"Revenge is a dish best served cold."
Revenge works well when the target least expects it. I would say this is very true! |

I don't think think sort of imitation bodes well anymore but it's interesting how certain cases of imitation brought about Plagiarism law. I understand the idiom, but I often wonder why anyone would accept imitation when, I'm guessing, the quirkiness of reality might be far better??? |
Starve a cold, feed a fever...
The best way to treat a cold is to skip a meal or two; the best way to treat fever is to have a light meal. I don't know if this has even been proven true or not and while I'm at it, if they can do robotic surgery from miles away with flying success why can't they cure the common cold!? :| |

We Bought The Farm......
Farmers worked mortgaged land their entire lives, but could only "buy" it when they died and their insurance paid out. It wasn't neccesarily a demeaning term either. For a poor family farmer working hard to make ends meet, having the mortgage paid off often meant comparative wealth and good-times for their surviving family members. Saying someone bought the farm was a somewhat respectful way of acknowledging that their death had permitted their widow and childen to become landowners (from, Snopes). |
