I Love to use Starbucks French Roast coffee. I just need to tweak it to get the correct amount of coffee grounds.

Have fun,

The pot comes with a little spoon that you spoon the coffee in but it calls for coarse ground coffee and then I guess you tweak it until you get the right results of coffee that you like..I don't know but I guess Starbucks French Roast will work..I got to the grocery store tomorrow and will try to find coarse ground coffee then..

JakeTulane 12-30-2010 02:27 PM

Hey You,

Do you reside in the Batcave as well? I'm excited to use it! I may give it a try tonight when I get home. I am still at the mall with the kids. They have a lot of energy!

How is your day so far?

The French roast coffee is an extra bold coffee that I normally only use two scoops in a five cup coffee maker. If your not used to a bold coffee , try the house blend.

I'm wondering does the grocery store sell Starbucks coffee that would be something to look for tomorrow when I go. Or maybe another brand that is french roast which is something I like!!

JakeTulane 12-30-2010 04:49 PM

Hi lipstix,

As far as the coffee goes.. you pretty much can use whichever brand and whichever coarseness you like. The fine the grind.. the easier it is for the coffee to dissolve in the hot water.. and to be pressed to the bottom. Obviously the more coarse the longer it takes for the coffee to dissolve, etc. I use Starbucks House or Morning blends for the flavor.. and the grind of it is "fine". I also use Tim Horton's.. and the grind of that coffee is not as "fine" as the Starbucks. So really any brand of coffee can be used.. what it will boil down to.. is how it tastes to you in the end. you may have to play with it and tweak it as to how much you use when you put the coffee in.. and as I said previous the grind of the coffee will matter as well.

For Me in the end.. I found I like the Starbucks and Tim Hortons that I mentioned above.. and also there is an old school coffee brand called 5 O'Clock coffee... that My Mom suggested I try.. so I have all three of those in My freezer and use whichever I want at any given time.

I hope once you figure out what works for you.. that you truly like how much better to coffee tastes being made with a french press. I would never go back to any other way of preparing it.. besides I like the ritual of it as well.

Take Care
Jake

Hi you,

Perhaps I do.. grins. Ooooooooooh that would be totally cool if you tried it this eve... nods.. I vote YES !! ...

My day has been stellar.. thank you for asking... oh and guess what? I finished your Mom's bracelet.. smiles BIG.

I will text you a picture of it.. I think what I am going to do though.. the clasps that I have.. I am not thrilled about.. so given her birthday is a ways away.. I was going to place an order online anyhow for some stones, and other items I need.. so I am going to look and see what I can find for a clasp.. that really goes well with the bracelet. Wait until you see the pic.. it turned out really lovely. smiles.

Have the kids drove you crazy yet? laughs.

Big Hugs.

The 5 O'clock brand I have heard of but the Tim Hortons no.... I don't think they have that at the store but will look tomorrow like I said but thanks for the info I'm dying to use the wee beastie already and have googled on how to make the coffee in the pot I hope that I don't screw it up though..

Zimmeh 12-30-2010 08:12 PM

Good Evening You,

I'm trying to find it. I'm hoping it was put in my trunk. I will cry if it got lost!

The kids have driving me crazy, lol.

I love the bracelet and thank you for designing it!

Off to find my French press and big hugs,

Zimmy

Good Evening Everyone,

Jake is still laughing at my mess up with the French press. I'm thinking the coffee I have is not the right kind, so I have to go to Starbucks and have them grind my coffee a little bit finer.

Have a good night and sweet dreams!

Zimmy

JakeTulane 12-30-2010 11:27 PM

Good Evening you,

Ok.. seriously.. that did make Me laugh.. and I can only guess.. the water was not hot enough.. so when you do it tomorrow morning.. make sure the water is boiling in the tea kettle. I would try that before you bother having the coffee ground down more.. because if the water is not hot enough it will not "cook" the coffee.. so that totally makes sense. Still funny.. nonetheless. grins.

Big Hugs

Good morning everyone :)

:bringcoffee: Hope Zimmy got that french press worked out...a morning without coffee? Yikes!

I'm getting a late start today...was up coughing so hard from 4 to 5:30 a.m. that I just wore myself out. Joys of working from home and the job I have...I was able to set the alarm back another hour and try to get a bit more rest. I have definitely pulled or strained something in my upper back from all the coughing though...it's very sore, no matter what position I sit in.

Scoote has a long, tough day at work today...guess everyone wants pizza on New Year's Eve.

Spoke to the Rooster yesterday and he's having fun....and my mother, who scared us with a trip to the hospital (turned out she has some complications from her Crohn's and got very dehydrated). It was an interesting day.

Now for a cup of coffee, and to get seriously stuck into this mess on my desk. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day...and be safe if you go out to celebrate tonight! :cheer:
