I walked 2.40 miles this morning. We had a little rain earlier and it's windy. Feels good.
I walked at a street fair today. Total for day: 8,500 steps, 3.5 miles.
I'm getting in as many street fairs as I can before the winter hits. I love the grilled ears of corn that are easy to nibble while walking. |
Today was 9,500 steps just from work :praying:
We had a fire drill, and that helped. |
I only did 1.10 miles. I'm feeling a little tired.
Nothing today but I rode my bike 200 miles over the weekend. I think I can take a break now for a while :)
While mom is having chemo I walked 5.70 miles.
9,500 steps. I walked to the grocery store and home from the training I was at and picked up my ipad from the gym to recharge it.
After getting 7-8k steps per day for the last five days it was good to be home today and get out and stretch my legs a little bit. It was only a so–so tide but I did get 16,000 steps today and feel much the better for it.
Sounds like easygoing had a banner weekend and can take as much of a break as she wants. |
I've been struggling to get a consistent amount of exercise done each day, but nevertheless there do seem to be some signs that my rather poor fitness levels might be starting to improve a bit.
Knowing that walking is supposed to be one of the best and easiest forms of exercise for all-round health, I've been trying to do a certain amount of exercise on my stepper machine each day, as well as a little Tai Chi and some very light use of dumbbells. Due to the weakness of things around my ankles, though, I find using the stepper tougher than actual walking and was interested to see this latest video from SciShow about the "how many steps a day" thing and exercise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyrCPi3cTjw I found this heartening because it means I've been doing somewhat better than I'd thought, but also means I can shift focus away from the stepping and more onto other low/no impact exercsie that will get my heart rate up. |
I mowed the backyard with the push mower and got 1.20 miles! It puts a good spin on mowing.
I was at work from morning to night, so thankfully I got 10K while doing my work. Kind of makes me less bitter about needing to stay so long.

I finally got my pedometer up and running last night in preparation for today, which was my first outing to the Scituate Art Festival. It's sooo much walking even though I got a sweet parking spot in the midst of it all. I didn't put on the pedometer until I got there and took a picture of the steps when I left so I'd know exactly how much walking I did there alone. I walked 8674 steps from 10am-2pm. That's pretty decent, I think, considering it was almost exclusively casual meandering on my part and I'm not good with walking long distances. I also went to Wally World and Michael's and JoAnn's afterwards and let the pedometer keep ticking. I'm close to 14500 steps now and will cross at least 15000 steps before I call it a night.
Kelt, you can KEEP these high step days! For those of you who don't know me, I have a very short stride so I get 2-3 steps for every one of you long-legged people. I feel like I'm a 7000-7500 step a day person so today hurt. My tootsies are in the bubble bath as I type. I also have a blister, dammit. That started around the 3000 step mark but I persevered. |
It's not even 11am and I've got in 4500 steps. I had to get up before the sun to meet the contractors and I walked around my work property to make sure no one was there so they didn't get trapped once the crew started and then I was up so I meandered around the house a bit and here I am.
Tired. I see a nap in my future. |
My nephews and I took a walk today. I took turns with Slayde pushing Carter's stroller. I didn't start keeping track of steps until we were already walking. Once I did we walked a mile.
I'm having fun with my pedometer. I'm at 6906 right now and will definitely get in well over 7000 steps by bed time. I did some manual labor today too.
It was a day off and I spent most of it standing in one place, working on a project, so I got bupkiss for steps. I won't even hit 2000 by day's end.
I made a pact with myself to go for at least a short walk every day, and so far this week I have done it. Only two days but it's a start!!!
I've been running errands and walking a lot today so my total right now is 8050. I'll get in another few hundred steps in before I call it a night.
I got 10K yesterday at work and am at 9,300 now, so I'm really happy with that.
Today, yesterday, and the day before have all been 10K steps just from work. I am happy about that. The fitbit is fun. It's like a videogame. Very nerdy.
I'm around 8000 now and will get another hundred or so in before bed. Not bad since I got a very late start to the day and had less time to get them in.
Walking....no idea how many step.
10,688 steps currently with another hundred or so expected before bed. Work day!
I hand pedaled a mile today.
Baby steps. :cowboy: |
Yesterday was a few hundred over 7K and today was 9K. This new job I have don't play when it comes to the steps required, and I love that!
I got almost 10,000 steps in today and 7000 something steps yesterday. Pretty good!

I’ve been delinquent about reporting in.
I just reviewed my last week and things have been varied. I had a couple of days buried in paperwork where I was only getting maybe 4000 steps a day and then the tides were pretty lousy so I would only get about half of the beach done but then I would add a little time on lagoon trails, so I had a few 15,000 step days in there. Yesterday and today I’ve had good midday tides so I’m back at 20,000+ per day. It feels good to get back into my routine. Lots of changes on the beach, it seems like every three or four days a new type of bird comes into town or something else is washed up onshore for a bit. I had a couple of evenings where the tide was so late that I just stayed through sunset. As it turns out right at sunset is high season for photographers around here, lots of family and individual portraits being taken and I have to say I’ve seen some pretty amazing work being done. Who knew? I thought in the era of selfies that portraiture had died off. Alive and well here.. |
Yesterday was 11K steps and today was 8K. They were from work. I caught a cold today and feel horrible. Yet the work must go on, so some degree of walking must go on.
Friday I got some beach time in and the day totaled 16k
Yesterday was mostly spent with a contractor, so 6k Looking at a 3:30pm minus tide today so I hope to be out there for it. :cheesy: |
I still have my cold but it's not too bad. I got 10K steps in at work today. Woohoo!
Today was 7000 steps (work). I am still tickled by counting my steps!
Today was 8402 steps. :)
Today I went on my walk and forgot my pedometer! I really want to know how many steps it is. Tomorrow.
I got 10K total, 8K at work, and 2K chores at home (in our 725 sq foot apt). Feels great to hit 10K.
The last three days have been 18k, 15k, & 15k
When the sunset and low tide are at the same time I don’t quite get the whole thing. I did get some pretty good pics though! |
joined a gym a week ago
I just keep re injuring myself I'm addicted to exercise, but I keep hurting myself So I have a program, and need to start from scratch. |
9K steps at work 1K steps at home = 10K steps! Always happy for 10K.
5K steps at work and 4.5 K steps at home = 9.5K steps total. My steps at home were all just doing chores and cleaning and such. It amazes me that in 725 sq feet I can get that many steps just going about my business after work (after work until midnight because I'm a night owl). I have an ADHD quality that exhibits itself at home where I am always moving around doing something. It helps my steps!
15K at work and around town - go, Jen, go! Unfortunately going back to work (the loss of sleep, the stress) has led me to regress with being sick. Ugh, doctor again tomorrow. I may need another round of steroids and antibiotics. Frustrating, but this is not the worst illness, just lingering.

I'm not getting in as many steps as most of you here are logging, but my brother-in-law, my sister-in-law's husband? He helped me out by taking his table saw and cutting off a portion of a beach-wood walking stick, and found a rubber tip, like you'd see on a table chair leg (of sorts) and made a nice cane for me to use, while walking.
It's safer than the walking poles my physical therapy team gave to me last August (2018), and I am finding that walking with my new cane is easier than what I have been using for the past year. I'm getting better, slowly, but slow wins the proverbial race in my world. *lol* It was three years ago that I rode 21 miles per day, and rode longer on the weekends, just for sheer joy. I feel a spark in my soul when I read about easygoingfemme riding her bike or rowing or how Kelt walks the beach or how nycfem and Gemme get in all those steps. I guess how I make up for not being able to walk like others, is I go to the pool and do the leg exercises and such, like I did in swim therapy with my PT team. So that's how I am able to improve the muscles in my legs (from my hips down). Water-based exercise therapy is helping me so much. I only go on the weekends, but I do get in a small amount of walking each day at work and when I'm at home. I have the stairs too; one long set of stairs to get to my floor level, and sometimes it is tough to go up or down them and not lose my balance. Happy Exercising to all the exercisers here. And wellness wishes to nycfem and Gemme and anyone else who isn't feeling well. Speedy recovery to all of you! :bunchflowers: |
