Hiya!!!
Long time no see! School is crazy here, especially in my last semester of undergrad!!! I am getting most of my creativity out on my ceramics2 class...but still miss all of yall and the process of this group exchange!! I was checking in to see whatever happened to that tin project??? I tried to look back in the thread but couldn't find it referenced, did we just agree to take it as a loss? I hope everyone has a lovely weekend! xoxoxo pixie |

They were devoured by a hungry Tin Man needing a transfusion.. They transformed themselves back to Altoid boxes and are in your local store. The mail machine chewed them up and spit out tiny tin trinkets Tootsie put on her bracelet,,,:hangloose: Glad to see school is in the headlines...Way 2 go. |

Okay, you just made me really and truly lol. :giggle: |
Crafters.... I have a question... I am going to decorate a bra. Making it Mermaid worthy. Now do I sew items on or glue? and if I am glueing what type of glue do you recommend?
thank you so much for your help!!! http://http://img1.etsystatic.com/00....346918461.jpg |

What Laney said, but it basically comes down to what you're making it for. For a stuffed mermaid that won't move or for The General. Or you. Or The General trying to be you.
 |
More thoughts on what happened to those Altoid tins:
Lady Rain had a small booth at a craft fair where she sold them as a special set for a hefty sum. Lady Rain pulverized the Altoid tins and made a spectacular pair of heavy earrings for herself. Lady Rain decided to deliver them to us on foot and is lost in a desert somewhere. Quote:

BUMP, and some new Sunday secrets to read for inspiration: http://www.postsecret.com
1. Jennifer/nycfembbw (wrangler) 2. ahk 3. Gemme 4. pajama 5. Bleu 6. Laneydoll 7. Stepfordfemme 8. Cara 9. laruss 10. Tommi Info: Postcards due end of Feb (Send me a package with all the postcards, and I'll send you one back with postcards from each person participating). If in US send me 5 dollars for shipping. If in Canada send me 10. Please send me your package without any confirmation or need for signature. It's more likely to get lost at the nyc post office while it waits for me to come sign it than it is to just reach me without all that. To determine the number of postsecret postcards to make, subtract one (yourself) and you will know how many cards to make. PM me your address and I will send you mine IF we've never sent each other anything in the mail before (almost all of you I have before). You can make all the same postcard or all different ones. Secrets can be anonymous or you can sign your name, and you can let me decide who gets what or you can specify by writing it on the reverse side of the postcard (e.g. To: ahk From: Bleu -- or just From: Bleu or just To: ahk). All secrets must be kept secret and sacred, because while some go for light or not personal; some use it for catharsis. Postcards do not have to be 4x6, just reasonably sized. If you want to specify a "from" or a "to" (reminder: you can leave blank if you want, and I'll decide and you'll be anonymous), but you used both sides of your postcard for the project then just put it in a ziploc type baggie and stick a label on it or write on the baggie with permanent marker. For examples of postsecret, go to http://www.postsecret.com or http://www.photobucket.com and do a search for "post secret" or "postsecret" |
Better to use the gallery. But make sure to post here and alert us so we can go gawk (f)

just found this thread this morning - as I browse while having my coffee and trying not to slip in a cold meds induced state of unconsciousness...lol
i don't know that I would call myself an artist - but I do enjoy - all things paper related - pen paper - handmade quills and ink ...even have tried my hand at homemade paper - I do some sculpture and would love to try my hand at the pottery thing again one of these days... and yes - there is nothing quite like finding a handwritten note amongst the daily diluge of things that fills one's mailbox ... and I am bad about corresponding as I should - having had a fine gentleman friend from New Zealand for many years now - we write lengthy letters about twice a year - and it's nice to see that in my mailbox every now and again...our lives are so busy - and I'm all for "digital communication" it's great ...but nothing quite like reaching in the top drawer of the old desk and pulling out a clean white sheet of linen paper and some fine ink to write to your love - or to an old friend - or maybe even a new friend... As always - just my two cents worth... |
_________BECAUSE sending a letter is the next best thing to showing up personally at someone’s door (and yet somehow less intrusive and yet more mysterious) ... Ink from your pen touches the stationary, your fingers touch the paper, your saliva seals the envelope. Something tangible from your world travels through machines and hands, and deposits itself in another’s mailbox. Your letter is then carried inside as an invited guest. The paper that was sitting on your desk, now sits on another’s. The recipient handles the paper that you handled. Letters create a connection that modern, impersonal forms of communication will never approach...so why not even today ...just write...:writer:

There is nothing else but pure thought and effort in something handwritten. Nothing too short or too small, depending on the words, can make your heart sing. :) It is a token of romance.

Just a reminder that projects are due by the end of this month. Also, please remember they can be as totally simple or time intensive as you want. At least for me, it's the cathartic act of writing out a secret that makes this project most meaningful.
