Just saw the new Footloose, and have to say I liked it. Stuck really close the original, some new music and moves, all the original songs with an update or two but they did a good job. I loved the original, and was almost afraid to see this one, but I wasnt disappointed

"The place where two discriminations meet is a dangerous place to live."

My church is showing this this weekend. I saw it a couple months ago and was mesmerized by it. It's an important, essential film and highly recommended.

AKA: Surfer Girl

As far as documentaries go, it was sub-par, but the surfing footage was awesome.

:hangloose:

Fast Five was Awesome !!!!
Nevermind the fact the Cast is encrusted with Diamond stars....
Or that the key Filming locations were mainly Puerto Rico sprinkled with Rio de Janeiro for 'realism/security' sake(a lot of the action is portrayed in the 'Favelas')...
It's got Plenty of outrageous Action, Comedy, some Drama, and "sad" moments....
Plenty of Car moments to drool over (the Ladies are just as Hawt , spitfire, witty ...heh ..)
Rather than "street racing" in $$$$$ kick-ass cars, this one revolves around Revenge and a seriously 'Fantastic' Heist...
If you haven't seen the other 4, you're safe...I didn't either, you might be momentarily confused with the "History", if you're like me, you'll quickly put 2 and 2 together with the right "="....

Gonna buy this one....

Another great one{if it's your cup of tea}

The American
With George Clooney...
Pretty good for those who enjoy Cloak & Dagger w/o excessive pointless shoot-fests and overtly prolonged who-done-it...
A pro hitman wants to retire, but is 'entrusted' with 1 last Mission, being ever suspicious of Everything, he's mostly careful in covering his Tracks, hiding within a rather nice Italian village....
Any more info. and I'd spoil it....
It's interesting, bumped into the Film on premium Cable, when I had a bout of Insomnia

Win Win

Starring Paul Giamati, Amy Ryan, Jeffrey Tambor, Alex Shaffer

Interesting story about life and decisions we make. Involves high school wrestling which is rather brutal to me.

I got distracted a bit by the characters. One character who played Paulie in the Rocky movies....was waiting for him to do Paulie stuff which he did in a way.

Also Alex Shaffer bears an uncanny resemblence to a young Olympia Dukakis. It's the hairdo and the facial expressions.

Once I got past the distractions, it was a very nice tho intense movie.

Ebon and I saw The Next Three Days. I didn't think it'd be very good, but it did turn out to be quite the adventure. Russell Crowe's smarter than I thought he was. Or at least the writers are. Good movie!

"The Help".....it is one that I would actually buy the disc for, and watch it over and over again!

Transcendent Man.... the life and ideas of Ray Kurzweil

Ray Kurzweil is a scientist and artificial intelligence specialist who is working towards and predicting singularity in the future....meaning technology will conquer biology and cyborgish state will follow.

I cant decide if this is intriguing or disturbing. I can see the technological developments emerging for which there are pros and cons. Biological cures in the form of technology the size of a blood cell implanted to "fix" us from the inside out is intriguing.

Yet, to see humans as we now know them to become obsolete in favor of AI driven beings who live in a virtual rather than a real world seems bizarre to me.

So much of this movie focuses on "intelligence", the development of, the expansion of, the benefits of....yet there is conspicuously no existence of humanity. After all, we mere humans are more than just our brains, arent we?

I'm having Lawnmower Man flashbacks here.

Alfred Hitchcock's - The Birds

Still gives me chills and leaves me scratching my head at the ending.

Starbuck 11-05-2011 11:45 PM

The last movie I saw was "GI Joe". Hey, I played with the toys when I was a kid, I thought maybe there'd be a decent storyline. HA! There was some action but overall the movie sucked; it just didn't flow.

Leading Ladies

I think this is supposed to be like a gay/lesbian version of the original Hairspray movie with a ballroom twist.

Dancing was good. Music not so good. Stereotypical gay/lesbian stuff was disappointing.

SoulShineFemme 11-06-2011 09:50 AM

ONLY and I watched Horrible Bosses (silly n raunchy fun!) and Crazy Stupid Love (kinda poignant and funny) yesterday on the phone. Both were pretty darn good! :)

ONLY 11-06-2011 09:57 AM

Anonymous.

Great film for the conspiracy theorists! I really enjoyed the political and social twists and turns. Whether you believe Shakespeare was a fraud or not the film is a gritty, realistic look through history and how people, both rich and poor, lived their lives.
