I have a Star of David on my lower back that I have had for a long time... I think about 10 years. It also has my initials and birth date. It is faded and needs some work...but I still love it. At some point, I will have some touch up work done.

In 2008, during the infamous Florida trip, the lovely and amazing...and our very own, QueenofQueens, did the lion piece on my left shoulder ::stillheart::
(The pic isn't that great... sorry. It is much more vibrant in person :))

And last summer, my friend and local artist/tattooist, Leslie, did this Hamsa on my right shoulder.

I have one more which I have had since I was 19 (I'm 36 now)...it is old and faded and stretched. Basically, not worthy of a pic. It is a flower from a painting I did and located near my hip/pelvic area. At some point I will get that one covered/fixed-up too.

I've also got a few more ideas in the works...

Thanks Medusa!

If she lived closer to me, I am sure I would be broke
:cheer:

That's my problem. The artist I want to do my next ink lives a dang 2,000-plus miles from me.

Word on the streets is that you all are being awfully sweet to me in here.
Now, icksnay before you make me blush and stuff.

Smooches,
Quock

Ol' Jet: thanks for posting that. The Cherry Blossoms one was really interesting. I showed it to K and she's been wanting one. I suggested she get something like that (her favourite flower is Hibiscus and she loves swallows) with the birds swooping in the branches. (it's a promised tattoo I'd get her as a "marque" -- a reference to her favourite book, Kushiel's Dart).

Love that book/series.

I marqued myself.....a time in my life where I got me. The tat sound gorgeous

Love, love, LOVE the blossoms tat! I wish I'd been that bold when I started getting inked but I wasn't and I got smaller ones that have a common thread, but don't "go" together. They aren't cohesive.

I love tattoos.
I have two and I am getting a few more. I found a great site for tattoo art.

I'm thinking about this one as a cover-up... now if I can only figure out how to invert it (on the computer) and merge it to make a double winged version...

The one I'm covering up is too ugly to share here...

Print it as it is. Any decent tattoo artist can draw you up a front-facing butterfly. :)

I have 3 tatts:
  • right bicep - a small kokopelli. It is only 1,5 to 2 inches tall - now I wish I had gotten it made bigger.
  • right wrist - memorial tatt for my mom - a braid of sweetgrass, with a dreamcatcher on the inside of the wrist
  • left wrist - memorial tatt for my dad - tattered U.S. flag, with my father's WW II unit on the inside of the wrist.

The first tatt was done at a place in the village in Toronto that has since gone out of business. Design from a pin I bought when I was in AZ.
The two wrist tatts were designed and inked by Jacqueline at Yonge Street Tattoos (Linus introduced me to her) - she is awesome.

I would like to get more tatts but have trouble deciding on what/where I want. :deepthoughts: At one time I was thinking of sleeves but have decided against that as I want everything to sort of go together.

Thanks Gemme. I'll do just that and take it to my new neighbors... they are both tattoo artists. I'm anxious to see if it will work and be just the right size to cover up the old one. I HATE the old one.

Now I really AM moving in with you.

They should be able to give you options of different ways to cover your old tat up. If the print out isn't big enough, it can be enlarged, no problem. I have had the joy of working with a couple of really good artists and know that the good ones can work magic!

I really wish I'd figured out what I wanted (now) back in the day. The first artist that inked me was the best, imo. Though it's never been touched up and is my oldest at almost 10 years old, it's still beautiful and the colors are still good despite sun exposure (can't help it in FL). Unfortunately, the shop he worked at closed some time ago. :(

I have two extra bedrooms going cheep!!
My neighbors just moved in...I've been thinking all day about asking them what they think and researching their work. My old one is 16 yrs old and is a HORRIBLE ugly piece that reminds me of an even more HORRIBLE event in my life... if I can't have it surgically removed (completely - not lasers), then I'll settle for a cover-up... but it's got to be a really sexy one ;) ;) that replaces bad memories with good feelings. I love the butterfly or faerie that I posted earlier. Reminds me of a free spirit.

Definitely try to see if you can get it covered up. Cutting chunks out of your skin doesn't sound like fun.

I agree... but given the horrible memories, I would consider it an option.
