Forgot to add this to my previous past...

When things get too overwhelming i drive up to the mountains for some meditation time atop Waterrock Knob or Richland Balsam (pics of both are in my gallery) - the two highest places along the Blue Ridge Parkway...:ohm:

Watching all the beautiful bluebirds [from my porch and window] who have called our yard and trees home. This is the first time in my life that bluebirds have chosen to nest so close. It's a thrill to watch them and a special treat to see their flash of color and watch their antics (even if it means my car has birdie poop all over it).

Sitting hear enjoying a late breakfast while listening to all the birdies.... music to my ears.

You have Bluebirds? OMG that is so cool! i don't have anything over here except Robins, Cardinals, Finches, Sparrows, Grackles, Crows, Mockingbirds, Red-shouldered Hawks and Barred Owls...

i miss Blue Jays, Bluebirds and hummingbirds - won't put out a hummingbird feeder because it attracts yellow jackets, wasps, bees etc. and i am deathly allergic to them...

justpjhere 04-10-2011 11:57 AM

peace

floating on the bay in the sailboat and listening to the water against the boat....everything wrong kinda gets made right...

Diva 04-10-2011 12:01 PM

This may sound totally silly & redundant......but PEACE gives me peace.....

Just knowing that in spite of it all, everything's going to be ok.....a quiet Sunday morning....Ottmar Liebert playing in the background....a wonderful cup of coffee....and painting......knowing I am loved.....knowing I am LIKED.....all of those things give me peace.

Life is good.

peace...
i try to make my own peace... until my own mind gets in the way.
riding up the mountain up to Lake Lure for the day, or week, or....
an 8 year old boy with lots of swagga, laying in my lap.. unbelievable peace.
my writing, even the dark ones give me peace.
having the house to myself, and surrounding myself with loud music.
the company of someone exquisite... beyond peaceful.
the love of my best friend and sistah gives me unconditional peace.
i find peace when i fly... then drop deep.

lionpaw 04-10-2011 01:58 PM

Peace....

That my peace always begins with me....

My relationship with my wife......

Hearing the sounds of nature around us.......The geese flying overhead.....The crickets in the evening....

Love coming from our dearest friends.....

Guy 04-10-2011 02:01 PM

Hearing the kids in the pool next door screaming marrrrrcooooo polooooooooo.

Confirming that my favorite time of year has finally arrived.

Being on the water

The sound of the motor at top speed

Hearing the wake pounding against the bow

Being surrounded by the beautiful Gulf waters

I just asked Blade "what is a Red-shouldered Hawk? I've heard of Red-Tailed Hawk....but Miss Scarlett says we have Red-shouldered Hawks here?
his response: :eyebrow: :seconddoh: She must'a been looking at them upside down.

OK...i admit i may be a bit challenged when it comes to things like pipe insulation and closing car windows...but i know enough to know that looking at hawks upside down only tells you if they are a boy or girl....wait, that's cats and dogs and you lift their tails...LOL

Seriously - here's a photo

They do exist...LOL

They do exist...LOL

And they are seemingly such talented creatures

By the time they are five days old, nestling Red-shouldered Hawks can shoot their feces over the edge of their nest.

Soft*Silver 04-11-2011 09:03 AM

listening to horses eat their evening meal

baking a batch of cookies

mixing potting soil

feeding the birds on a cold winters morning

painting my toenails to match my fingernails

pulling out summer clothes and having them all fit or be loose

eating a cantelope that is warm and juicy

water lapping on my ankles as I watch a child play in it

going thru the many cards I have kept over the years from various people for various reasons

coffee on the front porch very early on a very hot summer day

remembering love not gone wrong

Andrew, Jr. 04-19-2011 01:45 PM

What gives me peace...

*Swimming

*Sending out cards

*Meditating/Praying

*Fishing

*Birdwatching

*Gardening

*Loving on my furkids

Soft*Silver 04-19-2011 02:54 PM

sitting quietly and reading a good book with the old kitty in my lap

calling an old friend and refreshing our acquaintance

praying

honey in my hot tea

my town is called the city of churches and I love to hear the church bells ring...I find myself listening for them throughout the day

femmedyke 04-19-2011 03:06 PM

music, particularly with an acoustic guitar.

Sweet_Amor_Taino 05-24-2011 10:01 PM

Peace of my and soul

A warm morning shower
Sitting on my balcony early in the monring drinking a cup of coffee.
Watching the hummingbirds visit me and enjoy their meal
Chanting and reciting morning and evening Gongyo ( Buddhist prayers)

Tommi 05-24-2011 10:08 PM

Create

stark white linen canvas

Squeezing a strip of color onto a palette

swiping a clean sable brush through it

that first stroke on a blank canvas

somewhere from within an image

a painting is born

Venus007 05-24-2011 11:05 PM

Deep peace givers. . .

Acceptance
Releasing desire
Calm knowledge that it all ends one day

NorCalStud 05-25-2011 01:02 AM

Giving a good spanking and all that juicy stuff

ruthie14 05-25-2011 04:19 AM

The ocean... which I haven't seen for far too long. Will be rectifying that soon!
