a conversation with a customer who recently took 3 grand kids to college and was explaining her adventure shopping for dorm stuff, just days before classes actually started. Now that was interesting, because I've never had to do that. Hmmm, things in life I don't see. I get to hear about it thru others:)

Another fun and heartwarming conversation with 5 little girls who came in together with, maybe their guardians? They were all foster kids. I bent over and got to their level and chatted about the one who had missing front teeth, and then about the tooth fairy and how she comes into the house. How excited they were to start school. Who was their favorite princess? I could talk with kids all day long. And it helps to keep them distracted so their parents can shop! ( how I've learned that trick!)

Rearranged 75% of the store. Oh, how I love to move things, it's the interior decorator in me. And the fact that change is a good thing for many reasons :)

Hung 200 new tops. And you know when you do that, you have to try on and ogle. Look at some things and think, " what were they thinking? " UGLY! A few pairs of shoes got slipped on as well.

Working on promoting and train a part timer to my asst manager. Who, received flowers on her car. To be 18 again, and be giddy. It was fun to watch her emotions work. Lol, my staff keeps me young!

Finally, the day was over and came home to watch my recorded episode of Big Brother , along with a conversation with a friend about it.

A whole lot of nothing much.......

easygoingfemme 08-22-2013 10:45 AM

Got the kid to theater camp, on time.
Washed bedding.
Got some serious progress on rolling out a new detox program I'm running for work.
Swept up the daily mountain of pet hair.
Typed client notes.
Started this list... it's 1pm. Hopefully will have a much longer list by bedtime!

willow 08-23-2013 11:53 AM

Big declutter session. Filled a double size black bag for the charity shop and 2 for the bin. Out of the 6 pairs of shoes I paired and tied for bagging up, I only retrieved one pair! :blueheels:

Went to my follow-up diabetic doctor appointment.. She is very straight forward, and a little funny. Wasn't sure about her at first but I am really appreciating the no-bullshit approach she has.

Got all my college textbooks and was able to rent two and buy one used so it saved me a good $150-ish.

Had Subway for lunch [have been eyeing DD iced coffee] and we got ingredients to make homemade Alfredo sauce, and a new recipe for meatballs.

Tried to pick up test strips for my new prescribed meter.. was informed my medical insurance is listed as terminated.. Out of pocket is $100. Nothing wrong with my current one except my doctor can't download the data. Have to call HR on Monday and find out WTF, because you bet your ass I have insurance!

Now it is time to do some more homework, though I realllllllly want to nap.

:byebye:

Sprayed down her microwave to clean it...then forgot :| (I gotta call my mom)

Got home

Switched the laundry

Enrolled in school again...this time it's official like

Yoga! I did the yoga, weeeee. I'm trying to feel accomplished even though it's not much since my joints are acting up :/

Bèsame* 08-25-2013 12:05 PM

whew....

I washed my car. And I'm happy to report I can reach the top if I stand on my toes.

Did a little gardening. Clipped back the garlic Lillie's. I can still smell the scent on my fingers. Then I played a little with the garden hose. It's one of my favorite pastimes. Bare feet and a water hose, I can entertain myself for awhile.

Folded the sheets and towels, and another load in.

Staying in the office and turning on the sewing machine. Some quilting is going to get done today!

What have you accomplished today?

CherylNYC 08-25-2013 01:14 PM

Besides all the usual, everyday stuff, I finally got to work on the shrubs on my back deck that were in pots damaged by Hurricane Sandy. It was a low priority considering my gutted first floor, but now that it's mostly back together on the inside, I don't feel quite as guilty about re-beautifying the outside.

There was 5'-6' of salt water in my backyard, and the deck was submerged. Salt water impregnated the the bottom 8" of those giant clay pots which disintegrated over the subsequent months. I now have beautiful and healthy rosemary, evergreen and blueberry bushes. Most importantly, my precious miniature lavender rose bush given to me by my late partner a dozen years ago, which has seen more than it's share of travails, is very happy in it's new and beautiful home.

Hollylane 08-25-2013 02:23 PM

Absolutely nada, and I have no intention of accomplishing anything today, other than picking up a new bag of dog food for Chessie...AND...I am not ashamed. :)

PoeticSilence 08-26-2013 02:46 AM

My son Lucas (my wifes oldest boy) ended up with appendicitis, so I figured he might not be going to work for a few days til the stitches heal up, hence ordering him a new book delivered to his kindle. And....yeah, that's all I got done.

Daktari 08-26-2013 03:41 AM
