What is the most embarrassing thing you've ever done and what was the result?

Okay okay, I will play...I've had many embarrassing moments...but the one that sticks out right now this minute is when once, a while back, I was in Houston and was meeting a butch for the first time. He was my friend first for several years...we finally met in real time and had planned to go to dinner.

I was at my crazy sister's house and she was pretty buzzed when he got there and since I didn't know what to expect I was soooo nervous I was still primping in the bathroom when he arrived. She asked him in, gave him a beer and came to get me. When she told me he was there, I asked her where and she said he was waiting for me in the living room. I was worried she'd said something stupid to him because she was pretty messed up!

I ran out of the bathroom and straight into him (practically) and he laughed because he thought I was running to meet him!

The outcome--we had a great dinner, a few months of flirting and then left it alone...it was a difficult time for me and an LDR wasn't what I needed at the time. We are still friends and he teased me mercilessly about running out to meet him for years. If he ever reads this, he may do so again...oh well.

thanks, sue! :bunchflowers:

i have a bit of a talent for loving people who don't love me back. or being the one to fall really hard and not have it reciprocated. i've gotten better over the years about not expecting reciprocation and being careful about how much time/energy i invest in one-sided relationships, but i still love people and fall for people very easily.

my dad was probably the first person...it's possible that he did love me back and was just terrible at showing it, but he did some pretty horrible things to me and abandoned me and i kept putting myself out there. by the time he passed away, though, i'd started to learn a bit about boundaries, which has helped a lot in my other relationships.

when i first started college, i fell really hard for someone who was a few years ahead of me in the same field...we got to be great friends and there was a LOT of sexual tension. he was a huge player, though. and very dreamy (on a physical and intellectual level). we had really great chemistry. but he was not really interested in a relationship...and didn't have any feelings for me much beyond friendship/sexual chemistry. we did have mindblowing sex a couple of times...and i still have a soft spot in my heart for him. but we've both moved on.

the most fun thing? oh no! i'm really boring! there's a camping trip with one of my favorite people a while back that was the best summer trip ever, for me anyway. hammock. naps. fishing. exploring. food. good coffee. cards. conversation. sleepy cuddles. personal revelations. a few arguments but nothing that wasn't manageable. and chipmunks that got into the car! holy G*d that was funny. (really it was!) there are other things that took me further and came with a higher price tag but this is really the most fun i've had recently

tell us what's significantly different about your life today than one year ago and what you did or didn't do to get here from there.

I think the biggest change I'm going through right now is a move. Granted I'm not moving to another state or to a completely different city, but it's new roommates, living space, etc. I don't care for change, but sometimes things are out of your control. Unfortunately, this move wasn't of my own choosing (I live with a friend who's also my ex); it was her deciding that it was time for me to go since she's got a new girlfriend. It's one of those situations where it's completely out of my control, and now it's time for me to move on.

sounds to me like you're taking control by doing something that's outside your comfort zone (change) and doing it for the better (moving to a new place so that you can move on with your life away from your ex). sounds like you're still friends to a degree which is awesome but it's never a great circumstance when you have to be around as they start something new, even if you're happy for 'em. so good for you for doing what needs to be done. i think it is most definitely of your own choosing to look the thing you dont like doing in the face and recognize that you dont like it but you're going to step up anyway. good on you for doing what needs to be done with grace and style. :) (i put that grace and style thing in so you'd smile and do a little ego dance. you deserve it!)
