Griner averages either 8 or 9 rebounds per game in the regular season. She had 5 tonite and I think 4 of them were in the 1st half. She did have a double double tonite.

Baylor went to sleep the last 5 minutes of the 1st half. Kim must have given them a royal ass chewing .............give the big girl the ball every possession and you will win.....it's a no brainer, especially since Griner has a great eye and will pass for the better shot. They came out and played a damn good 2nd half.

ND was sluggish and cold the 2nd half. They did not seem to want the win. Novosel just could not get a basket to drop and that really hurt them.

Go Bears!!!!! AND this team will be back next year....no one is graduating....I understand that Kim has recruited a group of incoming freshman that are going to be as good as this bunch. Baylor is going to dominate Div I women's basketball for several years.....

edited to add: I think Sims proved she is the best point guard, not Skylar Diggins.

Unfortunately because of where I am at the moment, I did not get to watch the game. I did follow the ESPN updates, but of course that is not the same.

Baylor looked like a champ all season long and I believe they will be a tough team to beat next year as well.

Yep. I couldn't believe when i found out Griner is a Jr. and Sims is just a sophomore. I wish Baylor had open stock options...i'd take some out for the next couple of years.

Yeah...they deserved to win and i have a feeling next year won't be any different.

espn has a poll, ...

with baylor returning all five starters, what type of chance do you think the lady bears have of going undefeated next season?

good chance
small chance
no chance

so far ...

80% good chance
20% small chance
0% no chance

and, there's a good chance it will be baylor and notre dame in the final next year.

I know, with those returning players plus the ones they have recruited it seems all but certain they will be back for more.

I voted a good chance. As for ND, I am not sure I share the same opinion. But then again I am not a fan of ND.

Yeah, what's going on bud!

macele 04-04-2012 08:10 PM

i don't know who has the top class, ... recruits. i'm pretty sure it's not the lady vols. although i wish.

i'm not so sure about notre dame making it back to the final either. but no one stands out for me, a challenger for baylor. maybe maryland or duke. now when i say challenger, i just mean a team to fill the spot lol. if the lady vols make it to the championship game next year, i will be beside myself. i mean it. literally LOL.

princessbelle, i have those lady vol pom poms too. i don't know about you, but when i shake'em, i just get high fives lol. not that that is bad. off topic, the games are lovlied all up with lesbians lol. there should be a singles meeting before every game.

princessbelle 04-04-2012 10:27 PM

off topic warning

I know right? We will be watching the games and i'll say...."Look, i think she is a lesbian don't you?" Bully will be like "God, niki, i don't know, watch the game."

It takes me back to remembering how lucky i was growing up and having a softball field/basketball center within walking distance of my house. My first twinges of "my oh my" was blossomed there. I did learn to be a pretty good first baseman along the way. Oh and not a bad forward either. LOL.

mother had me late in life, so i have nieces and a nephew that are like sisters/brother to me, ... more so than my own siblings. one of my nieces, we've been to a few lady vol games together. she likes to point out to me. "yeah, gotta be!" lol ... i just let her believe what a great vibe she has lol.

i know what you mean. i was introduced to a lot of lesbians via travel teams, softball. learned a lot lol.

surely in the next month, pat summitt will tell whether she is coming back or not. i'm bracing myself. even though i know it's coming, now or a little later, ... i get emotional about it. whatever is decided, i'm ok with it. she/they know best.

That's cute about your niece.

Yeah about Pat....i haven't been an avid Lady Vols fan till Bully moved here but i have seen a few games over the years. Even though i knew what was going on with her now, and even though i knew that Holly had stepped up to the plate, it hurt my feelers to see Pat sitting on the side lines for 98% of the games.

We usually get seats directly across from Pat and the team and one thing that i did notice though is that she touches her face a lot. This can be one of the side affect of some of the Alzheimer meds. So, i'm hoping she may be adjusting to the medications and maybe she will come back next year. One thing for sure and i know Bully brought this up. The amount of people here that are Lady Vols fans is so heartwarming. The stands are always close to full and sooooo many shirts with the "We back Pat" words on them. I love this town.

*keeps fingers crossed that she is back a few more years. It just won't be the same without her at least by the team. :(

I'm not sure Coach Summit will be back. Her very long time assistant head coach Holly Warlick certainly did 99% of the coaching during this year. She is the heir apparent and deserves the title Head Coach. But hell who knows what Pat will do.....sorta retired worked ok for them this year............however TN needs to move forward under Coach Warlick. Their recruiting abilities will be greatly compromised if Pat does not step down.

I graduated high school in1970 in New Mexico. The only competitive sport for girls was gymnastics in NM. Texas has always been big on women's basketball even back when we played with 3 players at each end of the court....3 offensive players and 3 defensive players who could not cross the mid court line, plus there was a limit on the number of times you could bounce (dribble) the ball before you had to shoot or pass.....truth....honest I'm not kidding.

I told my great niece about this back when she was about 10 (she is 18 and graduating high school this year and a jock. She did not believe me....we had to get her Nana (my baby sister) to tell her it was the truth. She could not figure it out....WHO made those stupid rules was her repeated question.

uhhhh.......what was my point for the last 2 paragraphs.............ohhhhh yea..............women's sports has come a very long way and ONLY because of Title IX.

Pat Summit has stepped down as head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols after 38 years. She is now Head Coach Emeritus. She will still be involved with the team and the UT athletics department as a mentor and spokesperson. Holly Warlick, assistant under Pat for 27 years, is now Head Coach- and rightfully so.

I am incredibly sad and wish Pat all the very best.

To see how womens sports have progressed since I was a young kid is truly amazing. Pat had a major impact and leading role in that, along with Title IX and other things. Beyond all her victories and success as a coach she also has touched so many lives. Every single one of her players graduated with a degree from the University of Tennessee.

Here is a video with two former great Lady Vol players - Chamique Holsclaw and Carla McGee- giving their thoughts on Pat and what she means to the Lady Vol players.

We all pretty much knew it was coming...it hurts.

One thing i said to Bully after listening to a bunch of her team members from coaches to players, it stands out to me how supportive she has been/is to everyone she meets.

She truly believes in people. All people. I feel that is why she has stood so far in front as a leader.

So many stories we are hearing on local TV about her, it's hard not to shed some real tears of loss as well as pride.
