Today, Dear Wife and I replaced our king sized Simmons Beautyrest bed ( mattress only, as we have a king platform bed, so no box spring) with a top of the line king sized deluxe genuine Sleep Number bed system. This thing has 2 individual separately controlled split sleeping zones, heated foot zones and remote controlled head and foot elevation adjustments. It has to be, by far, the most comfortable bed that I have ever, EVER placed my old painful body on. It will be delivered and set up in approximately 3 weeks, a few days after we return from our Fall vacation. We can hardly wait!!!!!

We then drove over to the neighborhood Lowes store and bought a new deluxe dishwasher. Our old one, a 2.5 y/o GE model that came with our new house, died of electrical problems the other day. It had been making some rather peculiar noises in its last days, so we knew it was getting ready to circle the drain soon. Well, it did, finally, after it let out a few pitiful chirps and went forever silent thereafter. Our new one has individual bottle/tall container washing "fingers"/sprayers and even some kind of internal garbage disposal in it, along with a special 3rd top rack for utensils. This will be delivered next week, and not a second too soon, as Dear Wife and I are pretty sick and tired of having to wash our dishes by hand!!!

I almost fell asleep on the floor model bed at the Sleep Number bed store. Yeah, those really are THAT comfy and worth every cent of their price (just under 10K for the model we bought, in case some are curious/interested in what these things go for). I have such bad knees/low back issues and Dear Wife has back issues and what is called "Chiari Malformation", and this new bed is really going to help the both of us to sleep much, MUCH better. :winky:

I'll go get pizza and beer and have my own private tailgate party for the debate tonight.

Gemme 10-22-2020 08:19 AM

Tonight I hope to stay away from purchases other than the bills I'll pay today and maybe picking up a couple grocery items. Last night, however, I reintroduced myself to Etsy.

50’ string of Edison lights and put them along the edge of the cover on part of the back patio. Not only will it hopefully look good (I’ll know more when I turn them on after dark) but should also be helpful for seeing what I’m doing when I am barbecuing after dark or in the rain. :cheesy:

hey...I have the same idea. I have lights, well, not put up just yet, and no way as long as yours. I bet after you turn them on they will look absolutely perfect. I love that Edison light!

Evenings on the patio, waiting for gardenias to bloom😉

You should put them up, I turned mine on and they look great, exactly how I wanted them to. There may be more in the future for my front courtyard! 💡

Nothing yet today but yesterday I picked up some new undergarments and a shirt as well as a planner and some groceries and hygiene items. My 'score' if you will is a smokeless indoor grill. I haggled with myself for a few minutes but chose to pick it up. When I got home, I did some research and it looks like a I got a great deal so I'm happy with it. Now all it has to do is work.

Today I pulled the trigger on something I’ve been coveting for a long time, a “Butter Pat“ cast iron skillet. I have my grandmothers old school smooth finish cast iron from I don’t even know when in a 12 inch which I love to death and use frequently. I have wanted one in a smaller size for quite some time but one of the same quality of the older pans. $tupid, but I’m going for the quality.

:present: for myself.

If you enjoy it, I'd say it is a great purchase. I have a 12" and an 8", and the 8" is perfect when I want just enough cornbread for myself, or myself and one other. It's also great when I want just one or two eggs. Or when my 12" is being put to another use. Heck, cast iron is the way to go for cooking. Have you ever tried making a pineapple upside-down cake in one? It is _divine_, the way the cast iron perfectly caramelizes the pineapples.

Hopefully the last time I will need to buy graduation garb..unless I decide to go for a Doctorate....mmm nah not for a good while. These degrees exhausted me and while an EdS is pretty darn close to a PhD. I'm in no mood to continue that masochistic path at this time.

Can't wait for the ceremony!!! Dec. 11th! I will be on school break at that point but not WORK break... and thankfully, I bought all my graduation decorations when they were HOT in May/June...

Kätzchen 11-17-2020 11:20 PM

Pumpkin Pound-cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, two of them.

I will use some cinnamon sprinkles too, when I have a slice of it. *yum*

Meat order from Primal Pastures, getting ahead of the crowd this time. During the last lock down they ran out of almost everything for a couple of months. It will feel good to have the freezer topped up, got my frozen veg a couple of days ago, everything else still in pretty good shape from the last go round.

*Le sigh*

Rico and I met up for a late afternoon date by the river. Rico brought two slices of Pumpkin pie (that he made himself, he's a good cook!) and I brought two Venti cups of Starbucks Blonde Roast.

I bought two matching cloth masks for both of us, so we wore our new masks for our walk by the river. We also included plenty of space between us to enjoy the pie and coffee, at the end of our riverside walk.

Having fun setting up my new iPad Air 4 that just arrived today. :cheesy:

I think it’s interesting that at the top of this page I agonize over spending $200 on a great pan that will outlive me, yet I have zero compunction over dropping $1100 on a somewhat improved version of something I already have that will be out of date in two years. :seconddoh:

VintageFemme 11-28-2020 06:36 PM

This gorgeous piece of art from Anthropologie! I'm super excited to get it.

It's ginormous and will be perfect on the wall next to the stairs. HoHoHo
