Is anyone as excited as me that this is Book 4! (ok sortof book 4 ).

Eric losing his memory being all sheepish and cute. (Calling her "snooki" ha)

I'm just hoping they include the book 4 shower scene. please pretty please. :)

Fiona Shaw is a great addition.

Christie and I adore the "memory loss Eric". She points out that it is very much akin to my inner five year old. I think he is just precious and having not read the series yet ( I "read" via audio file), I'm looking very forward to this development!

I'm so excited about season 4. Loved when Pam was trying to film the commercial.

The thought of Debbie and Alcide together makes my skin crawl. She's the only one that can make looking "normal" really creepy.

One of my favorite Pam scenes....

Did anyone notice how Lafayette seem to intensify the strength of the witches?

Queerasfck 07-12-2011 08:22 AM

The good, the bad and the ugly.

Good-This has been my favorite season since the first one (so far). I like that they are using humor more in some of the writing.

Good-To me it's obvious that Layfette has the power not that Wiccan lady and I don't trust his boyfriend anymore.

Good-The doll is creepy. I am interested to see where they go with it. Of course I love Pam and she better not get killed off.

Bad-Tara. Snoozing with her new found lesbianism. She bores me.

Ugly-The stuff with Jason right now. I hate the story line. It's gross and disturbing. I wish Crystal and all her kin-folk would all die. SOON.

Arwen 07-12-2011 08:32 AM

Another one who hasn't read (and probably won't) the series. Loved the scene with the Queen. Thanks HBO for one last look at Sophie Ann. :)

Not sure about the AVL affiliation. Feels a bit KBG to me.

Agree that Tara's lesbianism is a yawn. Was that in the books?

Finally caught up on the last two shows. lol

Totally! It seems he is the one with the power.

OMG, Tara even had on Doc Martins...lmao. I do like her, but they are being trite with the lesbian stuff.

Don't trust Jesus now either. Want to...but don't.

The doll creeps me OUT!

And the Panther story line? too gross to watch. I hate it. When all the inbred women were lined up to rape Jason I about gaged....not to mention their teeth. YUCK. Oh and the snacking on entrails? Shutter.

Thank goodness for Pam, love her!

Yeahh, but I liked his swagger and clothes before...we shall see. lol.
I hate the cut off sweat shirt look.

Am enjoying the season so far, except for the panther story line, I could totally do without that. I liked it better in the book, but maybe I just pictured it less gross somehow.

I loved the books and have read them all. :)

Maybe they will bring Sophie back, loved her!

AVL very KGB!

Tara is a very minor character in the books, the persona we see on the show was created by the producers...as is Lafayette for the most part since he died at the end on book one.

and

The witches are really sweet and funny in the book...

Actually in the books Tara was a very boring white lady who had gone to school with Sookie and ran her own clothing boo-teek. She married a stupid but attractive boy that they were friends with in highschool named JB.

I like Tara from the show a zillion times better. She's actually one of my favourite characters.

Well because in the books it was less rapey. And Crystal wasn't in on it. In the books, remember, Crystal's ex boyfriend kidnapped Jason and held him captive and bit him every night so that he would turn into a panther - because he thought if Jason was a panther Crystal wouldn't want him any more.

I guess the whole "bring Jason into the family to add new blood to the line" storyline is a takeoff from the books where Calvin was always trying to court Sookie because he wanted HER to add new blood to the line. But at least in the books Calvin didn't want to tie up, drug, and rape anybody. Calvin was actually a pretty awesome guy in the books.

OMG, thats right...I guess in my mind I pictured the inbred panthers with better teeth...lol.

Maybe when I read the books I pictured it all sweet and nice lmao. I am such a dork! lolololol

Debbie Van Pelt? Agreed! She is vile!

I do like Tara wayyy better in the show, but the Doc Martins really made me laugh. :)

Jess 07-13-2011 04:03 PM

I'm not sure why it bothers me that several folks have made mention of the "lesbianism" scenes with Tara in a less than positive light.

Me? I thought it HAWT! HAWT! HAWT! Matter of fact, if I slow rewind and slow advance a couple of scenes it just gets hotter.

I guess the reason it bothers me, is that no one has had any "less than positive" things to say about the "lesbian" scenes with Pam or SophieAnn. Not to mention any ill regard for the scenes with Bill/ Sam ( fantasy/ dream scene) or Eric/ Talbot.

Why is this? Seriously, what is the difference that makes someone see Tara's sex scenes as icky or tiresome or whatever? Never saw a word said when she was being tortured and raped. Hmmm...

Edited to add: oh yeah, I forgot Lafayette/ Jesus. The entire show ( including the marquis in the opening credits "God Hates Fangers") reflects the LGBT struggle, why is this one aspect bothering to folks?

Peach 07-13-2011 06:00 PM

I can tell, that you wont have to worry about Debbie if they stay to the book. Not sure how close they do stay though. I'm reading them in order, and have only seen season 1. I know there was a fair bit of sex in the books, but seriously, season 1 was basically porn!

Miss Scarlett 07-13-2011 06:58 PM

"You just killed my fairy godmother!"

Best line in the entire episode.

OK that doll is seriously creepy!

Tara as a lesbian is just boring.

I liked it when this crazy vamp was after her.

I find Tara's character very boring especially in the last two seasons. I don't find her icky or unattractive physically. The story line with her mom as an alcoholic was interesting, since then not so much for me.

Maybe you could elaborate on the last part you edited. I don't really follow what you're saying.

Jess 07-13-2011 08:20 PM

I guess I was just noting that half of the primary cast has had intimate homosexual scenes and I just wonder what it is specifically that bothers several of the thread participants about hers.

I find her character very amusing, in that soap operatic sort of "wtf is going to happen to Tara next" way. Kinda like the day time character who has been in a coma since she was hit by a train on her way back from the kidney dialysis treatment where she ran into the man who posed as her father as a child but was really an escaped serial killer from Portugal... ya know?

anywho... just curious

I don't know why, but Tara's lesbian scenes and new story line wasn't exciting to me.

I think it would have been better if she had been turned into a vampire then had a sexual affair with Sookie.

heh.... with the liberties they are taking with the characters, that could be right around the corner! :praying:

Tara's lesbianism is boring. It doesn't fit her character AT ALL. Why would she turn to a woman? Why would she be in some obviously rigged girl-on-girl fight scene?

It just feels like HBO's playing to the straight male crowd who always want to see girls hook up. That mentality is just gross to me. Let me caveat this with I don't see that mentality in your statement, Jess, but I do see it in some folks who watch this show. They seem to get titillated by it and that bugs me.

Especially when it's half-assed soft porn that's not even very good porn.
