Delicate-Damian Rice
Quote:
He said he would give away his fame, just to have her back. I find his lyrics so deeply cutting and fragile, coz he is so emotional. He could not write anything for 7 yrs after they ended.Delicate is I think my favourite song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRPwFAoQwxc |
They have an amazing vibe together, I was sad when they stopped collaborating. I have noticed that Lisa's independent music is a lot 'lighter' than what they had together.
It would be impossible for me to chose a favourite Damien song, he is such a brilliant song writer. Quote:

And I agree about Lisa,I kinda recon you could feel the intensity between them in the song writing as well,he would not have been writing in isolation from her. this is why I am facinated by song writers :),and it's great to meet others, who are into lyrics as well. As I said great thread, and I love hearing new music as well. He's actually not easy to play,he does funny strumming styles |

I saw her on the Sexuality tour. Amazing intro |
Of course from the audience perspective all you saw was a larger than life silhouette of her in red light. and then the curtain dropped.. it was a-mazing

A favorite of mine...
The Last Resort -- Eagles She came from Providence, the one in Rhode Island Where the old world shadows hang heavy in the air She packed her hopes and dreams like a refugee Just as her father came across the sea She heard about a place people were smilin' They spoke about the red man's way, and how they loved the land And they came from everywhere to the Great Divide Seeking a place to stand or a place to hide Down in the crowded bars, out for a good time, Can't wait to tell you all, what it's like up there And they called it paradise I don't know why Somebody laid the mountains low while the town got high Then the chilly winds blew down Across the desert through the canyons of the coast, to the Malibu Where the pretty people play, hungry for power to light their neon way and give them things to do Some rich men came and raped the land, Nobody caught 'em Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus, people bought 'em And they called it paradise The place to be They watched the hazy sun, sinking in the sea You can leave it all behind and sail to Lahaina just like the missionaries did, so many years ago They even brought a neon sign: "Jesus is coming" Brought the white man's burden down Brought the white man's reign Who will provide the grand design? What is yours and what is mine? 'Cause there is no more new frontier We have got to make it here We satisfy our endless needs and justify our bloody deeds, in the name of destiny and the name of God And you can see them there, On Sunday morning They stand up and sing about what it's like up there They call it paradise I don't know why You call someplace paradise, kiss it goodbye... ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |

Jazzman -- Carole King Lift me, won't you lift me above the old routine; Make it nice, play it clean jazzman. When the jazzman's testifyin' a faithless man believes He can sing you into paradise or bring you to your knees. It's a gospel kind of feelin', a touch of Georgia slide, A song of pure revival and a style that's sanctified. Jazzman take my blues away; Make my pain the same as yours with every change you play. Jazzman, oh jazzman. When the jazzman's signifyin', and the band is windin' low. It's the late night side of morning in the darkness of his soul. He can fill a room with sadness as he fills his horn with tears. He can cry like a fallen angel when risin' time is near. Jazzman take my blues away; Make my pain the same as yours with every change you play. Oh lift me, won't you lift me with ev'ry turn around; Play it sweetly, take me down, oh jazzman. ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |
Missing my Marine Corps friends....
Now and Forever -- Carole King Now and forever, you are a part of me And the memory cuts like a knife Didn't we find the ecstasy, didn't we share the daylight When you walked into my life Now and forever, I'll remember All the promises still unbroken And think about all the words between us That never needed to be spoken We had a moment, just one moment That will last beyond a dream, beyond a lifetime We are the lucky ones Some people never get to do all we got to do Now and forever, I will always think of you Didn't we come together, didn't we live together Didn't we cry together Didn't we play together, didn't we love together And together we lit up the world I miss the tears, I miss the laughter I miss the day we met and all that followed after Sometimes I wish I could always be with you The way we used to do Now and forever, I will always think of you Now and forever, I will always be with you ~Theo~ :winky::heartbeat::listening::bouquet: |
