A couch! I've been looking for a while for something in my price range that has either a design that I can use a cover on without looking like a hot mess, or that has zip off covers for washing. My cats shed and my nephews are ... walking disasters. So I need something I can keep clean. I found something today that I like with zip off covers and am so happy.

Tires for my car

Groceries

A couple more tomato plants

A shirt! I'm trying to avoid buying new clothes and only wearing stuff out of my closet, but this is so pretty I couldn't help myself. Those pop-up ads do follow me around:

Funny...I did the same thing. I received a birthday coupon and I couldn't resist the good deal!

So cute! And happy birthday!

I may have mentioned this in another forum, but I have been having the hardest time choosing a shower curtain. I've never had a curtain, I've only had sliding glass doors, but those would be awkward with my new grab bars. But the shower curtain is so big it takes over the whole bathroom. Plus, I will have to look at it several times a day. It's like choosing a piece of art; it's hard to pick something I'll love that I won't get tired of looking at.

But I finally found something I can embrace on etsy (the square thing on the bottom right is a counter top I couldn't crop out):

My bedroom has an astrological theme, so I think this will flow very well.

That's a lovely shower curtain!

I scored well at a thrift store today. I have a particular one I love that is specifically to fund a shelter for homeless youth. They are always packed with people and fun surprises. I found two platters that are straight out of the 70s, triangular blue and green with gold trim. One small one medium size. They will be perfect for things like olives and cubes of cheese with pita triangles or something like that. I also got an antique amber serving bowl with a beautiful design in the glass. I'm a happy camper.

I’m building my flower stash so if the canna/cbd industry goes belly up, then I’ll have enough to start my own garden and enjoy my own sativa Indica blends.

10 pounds of NY strip steaks - it was a really excellent sale.

2 pair of Muk Luks Cabin Socks - also on sale, and they're the best for my cold feet in bed because they don't come off while I sleep, and they're super warm.

GeorgiaMa'am 05-11-2025 09:02 PM

Five silver retro starbursts in varying sizes for my bathroom wall. They will complement my new shower curtain very well. I found them on etsy and they were on sale and the seller has great reviews!

WalMart has a new line (bettergoods) that is more upscale/out of the norm for WM. I had to order just a few things anyway, so I went through the bg list and ordered a few things to try:
- bettergoods tomato three cheese bisque
- bg artichoke bruschetta
- bg oven roasted and seasoned red petite potatoes with olive oil, Italian herbs and Parmesan
- bg farmhouse style shredded cheddar, gouda and gruyere
- bg chicken wings with brown sugar BBQ dry rub
- bg bronze cut radiatori pasta no. 496

also:
- strawberries
- a mango
- a banana
- tp

The bettergoods stuff was not that expensive, and less expensive than what I would have paid elsewhere (like for gochujang and macarons). I'm interested to see how it tastes and what the ingredients are.

I recently came across a limited edition of a Little League baseball, which was made in Haiti, before that particular supplier of baseballs was moved to, I think, Costa Rica. Making baseballs in Haiti was an important economy that helped workers in Haiti who live in absolute poverty, poverty of a nation broken by cruel politics in our own country. I know this for a fact due to my mother who went on many tireless missions to Haiti via Doctors and Nurses without Borders.

Anyhooo, I bought that baseball to give it to my little granddaughter for her second birthday, later this fall.

Today …. All I plan to buy is a lottery ticket.

🤞<<<<<——. Fingers crossed. If I win big, I plan to pay off my student loan debt (which spiraled under the trumpian first reign of terror), pay off my doctor’s student loans too (his are as huge as mine), then set up a blind trust to help pay off other people’s student loans who have been screwed by the same white collar criminal who occupies the WH.

A jazzy new zester. It has a red handle so I will be able to easily see it in my kitchen utensils drawer. It also has a guard for the blades.

I wish I could find more clothing at thrift shops. I do shop on Poshmark, but I’d rather stay local.

I tried out my new Medicare card Part A at the hospital ER today. We'll see how much that's going to cost me.

I totally splurged today.

Have any of you seen the smart bird feeders? They have a camera and take pictures of the birds eating. It has an app and sends the pictures and videos to your phone along with identifying the bird. I've wanted one sooooo badly. But I couldn't justify the cost. Well... there was a big sale on one of the better reviewed ones and I couldn't stop myself.

This is the link if anyone else needs a splurge!

PlatinumPearl 05-23-2025 04:52 PM

I bought...

Groceries, mainly frozen vegetables and berries, along with a few pantry staples to restock.

I still need to pick up some fresh produce. I used to shop at the nearby Asian supermarket, but with the recent price increases due to tariffs, I won’t be going there anymore. I’ve always felt it was overpriced for the amount and quality offered, so I’ll be buying from smaller fruit stands instead.

Oh no! I haven't been to our Korean supermarket in awhile, but I didn't think about the tariffs. I love the produce at Han Mart, it's so beautiful and varied. Where am I going to get bok choy now? I wonder if this means the prices at the good Asian restaurants will be going up too? At least I have some smaller produce stands and some organic grocery stores.

Chancie 05-25-2025 11:07 AM

Pete accompanied me to the large coop, one state north. We spent $225. Some items were much cheaper than our local coop, so I bought two (or four). I did intend to stock up, and I did tell Pete that I was going to spend $200 so she didn’t start taking food out of the cart.

I suspect that any current increases in price are opportunistic. I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think our local Asian markets have restocked with new products yet.

I like your idea PlatinumPearl for buying fresh produce from local produce vendors. We have (in our metro area) a variety of ethnic vendors: Ukrainian (Russian and Slavic too), Japanese, Korean, and Chinese American produce vendors at community farmer markets that offer fresh produce from their gardens. I buy local all the time. (f)

We have the “Jade” sector in our metro area which features many types of Asian markets: Fu Bon, Hong Fat, Hong Fat II ( three super wealthy Asian business men cobbled their riches together to buy out the Walmart complex at Eastport shopping area to expand their Asian presence in the Jade District of our metro area).

Have you ever tried an Asian buffet?? We’ve got an excellent venue east of our metro’s Jade District…. FJ Buffet (all you can eat buffet with fresh seafood choices of many types, all kinds of fresh sushi, desserts, salads, hot bar that changes out daily each meal time that offers awesome hot food choices).

Here’s a link to their business: https://fjbuffet.com/

My long time friend at work treated me to dinner on my birthday at this buffet.

It was delicious, very enjoyable, wait staff service was tops ( I tipped our waitstaff for their timely, quiet, service), and the aura in the buffet was complimented by very soothing Asian instrumental music. Their wet bar service offered limited choices of beverages, but the tea or coffee or even water was triple filtered and very tasty. Dinner for those of us over 60 is affordable, and regular pricing for adults and children is exceptional too. Very affordable. You take your time to eat all you want to eat. We spent over two hours there enjoying a hearty meal. My lady friend ate fresh squid, and she loved it. Of course, I had fresh crab on the half shell. Couldn’t pass that up at all! Best of all, they are open on Sunday and on all American holidays. I know where I’m going on Thanksgiving, this year... :eyebat: :balloon: (f)

While on vacay, my nephew -in-law had this and brought it out when we had take out Chinese one night. Oh, soo much better than the little packets and measures up to good wasabi. I ordered it on line last night. Now deciding what Chinese dish I want tonight.

Also, a candle came today. It's a wood wick. It was brought to my attention, it will sound like a crackling fire.
And a pair of my favorite NFL team socks. I can wear them on game days. ....hurry football season!!

WOW!!!

I opted for toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap. Nothing fun. Well, I did find a blu tooth portable CD player. ( I cant seem to part with my old CDs.) And a phone case. (I got a new phone the other day.)

I changed cell carriers ( Spectrum)and got a whole year free! It will be $30 a month next year. ( and I thought I had a deal with T-Mobile.)

cinnamongrrl 07-15-2025 08:49 AM

Yesterday: I bought one of those coffee tables where the top lifts up to use for dining or a desk. I got it off marketplace for $30. On my way to pick it up, I stopped to get exact change. I bought a $2 ticket and won $20! I don’t gamble much, so it was wicked cool.
Today: I’m buying fencing for the pups so they can go in and out while I’m at work. I’m a little nervous about this set up. But I know my older dog, Henry, can’t hold it for 11 plus hours….
Also getting tires and an oil change today.

A new battery for my car$$$

Why hasn't anyone invented a guage to tell us when the battery will die?? Surprize! It won't start!

GeorgiaMa'am 07-19-2025 01:57 AM

Two lamps for my bedside tables. These match the style of my newly redecorated en suite bathroom, but not my sadly out-of-date (meaning: decorated by my next to last girlfriend) bedroom. Time to get started redecorating my bedroom! Of course, now I'll be designing around my lamps and bedside tables (the only things I have that are new) but that's ok.
