As per my hairdresser, I am too old to have a streak of a crazy color in my hair. I asked for that, and she said very directly, with no smile and awkwardness or harshness, "No, that's for younger people." It didn't upset me. I found it funny (maybe the way she stated it like a certain fact, like the sky being blue) and reflected that my job might have an issue with it. I like to let hairdressers do what they wish with me anyway :)

I just got my hair cut. It was really long. (it's still long by most people's standards.) I've put myself through this several times before. I think that a guy having long hair is _________ fill in the blank with what ever negative rationale you can think of. The latest thing is the age thing. So I went to
a friend that is a stylist and she cut my hair. She did a really good job. And even though I tried to psych myself up for this, pre-grief and all, I'm kinda sad that I did it. After I had it cut I saw several men older than me with long hair, including one guy with white hair.

So I'm sad that I bought into the whole 'you're too old for this' crap.... :-(

Skateboarding, I am too old for skateboarding. If I fell, it would all over. :-/

Notice the middle aged folks on the sidelines laughing? My seat is over there!

I am not to old for anything! I just need to be able to have a head start! :-)

Heck, I not only need a head start, I quite possibly may need a nap somewhere along the way! Lol!

Sweet Bliss 03-07-2013 12:40 PM

I second the nap time. Too old isn't it for me. Am too tired.

I like going to bed early and gettin up early, and my nap so I can make it to bedtime.... lol Think I need more vitamins or something....:jester:

Although if dancing is on the agenda, I'm up all night!!

I agree, and fuck that stylist who said you're too old for crazy color streaks!

My friend Bertha, who's reading today in our series, is in her sixties, runs a well known small press and literary center, is a respected Beowulf scholar and poet in her own right—and has spiky blue hair.

lots of things... but the first that came to mind is that I feel I'm too old to be playing around (eg. with other people's feelings...) not that it's ever ok to do that, just feel I don't have the time and energy for games anymore and when I meet people that think otherwise, I calmly walk away...

It doesn't always have to be a mean game-playing, it might as well be a part of flirting/chase me/so many want me-you should try to compete and win me etc. etc. etc. For some people it's part of dating and that's fine. I just feel I prefer a bit more straight forward communication...

You should have told her you're too old to put up with hairdressers that don't do what you ask them to do.

Apparently, I am too old to do whatever it was that inflamed my archilles tendon overnight.

I am also too old to remember what that might have been.

I'm too old to avoid pursuing something that I really want, especially if the only reason to avoid pursuit is that society regards me as being "too old to be doing that"!

Daktari 03-10-2013 12:53 PM

That is the best response in the whole thread! Thanks for the laugh.

too old, what the heck?

I can climb ladders to change a light bulb. I can wash windows. I can kill a big spider, bug, and even a scorpion. But why why why can't I open a jar anymore? It's not age..it has to be muscles, right?....:bigcry:

I refuse to buy cans!!!!
