Issues:

I logged in yesterday after a break, searched unread posts, viewed my CP, lovely jubbly.

I went to the main page again, and it asked me to log in again. No prob, the server must have logged me out after a period of time.
I log in, the page tells me it will redirect me, it does... but the main page is still asking me to log in - but I am on the 'Who's online?' list, and when I click on a thread to view new posts, it takes me where I left it.

This wouldn't be a problem, since I obviously am logged in - I can view my new posts, if this message goes through, I can post... but I can't see some member specific options - New Posts, say. User CP.

At the top of the page I have just: Register, Arcade, Queerbay and Chat links; there are no links to User CP, Community, New Posts, Search, Quick Links, Log Out.

I just read this entire thread and now understand why this site is so freaking awesome!!!(f)

What browser are you using? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc?

A couple of thoughts:

- log out, clear out your cookies, exit the browser and then log in

- ensure you check off "Remember Me?" button when you log in.

How do you clear out your cookies using IE?

Firefox and I did all that before thinking about it as an issue :D .
Didn't work.

But I succeeded at fully logging in when I tried to look at my profile and it took me to a "this is members-only area, please log in" page.
Guess everything all right :) .

Thank you!

If you look at the bottom of this post on the left-hand side bar that has my info, you will see three icons. The first tells you whether or not I am online. The second allows you to "rep" me. If you click on that, it opens a small dialogue box, and you can share your thoughts about my post. The third icon is a button that allows you to report a post, which you find offensive or one which you believe violates the TOS. If you look at the bottom of this post, on the far right-hand side, you will see a thanks button. By clicking on this, you can give someone a quick "rep." If you want to give someone a double "rep," click on the dialogue box one, first, and the thanks one, last. I hope you enjoy "repping!"

That's referred to as a rep. You can do this by hitting on the scales found on the user's mini-profile beside posts that they do. You need to do reps first before thanks otherwise you'll be limited to thanks.

No. You shouldn't be getting that. It still sounds like you are not getting fully logged in. What operating system are you using? It sounds like something is blocking you from fully logging in, especially if you chose "Remember me".

Parenting Subforum?

I think it would be good for the Planet to consider having a Parenting Subforum. It could fit under "Relationships, Communities, Groups". There are a number of people here with children and it could be a place for advice and support.

I personally don't have a kid, but was just wishing I did b/c I like to have an excuse to get up at 3AM on the day after Thanksgiving to stand outside of an electronic's store for a new XBox, or something. And yes, I actually mean that.

I'm surprised that with all of the parents on this forum, no one has chimed in thinking this was a good idea?

Maybe this needs a *bump*?

Sorry, June..lol I actually wasn't speaking to the Admin/mods asking that you all do this...I don't know if there is a desire for it....I was actually just trying to throw it out to the group, to see if there was some interest. It wasn't actually a "request" per se.

But, yes, patience is not my strong suit!

Maybe you missed the PM telling you you were demoted and lost some of your superpowers? :tease::bolt:

I did make one, but it showed up in the Moderator Forum, which won't do you any good. Let's wait for Linus. As a parent, I think it's a good idea.

I think he is traveling right now. Medusa may be able to do it as well, but I know she had a houseful today!

Thank you.:)

Some of us like to get over-stuffed with Torfurky and a great Canadian Ice Wine. :P

I will add it now.

ETA: me thinks the admin added it but going to suggest we move it first.

Linus 11-26-2010 10:52 AM

Fixed and moved.

Technical Question

Dear Admin / Linus,

Hi--

I have a quick question-- is there a manual for this site?
If so, can I get a link to it?

I have been trying to figure out for months now how people add comments to my "Thanked Post" page. Most people do not add comments, but there are some members who do...

HOW DO THEY DO THAT???

I used one of blackboot's posts for a trial run and I may have reported hys "birthday wishes" post. Sorry about that. How can I add the little tiny words to my "thanks"?

HAHAHAHA Niiiice, reporting blackboot's birthday. LOL If you comment and then thank, you can do both. If you thank first, you can't comment. Look for the scales not the exclamation. :) It's in the middle.

Soft*Silver 11-26-2010 11:41 PM

when I play majjoing solitaire, it blacks out at the end and I never get to see my score, let alone record it. Is it my computer or something in the system with my computer that is causing this? help please?

CherryFemme 11-27-2010 05:10 PM

Comment then Thank!

Thanks Arwen, June and LipstickLolita for all of your help!

Quick Question. I Think?

i have been looking around at the Forums, FAQ, Subscription Info. and everywhere else i think this question/answer could possibly be, but cannot find it. Is there a way to send one visitor message to all people on my friends list at one time?

Thanks!

Cara

Linus 11-28-2010 06:03 PM

Not off the top of my head. In fact, I would bet this would require a modification to code for this as it would be hugely inviting for spammers to use to their advantage.

Name Changes Question

I have a question, for whoever (Admin/June/Linus):

If a person wants a name change, do they need to announce the request/name change in the name change thread, or are people allowed to just PM Linus and he will change it (subsequently, changing the name on all past posts for that person)?

I like the ability to come back to the name change thread b/c there have been times when I read someone and know that they were someone else before, but can't put it all together...kinda makes me....:seeingstars:

Linus 11-28-2010 08:06 PM

The request must be public. It will be easy to tell anyways since older posts will also reflect the name change.

DapperButch 11-28-2010 08:25 PM

Quote:

Thanks, Linus.

No, my point was that since the name gets reflected in all past posts, if it isn't made public, then we wouldn't know the original poster.

Like, if I asked you to change my name to Fred through a PM, and you did so, DapperButch would cease to exist (appropriately). So, then if Sally Sue is looking at an old post and didn't know about the name change, she would think to herself....hmmm...I thought it was some other Butch who started that thread...I thought DapperButch started that thread...who is Fred?

If the name change does have to go through the name change thread, then Sally Sue can look to that thread to see who Fred is. So, I am glad it it that way.

That's what I was saying.

Thank you. :)
