This blizzard in Oklahoma has caused white out conditions with high winds and low visibility. Even the airport is closed.

Before a single snow flake fell, a state of emergency was called for all 77 counties and the mayor asked that non-essential businesses to stay closed today so that people are not on the road and stuck out in the weather.

Right now the temperature is 7 degrees and the wind chill is -20 to -30 degrees. The National Guard has been mobilized too to help with stranded motorists on the local highways. :army:

If you are in the path of this storm, top off your gas tank, go to the grocery store and prepare yourself!

Leigh 02-01-2011 01:18 PM

It is currently -23 celcius, feels like -31 with the windchill (which is -9 farenheit)

Heck, Timber called a few moments ago to say that one of the time/temp signs said it's 26F somewhere between Katy and where we live.

According to the thermometer outside, it is 20 degrees in Austin,,,far cry from the 75 degrees it was on Sunday! Right now, the wind chill is pretty brutal for this part of the country. The anti-freeze system on the pool and hot tub has been turning on and off all day!

We are very fortunate here in Louisville as we only got rain. Less than 60 miles north it is all ice. It was 50 degrees around 7pm this evening. It's supposed to get down into the 20s tonight and flurry a tad tomorrow.

Somehow not missing the snow today!

KatieStar 02-02-2011 09:19 AM

If you haven't heard about the blizzard pounding Chicago... It's bad. Really bad. I've lived in the Midwest my whole life and have never seen a snow storm like this.
2 feet of snow, 60 mph winds and snow drifts 10-15 feet high. It's been an incredible 24 hours.

The_Lady_Snow 02-02-2011 09:21 AM

Stay safe Katie!!!!

WolfyOne 02-02-2011 10:25 AM

6 degrees and climbing as high as 12 today
My toes are froze in this old uninsulated house
I'm already wearing socks, footies and my moccasins :|

Kobi 02-02-2011 12:37 PM

Phil versus Quentin

Nantucket's answer to Punxsutawney Phil, Quentin the Quahog
squirted to the left Wednesday morning when he was
opened by Harbormaster Dave Fronzuto inside the
Marine and Coastal Resources Department, a sure sign that
we're in for a longer winter this year. He then paid the ultimate
sacrifice and was consumed by Fronzuto.

Even resort areas have their share of weirdo's.

lipstixgal 02-02-2011 12:51 PM

Oh no the groundhog saw his shadow so it will be an early spring most definitely, I don't want any more winter:blink:

Wryly 02-02-2011 12:58 PM

We didn't get as much snow as predicted. And it isn't as cold, either ( -5C/ 23F ).
Yay!

While the snow plow was doing the parking lot my sister and I went down and moved our cars so our parking spots could be plowed out. There is usually an empty spot beside me but someone has taken it because they're too lazy to shovel out their own spot.

Leigh 02-02-2011 03:08 PM

Weather here in Winnipeg:

1) -15 (w/ windchill its -27) celcius
Winds south 33 gusting to 46 km/h

musicman 02-02-2011 04:03 PM
