The wind blown monsoons started during the night. Thankfully there are periodic breaks in the rain so there has been no flash flooding yet.

This is supposed to usher in some actual Fall weather. Hope they are correct.

61 right now, up to 86 today.

After 103, it will feel positively cool.

It is all relative.

PS: I checked Cal Fire.com this morning and a couple of fires are 100% contained but we have several still burning.

PSS: this is not the documentary thread but I want to mention the Netflix documentary on the Cal Fire fighters, prison women that train and fight California fires and local fire fighters. Hats off and a thank you to all. Netflix doc is called Fire Chasers.

Burr! 36 degrees here tonight and probably a light freeze here at my little ranch.

I hate winter so I will start complaining now.

Perhaps you wouldn't complain if you had some body heat to keep you warm on these cold night?

High wind warnings and flash flood watches are up again.

Apparently tropical storm Philippe, a midlatitude storm (whatever that is) and upper low to its west are going to meet up for Sunday brunch somewhere up in these parts.

Seems safe to wait until the morning to move my car out from under the tree.

Flash flood warning until tomorrow morning is currently in effect. The wind is hella wild out there. I noticed a praying mantis on our window screen this morning and they are still there. Must be shedding. Hope they can hang on through the winds that are to come. Up to 60 mph and up to 4 inches of rain possible. It'll become more and more clear as tomorrow progresses but up until lunch time, it's going to be a wicked wild ride.

There was less rain than anticipated but some locations actually had 80 mph winds and there were over 600,000 people in the NE without power, including us for a little while. One of my 40 foot trees was ripped up from the roots and split in the middle. We're thinking a small tornado touched down. Luckily, it's going to be a beautiful day today. Sunshine, light winds and in the low 60s.

Nice today. 50's, no humidity, little breeze, and lots of sunshine.

Nice change from yesterday with the hurricane force wind gusts and monsoon rains. Amazingly, there was minimal damage and only scattered power outages.

My brother, who lives in the woods of northern RI, is still on generator power, the phone service is out, and the cell service which is spotty even in good weather is down as well.
