A gentleman has his eyes on all those present; he is tender toward the bashful, gentle toward the distant, and merciful toward the absent. --Lawrence G. Lovasik

It bears repeating
Happiness is not having what you want. It's wanting what you have.

From now on I'm ordering my coffee straight up.
Not too mention I'm one of the "I'd like my latte extra hot please" people. It seems the rumours are true: The Barista's do hate us. *blink* Starbucks Fear |
I don't know how or why, but over the last couple of years I seem to have gotten a little hypochondria-ish. Which logically I know is stupid and silly, but sometimes it just wins. Like right now. Up in the middle of the night over something that's 99.9% not an issue.
Silly overactive brain. Calm down! Maybe I can sing a lullaby to myself... |

gettin' old is tough
A senior citizen goes in for his yearly physical with his wife tagging along.
When the doctor enters the examination room he says, "I will need a urine sample, a stool sample, and a sperm sample." The man, being hard of hearing, turns to his wife and asks, "What did he say?" The wife yells back to him, "GIVE HIM YOUR UNDERWEAR" |
Yankees vs. Red Sox
"I am a Yankees fan," a first-grade teacher explains to her class. "Who likes the Yankees?" Everyone raises a hand except one girl.
"Janie," the teacher says, surprised. "Why didn't you raise your hand?" "I am not a Yankees fan." "Well, if you are not a Yankees fan, then what team do you like?" "The Red Sox," Janie answers. "Why in the world are you a Red Sox fan?" "Because my mom and dad are." "That's no reason to be a Red Sox fan," the teacher replies, annoyed. "You don't always have to be just like your parents. What if your mom and dad were morons? What would you be then?" "A Yankees fan." |
Truth....lmao!

Remember the clear light, the pure clear white light from which everything in the universe comes, to which everything in the universe returns; the original nature of your own mind. The natural state of the universe unmanifest. Let go into the clear light, trust it, merge with it. It is your own true nature, it is home. -Tibetan Book of the Dead |

Many set themselves up for failure by thinking they should be happy constantly. When it doesn't turn out that way, they wonder what is wrong with them and/or their lives that they aren't feeling happy.
Instead, they should realize that happiness is an emotion - as are sadness, anger, surprise and excitement. If one realizes that all emotions ebb & flow, and let go of the theory that unless they are feeling happy the majority of time they are not "normal", many will soon figure out that life is easier to manage on a day-to-day basis. Why not focus on feeling contentment instead? Ask yourself, "Am I content right now?" If the answer is anything besides yes, try to figure out what you can do to help get yourself closer to the goal of contentment. Having said that, one must also remember that it is prefectly "normal" to feel sad, blue, anxious or other "negative" emotions from time-to-time. Do not discount these emotions. Often, when we deny or bury emotions, they will linger under the surface and find other, unhealthy ways of emerging. When you find yourself feeling sad, for example, allot a set amount of time to immerse yourself in the emotion and the causes for it; to think about why you might be feeling this way. And then focus on letting go of that emotion, of not allowing it to consume you. If it's a situation you can do something about, try writing possible solutions or plans to change it, then act on it. If it is something that you do not have control over, try telling yourself exactly that: "I do not have control over that. There is nothing at all I can do about it." and work on letting it go instead of allowing it to eat away at you. Practice this as often as needed. Practice makes perfect. |
