Flannel lined blue jeans....As a kid growing up and playing outside in winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, these were a godsend........:praying:

girl_dee 02-19-2017 08:49 PM

Anyone remember weatherman Bob Sheets who broadcasted Hurricane Andrew

in Miami FL. Chief Meteorologist of a local channel.

You saw him get progressively more exhausted. Was on the air all the way

thru the hurricane. No breaks no naps. Retired shortly thereafter, but made

a whole bunch of South Florida feel not alone. Really reassuring!

You were the only girl on the block with a record player, and you invited your girlfriends over to listen (dance) to the singles it played.

girl_dee 02-21-2017 01:33 PM

i remember this!

when a station bragged about a show being in color.

I remember the knife sharpener that was on the back. I cut myself today and that reminded me of my dad sharpening the knives on this thing.

When I took typing class it was all well and good UNTIL you made an error and went to correct it!

This was WAY before correction tape or white out. You had to move the carriage all the way to the right, so none of the crumbs from the eraser fell onto the typewriter keys, (these were manual typewriters btw) Moving the carriage back went fine, but getting the text to line up was the challenge!

girl_dee 02-23-2017 05:41 AM

the wooden gym floor.

Remember when........

You could leave your windows open at night to catch a cool breeze?

homoe 02-24-2017 03:09 AM

You could leave your door unlocked to both the house and automobile!

cathexis 02-24-2017 03:54 AM

Rowin & Martin's Laugh In

Smother's Brothers Hour

Gilligan's Island

The Merv Griffin Show

The Grand Ol' Opry with Minnie Pearl

Smoking on airline flights was okay.

Cars only had lap belts, if at all. And nobody you knew wore them,

Roller Derby with Jane West skating (what a long platinum haired heart throb)

Also, when the only day you could take your AM transistor radio to school was

when the Indy 500 ran. You took it to class and left it on during the race.

Then the teacher would collect 'em all to give back when school was done.

girl_dee 02-24-2017 05:19 AM

Omg lap belts. I do remember that!

I remember when if Gunsmoke was on, you better not make a sound!
