I'm working my way through Private Practice, a spin-off of Gray's Anatomy. I'm into the fourth season, and today's episode was a real tearjerker. Gotta love Shonda Rhimes shows!

Had not gotten there yet. "Spoiler" in Title line always helps me to know not to read a post. Anyway, yes, the series is fantastic. The actors are all terrific. |

The Americans - Spoiler Alert
(spoilers below) Is anyone watching The Americans? I'm just catching up on Season 4 and all I can say is WOW. Last night I watched Season 4, Episode 4 and ... (spoilers below)
| | | \/ | | | \/ | | | \/ | | | \/ ... they just killed Nina—one of the main characters. I'm not shocked they killed her because I expected her to die in Season 3, but the way they did it took me by surprise and left me feeling really sad. There was nothing obscene nor vulgar about her death—if anything, it was performed without cruelty or humiliation, but it shook me to watch her receive the news and to see her knees buckle. It was fast, unexpected—nothing leading up to her execution—and I'm still bothered by it. |
I started watching Dexter from the beginning. Turns out I've seen most of season 1. Such an excellent show and a wonderful ensemble cast.

I knew it was going to happen to her but I really liked her tortured soul of a character. I apologize for jumping at you instead of reading more carefully. |

Love browsing the documentary section on Netflix. I just stumbled upon this one today and haven't finished it yet.
Quite a fascinating bit of political history considering where we find ourselves today. ABOUT THE FILM In the summer of 1968 television news changed forever. Dead last in the ratings, ABC hired two towering public intellectuals to debate each other during the Democratic and Republican national conventions. William F. Buckley Jr. was a leading light of the new conservative movement. A Democrat and cousin to Jackie Onassis, Gore Vidal was a leftist novelist and polemicist. Armed with deep-seated distrust and enmity, Vidal and Buckley believed each other’s political ideologies were dangerous for America. Like rounds in a heavyweight battle, they pummeled out policy and personal insult—their explosive exchanges devolving into vitriolic name-calling. Live and unscripted, they kept viewers riveted. Ratings for ABC News skyrocketed, and a new era in public discourse was born. http://www.magpictures.com/bestofenemies/ |
I used to watch House of Cards and think: "Thank god we don't have a real Francis Underwood in the White House". Now we do. |
