Kind of Blue is a studio album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, released on August 17, 1959, by Columbia Records. Recording sessions for the album took place at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City on March 2 and April 22, 1959. The sessions featured Davis's ensemble sextet, with pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley. After the entry of Evans into his sextet, Davis followed up on the modal experimentations of Milestones (1958) by basing Kind of Blue entirely on modality, in contrast to his earlier work with the hard bop style of jazz.

Though precise figures have been disputed, Kind of Blue has been described by many music writers not only as Davis's best-selling album, but as the best-selling jazz record of all time. On October 7, 2008, it was certified quadruple platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has been regarded by many critics as the greatest jazz album of all time and Davis's masterpiece.

The album's influence on music, including jazz, rock, and classical music, has led music writers to acknowledge it as one of the most influential albums ever made. In 2002, it was one of fifty recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry. In 2003, the album was ranked number 12 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

José Luis Feliciano Vega, conocido artísticamente como Cheo Feliciano
(Ponce, 3 de julio de 1935 − Cupey, 17 de abril de 2014), fue un
compositor y cantante Puertorriqueño de salsa y bolero.

Biografía (In English here: )

Fue hijo del matrimonio de Prudencio Feliciano y de Crescencia Vega de Feliciano,
quienes vivían del humilde trabajo del padre como carpintero. Siendo artista
reconocido, varios años después, reconocería que su infancia fue pobre, aunque feliz.
Los días domingos, cuando el padre estaba libre, se dedicaba a cocinar y a cantar algún
bolero de esa época siendo acompañado por la madre 3 y esta rutina familiar se convirtió
en su primera influencia musical. Se inició en la música a través del bolero como
percusionista en su ciudad natal y en 1952 se trasladó a Nueva York con su familia trabajando
para diversas orquestas como tal. En 1955, se encontraba trabajando como atrilero en la orquesta
del músico y cantante Tito Rodríguez y éste se percata del talento de percusionista y cantante de
Feliciano. Gracias a ello, Rodríguez le ofrece la oportunidad de cantar junto a su orquesta en el
club nocturno neoyorquino, hoy desaparecido, Palladium. Feliciano sale airoso de la prueba y
Rodríguez le recomienda al músico Joe Cuba su inclusión en su sexteto, con lo que inicia su carrera
en forma independiente hacia 1957. Dos años después, se casa con una joven que había conocido durante
esas actuaciones llamada Socorro Prieto León. Luego de estar diez años en esta orquesta, formó parte
de la agrupación de Eddie Palmieri como vocalista entre 1967 y 1969. Sus problemas de drogadicción
surgieron durante esta etapa en la cual consumió marihuana y heroína y aunque siguió trabajando se dio
cuenta del daño que causaba así a su familia por lo que se retiró temporalmente de la música y ayudado
por su amigo y colega Tommy Olivencia ingresó a una de las sedes de Hogares Crea para rehabilitarse,
siendo apoyado por Tite Curet Alonso y el abogado y empresario argentino Jerry Masucci, quien se
interesó en que el artista fuese contratado para su empresa Fania Records. Una vez que se rehabilitó,
regresó a la actividad artística en 1972 y se consolidó como uno de los íconos latinoamericanos de la
salsa. Así inicia su discografía de manera independiente al firmar contrato con la subsidiaria de Fania
Records, llamada Vaya Records.

El 17 de abril de 2014 se informó su fallecimiento en un accidente de tránsito en el sector de Cupey,
Puerto Rico, en la carretera 176.
