Also, does anyone know about the streaming HBO site? I think there are numerous shows I'd love to watch or rewatch but I'm not tech savvy about this stuff.

I stream HBO through my Roku device. I think it's $15 per month, no contract.

Did you watch this on Canadian Netflix? I was unable to find it...
Speaking of Canada, do any of my fellow Canadians have suggestions for series or movies?

No, found it while in the States. It's a Norwegian film.

Have you watched the new series, Goliath with Billy Bob Thornton on Prime? Great series. Also starting hottie and great actress Maria Bello. With William Hurt and Molly Parker (of Deadwood fame).

Also 2 seasons of the Phillip K Dick short story adaptation of The Man in the High Castle? Particularly well-done.

New great series this year: Sneaky Pete with Giovani Ribisi and Bryan Cranston

There are the three seasons of the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning Transparent.

I also liked One Mississipi with Tig Notaro.

I loved Bosch- two seasons of the Michael Connolly book series about LAPD Detective Harry Bosch. Season 3 coming soon.

Amazon has really stepped up its game in the series department. All of these will keep you busy for a while!

It is not an Amazon original series as it was on AMC or A&E but The Night Manager was quite good. It is starting Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie. It is based on John leCarre's novel. I thought it was really good.

It's a good movie. I was just sad that it didn't get more rave reviews.

I'm working my way through Private Practice, a spin-off of Gray's Anatomy. I'm into the fourth season, and today's episode was a real tearjerker. Gotta love Shonda Rhimes shows!

Sorry, my eyes just automatically followed the nice down arrows.

Had not gotten there yet.

"Spoiler" in Title line always helps me to know not to read a post.

Anyway, yes, the series is fantastic.

The actors are all terrific.

Apologies, though I did include the words "spoiler below" in the first sentence in the post I've now deleted.

... they just killed Nina—one of the main characters. I'm not shocked they killed her because I expected her to die in Season 3, but the way they did it took me by surprise and left me feeling really sad. There was nothing obscene nor vulgar about her death—if anything, it was performed without cruelty or humiliation, but it shook me to watch her receive the news and to see her knees buckle. It was fast, unexpected—nothing leading up to her execution—and I'm still bothered by it.

I started watching Dexter from the beginning. Turns out I've seen most of season 1. Such an excellent show and a wonderful ensemble cast.

Yes, I'm sorry. My eyeballs just get going and all I saw at first were those cool arrows.

I knew it was going to happen to her but I really liked her tortured soul of a character.

I apologize for jumping at you instead of reading more carefully.

No worries, my friend.

I started watching that too! I think I'm on #4 ... I found it a little slow going but still interesting.

Just found The Young Pope on HBO ... I don't know how best to describe it! Anyone else seen it yet? The trailer gives you a pretty good window into just how friggin' amazing... enthralling... confusing ... this show is... watch it!

Here's another WHACKY clip from it...

Love browsing the documentary section on Netflix. I just stumbled upon this one today and haven't finished it yet.

Quite a fascinating bit of political history considering where we find ourselves today.

ABOUT THE FILM

In the summer of 1968 television news changed forever. Dead last in the ratings, ABC hired two towering public intellectuals to debate each other during the Democratic and Republican national conventions. William F. Buckley Jr. was a leading light of the new conservative movement. A Democrat and cousin to Jackie Onassis, Gore Vidal was a leftist novelist and polemicist. Armed with deep-seated distrust and enmity, Vidal and Buckley believed each other’s political ideologies were dangerous for America. Like rounds in a heavyweight battle, they pummeled out policy and personal insult—their explosive exchanges devolving into vitriolic name-calling. Live and unscripted, they kept viewers riveted. Ratings for ABC News skyrocketed, and a new era in public discourse was born.

I used to watch House of Cards and think: "Thank god we don't have a real Francis Underwood in the White House".

Now we do.
