What are three favorite activities you love to do with children

Three things I loved to do with my sons:

1) take them to the park and let them run wild and push them with merriment on the swings at the park.

2) late at night, when both of them were restless before sleep, I loved to read stories to them.

3) my sons loved to act out randomly as if there were movie stars or future hip-hop artists or skateboard junkies with clever witticisms that only youthful boys could dream of, so I made them a 'fort'of sorts and gave them specially made movie-actor credentials and helped them collect all kinds of theatrical wardrobe memorabilia.

What are three favorite memories of activities involving children?

*Reading the Harry Potter books in tandem with my 9 year old brother one snowy, cold March week.

I spent a week in SF, in one of those gliding chairs, holding Anika. She was so tiny and sleepy and warm.

*Every weekend spent with my cheeky nephew. He's a delight, he's curious and comical and engaged and manipulative and charming. And constantly learning new things. :)

What are three favorite memories of activities involving children?

Holding this small bundle of life in my arms as I sang to her, fed her and rocked her to sleep in my arms.

Talking and listening to the 11, 12 and 13 year olds in the Sunday School class I lead. I am there to try and help these young people make sense of this world and their place and strength in it. Really, sometimes I learn from them.

I love to just hang out with kids and let them talk, dream, and give them validation.


What are three things from your childhood you experienced that serve you in your adult life today?

1. Bicycle handlebars are there for a reason.

2. If there is enough blood involved even the toughest dad can/will faint in the E.R.

3. Try, try, again (and keep the health insurance up to date)
