I love Imagine Me & You and I Can't Think Straight! I have not thought of them or watched them for awhile. Thanks for reminding me :)

Some of my favorites are films that I can enjoy watching over and over again. Life Partners is a recent and surprisingly good film. In addition, I really liked The Kids Are Alright. To me, these films all feature well-developed characters who just happen to be queer. It's nice to see films that show that lgbt people are just like everyone else. They face the same lows and highs in life regardless of gender or orientation.

"The Crying Game"

MsTinkerbelly 12-12-2015 12:18 PM

We watched "Liz in September" last night.

The movie is done in Spanish, with English subtitles. I wish the movie had been twice as long...the characters cried out to be examined thoroughly!

The movie was sweet and somewhat innocent, with very little nudity.

Big thumbs up!

Yes or No and Yes or No 2. My favorite cute lesbian movies.

I really enjoy the movie Bound! I love any movie about the mafia but when two dykes rip off the mafia and get away with it,:hangloose: it's even better

Jenny's Wedding (2015) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3289712/

Saving Face 2004

A Chinese-American lesbian and her traditionalist mother are reluctant to go public with secret loves that clash against cultural expectations.

The first lesbian movie have I really enjoyed in a long time (where one did not die of a dread disease or something terrible happening) was one I just saw recently:

Below Her Mouth.

One is more androgynous and one femme.

The sex is very realistic and hot. I think they are far better than the sex scenes in Blue is the Warmest Color.

Overall, it was very good.

-Tomboy (2011) was a pretty good movie; it's spoken in French but you can get English subtitles.
-Boys Don't Cry, is also a good movie (about a transboy; Brandon Teena).

Pariah....(2011)

A coming-of-age story.. Humming with the electricity of repressed sexuality finally breaking free, “Pariah” follows teenage Alike (Adepero Oduye) as she embraces her queerness and masculine gender expression.

Dee, have you read it? Book is so good too.

indigo 08-01-2017 05:57 PM

As I prefer reading to feed my own visual imaginary, I didn't watch a lot of films on that topic yet. I enjoyed "Blue is the warmest Colour", though, the way intimacy and personal struggles are displayed.

Maurice.......(1987) James Wilby, Rupert Graves, Hugh Grant

After his lover rejects him, a young man trapped by the oppressiveness of Edwardian society tries to come to terms with and accept his sexuality.

homoe 08-19-2017 08:11 PM

TomGirl ...(2015)

Jake, a gender non-conforming seven year-old, invites us into his world to explore the transforming power of love and support on our children.

homoe 08-23-2017 08:48 AM

Other People stars: Jesse Plemons and Molly Shannon.

A comedy writer is forced to leave New York City and return home to Sacramento in order to care for his dying mother.

Why 'Other People' is one of the best gay movies: Cancer and coming out are two themes that have been covered to death on the Sundance indie circuit, but Other People transcends the potential cliches with a thoughtful and surprisingly funny take on family dramas, featuring exceptional performances from Jesse Plemons and Molly Shannon.

The Girl King (free on Netflix)

Christina of Sweden ruled from 1632 to 1654. She also had a number of lesbian affairs throughout her life, and was remarkably chill about it for a woman of that period of history. It's great to see queer history kept alive for a new generation.

Mostly because of Joe Pantoliano, though lol. He was hilarious in that. I'm not a big Gina Gershon fan. Jennifer Tilly was hot though

I watched this today also. Was wishing my parents could see it – it actually makes them look good. They behaved much better than the parents in the movie!

Recent

Paula-Paula by Jess Franco...I like strange..and naked ladies.

Esme nha Maire 08-30-2017 01:59 AM

I recently saw a French film subtitled in English called Gazon Maudit, which roughly translates to "Cursed Lawn" (The English release was called "French Twist" for some reason, although why on earth they didn't call it 'Queering the pitch", which nicely translates the sentiment of the original French, IMO, I've no idea!).

At first I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy the film - it's certainly not perfect - but after a bit I took to it. Me oh my, my libido was like the donkey caught between two bales of hay! I was very surprised to learn, later, that neither female lead is lesbian. Yes, yes, I know, acting. Well, damn! (chuckle)

I love this thread. I was given some £25 Amazon vouchers as a parting gift from my ex-colleagues, and I've just chosen 6 DVDs and a paperback for £21 and change after reading the reccomendations here. :-)

Keep the reccomends coming, folks!

i rewatched it this morning with Mr. Jenny and she felt it kind of dragged after the countess left. I am interested in the Protestant Reformation and familiar with the philosophers and clerics who show up so I had not noticed a drag when i watched it by myself
