Hello everyone :)

It's been a busy day...conference calls, agendas to write, minutes to update and wrestling with a spreadsheet.

Time for iced coffee (or hot for those in colder climates) and a nice hot apple turnover! :eating:

:gimmehug: Hope you're all having a good day!

Just wanted to come in and say hi to everyone ~ been fighting a cold and a sore back so I haven't been around much but I'll try to come by and visit more often :)

Zimmeh 11-30-2010 07:56 PM

Thank you!! At first, when they took her to the hospital, they thought she had crushed vertebrae, and they had to cut the glass from the glass window out of her. I haven't been able to get ahold of her today, so I will see if my mom has heard anything. I feel bad for the girl, she stopped off at the tire store on her way to my mom's house to pick up my niece. When she didn't show up, my mom called her and that is how we found out. Hopefully she will be able to go to her daughter's dance squad show in the Christmas parade this coming Saturday..

Have a good night and how are you feeling?

Zimmy

Zimmeh 11-30-2010 07:59 PM

How are you feeling today? When I was in high school in PA, the art teacher had us do three point drawings of a city. To this day, I can still do it and I love doing it.

I am thinking once this semester is over, I might just do a three point drawing.

Have a good night,

Zimmy

Thank you for the well wishes.. I am hoping if I go to bed early.. and take some stuff before I do so.. I will wake up tomorrow headache free. smiles.

Aleve is on the agenda. I normally take Advil.. and I also have 800mg of Ibuprophen in the house too.. I had forgotten about Aleve though.. and have used it before with good results.. so if I wake up tomorrow with the same pounding.. I will head up to the pharmacy and get some. Thank you.

scoote.. I am glad you are starting to feel better. Well I am sure the hood vent being down and you breathing all that nasty stuff in.. did not help your head at all.. let alone your lungs. .. even with the ventilation of having the doors open. The headaches just stink because they just knock the energy right out of you.

laughs @ the innocent look.. and chocolate cake sounds goooooood. However, I am thinking I might do some french pressed goodness..

Get better soon, scoot

small talk, neuroticdog going nuts on floor, finally on bed

her: ur a grumpy ol bitch :|

her: now your a grumpy ol mean ass bitch
me: wanna go to breakfast

and thats how my day started

katsarecool 11-30-2010 08:07 PM

Well I hope she will be ok!!!

Doing ok. Now. Earlier (around 5ish) we had some hellacious weather pass over my county here in Georgia. Three bad thunder storms (two with rotations on Doppler radar) converged south of the small town where I live. A few houses were destroyed not too far away. No injuries thankfully. For 45 minutes while all this was going on all my joints and most muscles were on fire. Low barometric pressure can affect injured body parts and I sure felt it. So in the middle of all the storms I took a pain pill, turned on the electric blanket, covered my head and went to sleep. Probably not a wise thing to do. LOL

Hope everyone is doing well!!!! and please I could use a cuppa hot chocolate now... with marshmellows please....

One massive cup of Godiva hot cocoa with marshmallows. Glad to read that no one was hurt during this storm. They had an earthquake off of the coast of Eastern Long Island sometime today.

Have a good night,

Zimmy

Sounds like an eventful day, and not all in a good way! Glad to hear that you're okay kats...and hope everything goes well for you tomorrow with your exam Zimmy...

You should all know that Scoote was ad-libbing (a tiny bit) in her post...I did go to cuddle and not to wake her up. The rest, however, was true :giggle:

You're all so artistic and crafty and stuff...I'm impressed! I can knit and crochet, but only a little...and I can sew on buttons and hem if I must...and couldn't paint or draw to save my life. I can cook and bake, and that's about it! :)

Not only did my Sweetie take me out to breakfast, but to dinner as well....and I'm stuffed with the best Reuben I've had in ages. Yummy! :eating:

Time to go tuck the Rooster in....back later. :gimmehug:

...and :kissy: to you baby....I love you :love1:

scootebaby 11-30-2010 08:27 PM

i can pay someone to do all those things....or if im feeling cheap just "negotiate"with Jo

Good Morning Zimmy, (yes here I am at 1:40am with insomnia)

I am feeling better.. the headache seems to have finally left.. I ended up getting some Aleve and using that.. it worked better than the high dose of Ibuprophen.. who knew? laughs.. well obviously you did..

I loved Art class in school and college. I have always been an appreciator of the Arts.. and could walk through galleries upon galleries.. in fact I took a vacation once and that was all I did.. was visit any Art gallery or museum that I could find..

you should do a three point drawing.. then take pics we can see it.. grins.. see Me and My ideas.. always finding work for you.. just like the wrangler for the Christmas Cards.. laughs..

I hope you had a peaceful night.

As Always,
Jake

Hi Jake: Glad that your headache is better!!!! A drawing experiment that I want to take part in is to do a portrait of someone with the reference photo upside down! It is said that doing it this way will make the portrait more lifelike and accurate. The reasoning is that if we are doing something familar we often do not see the entire picture, which makes sense. Rather like walking the same way to work or the store. The first time, one sees many things. But over time, we miss a lot. Anyone else want to try it?

JakeTulane 12-01-2010 01:27 AM

Hi kats,

Thank you for the kind words.

The experiment you speak of sounds interesting. I was sitting here trying to think if I had ever tried that before.. even with basic sketching, and I have not. I am also surprised given I have taken Art in school and college none of My professors and/or teachers ever had us try this method. It totally makes sense.. given the reasoning you shared. Anything done over and over.. we are bound to miss something, indeed. For one because we never see the true "big picture". That is why when I sketch, paint, etc.. I always stand back a million times and try to see it in "full view". I also go through ALOT of paper. laughs. I hate to think how much of that I have thrown away over the years.. just because 'one' thing was off. It is also the reason it takes Me forever to finish a project..

I think I could give it a shot.. so are we talking..just a basic sketch of something simple to start out with?

ALSO.. this is NOT in any way getting Zimmy out of doing the 3-point drawing.. if she decides to participate. laughs.

The experiment spoke of just portraits. I imagine it could pertain to anything. Often when doing watercolor paintings I have my easel board upside down to get the values to sink into the underside of an object; have that color run deep the closer it is to the underside of the object. Isn't it fun to talk about art and techniques? Have a great night and I hope you are able to get some sleep tonight!

Zimmeh 12-01-2010 04:28 AM

Good Morning Jake,

I will see what I can do about the drawing. Speaking of the Christmas Card list, I am sending it out in a few minutes.

Have a wonderful day,

Zimmy

I think Scoote was born ornery :sunglass:

Hope everyone's having a good day...I took the dog to the groomer (Scoote has been calling him "ass breath" again....so he needed it), lubricated the garage door (which has been sticking halfway up and being generally annoying), went grocery shopping, and am slow cooking brisket for dinner....OH...and I worked too :)
