Sweet talking my work husband into ordering me a new phone for my office. Mine now sounds like it's been under water for three years. Things like a new phone are like Christmas morning here in the world of not-for-profits. I should have it in a few days :)

I was released from the depths of the cardiac floor of the hospital today. I am so, so happy to have such an amazing team of doctors that are helping me beat this one day at a time. I have a tough week ahead of me but at least it will be in the comfort of my own home and for that I am thankful!

Walking into the office yesterday and finding some drawings for me from sweet Amaya. She's a talented and sweet little girl who's a delight to be around. Lucky me.

Driving to work in my new car with all of the windows and the moon roof open while blasting Janis Joplin.

The infamous email we wait for every semester stating our names have been added as instructor! woot woot...now to get my "classroom" all set up!

Bevi having her old fashioned Kalvinator delivered for the ice cream shop. She says hearing the dropping of the Kalvinator lid is a childhood memory. At this rate we'll squeeze a month in at the ice cream shop but we will totally be ready for next year.

So pretty and I never knew they exsisted!

The gorgeous scenery of the Okanagan Valley. I'm in BC for work this week and the scenery is nothing short of wonderful.
Joy...all kinds of joy. |
I don't have a patio deck anymore, so I've hung both sets of patio chimes at the end of the chiffon curtains rod and when the oscillating fan moves the air in my home, the chimes make tiny tingling soothing sounds.
I also got my LED strings of lights put up in certain areas of the perimeter of my studio, which the LED lights add an ambient feel to my quarters at night. Even the gigantic red bow I hung on the inside of my front door, made me feel joy and happiness. Happy Happy, Joy Joy. <<<<<<<<--- still unpacking boxes of my stuff since I moved the first of summer. |

spending the evening with my serogate family. My daughter chopped up some fresh cold fruit which I hardly ever buy as it goes bad.
her husband (I call Mr. Handsome) did some computer stuff for me. My granddaughter sat with me all evening and laughed and hugged and played and I read to her. She just turned 3 and I love her to death. |
Tadpoles... A whole bunch of the tiniest tadpoles I've ever seen.

Neighbors in my new neighborhood who honestly like me and don't try to get all up my skirt about my life, where I've been, or being nosy (in general).
Just tonight, one neighbor drove by me after I had just parked the car and they waved the peace sign to me. Then another neighbor saw me struggling with my work bag, carrying it on my own, and they came up to me without one word and took the bag and helped me get it upstairs. It's nice to come home now, now that I have really nice neighbors. They respect my privacy and I respect theirs. It's just a breath of fresh air, the type of neighbor's I have now, and I feel joy, now that I live in a calmer community of like-minded people. I treasure the gift of my new neighborhood. :stillheart: |
A nice visit on a hectic day. About three months ago a young trans woman came in to my work for some resources, clothes, etc. I got her what she needed and she went on her way. She was new in town and I was worried about her. I gave her resources for our local LGBTQ centers and a few other things and I asked her to please come back and let me know how she's doing. She came in today all smiles, looking like a million bucks, and getting ready to register for school.

Making plans to spend the weekend with my sister. Our last chance for alone sister time before the baby comes.

Just got off the phone with my brother chatted for an hour. He has been out of province looking for a place to buy down east. We get along so well and I was missing him like crazy. We will go lunch soon. He lives 2 hrs away so he will come here. Nice to hear from him. He is the last of the 6 of our immediate family.

Delivering beginning of the semester gifts to the staff! It was like Christmas in August. How fun and exciting.

Picking up a load of lumber today and delivering it to my neighbors so we can build their wheelchair ramp tomorrow.

Last night- letting my nephews have a dance party in my new car- heads bopping out of the open moon roof.
Last night- giving my older nephew a piggy back ride and running up a hill getting him giggling in my ear. Last night, letting my younger nephew study the engine in my new car. He was impressed. |
A fun text exchange with my daughter.
She texted to let me know that her cabin-made for the coming school year (They lived together two years ago and are great friends) is transitioning to male, changing pronouns, and has chosen the name Elliot. I responded with: "Awesome. Thank you for letting me know. I do have one big concern. Can you ask Elliot if he is sure he wants to sign up for a lifetime of people quoting lines from the movie ET at him? Because for people of a certain age, like me, the name Elliot takes us right there" Followed by a you tube clip of the part of the movie where ET learns to say Elliot and keeps saying it over and over in his slow raspy voice :superfunny: (I've known him for years and he knows I'm a goofball and that I support him so he'll take it as a fun joke) |
My 8-year-old great-nephew, Slayde came home from school today and whispered in my ear that he has a secret. He asked a girl to be his girlfriend. She hasn't responded yet so he is waiting. :)
It made me feel good that he shared his secret with me. :) |
Today was first day of classes. So, I went in early for introductions and to support the new GTAs. I am glad I did because along with providing support, I got a lot of freebies like a car charger, tire pressure gauge, and.....and this is one of the best parts... a department secretary had just given up a school pennant! (Mostly, because I gave my best puppy-dog eyes and said she was going to give me it or find me one because (and I showed her my collection) i told her it was one i did not already have for my pennant wall!)
It was nice to feel loved...lol or threatening...not sure which. (but she is a tough cookie and knows how to say no....) So, it's backed to feeling loved |
My younger nephew playing in my car. He's very methodical. (part of his autism)
Pop the hood and check the engine. Get inside and open every window and the moon roof. Put on Baby Shark or Star Wars soundtrack. Dance with his head out the roof. Sit in the passenger seat and have me buckle him in. Unbuckle himself. Get in the back. Sit in all three seats. Buckle into one, unbuckle. Slide to the right. Buckle, unbuckle. Slide to the right. Buckle, unbuckle. Get in the driver seat. Buckle up. Pretend to drive. Repeat. He did do something new with me today though. I let him sit in the back belted in (I didn't have his car seat in the car right then) but I backed down the driveway and drove back up a few times and he thought that was the best ever. |
Yesterdays joys:
Happy messages from my cousin's daughter. She left for college on Monday and has been having a very teary hard time. I sent her a case of hot sauce to make the food taste better (She's a hot sauce junkie) She received it yesterday and it made her so happy. It's the little things. Taking elder nephew shopping for back to school supplies, and then to the pet store to look at Guinea pigs and Tarantulas and then getting ice cream. Bringing home a coloring book for younger nephew and having him snuggle on my lap to color. Having a lengthy discussion with elder nephew, while listening to Flogging Molly, about all of the reasons he still has to learn math even though his career goal is to be a spy and he thinks spies don't use math. |
Building my new computer desk :jester:

Today I learned that sometimes when you think something bad happeed and you are honest about it then really good things come to you. Lost friends found and the love of friends. My heart is full.

I looked over and Loki is in his tree, dreaming. He's wound up tight in a circle and the tip of his tail and his paws are just twitching like crazy. Next to him is Gracie, snuggled on her pillow in her chair next to him. I love my little critters and I am so happy that Loki's feeling better. He's been so miserable this past month, dealing with his bladder issues. Me too, because I had to clean up after him repeatedly but I wasn't the one in pain. Gracie too, because he's been awful to her. They tussle all the time and it's usually in good fun but he's been really mean and rough a few times.
Luckily, things seem to be calming down. Today he went in the corner box that he's been avoiding since the start of his illness. Yay! It's a sign that the new food is working and he's getting better. Next up is another urinalysis in a couple of weeks to see how far he's progressed. Soon, we can put this past us and get him on a food that won't cause issues with his giant, but very delicate, bladder. |
A good old fashioned heart to heart with my friend.
