DEEP FRIED KLONDIKE BARS... OMFFFGGGGGGG
:-) Starry |
the giant turkey legs and the corn on the cob!
|
Funnel cakes, elephant ears, candy apples, cotton candy, corn dogs and kettle corn. If there's super sweet tea to wash it down with, all the better.
|
I haven't been to a fair since I was a small child. So let's see, I loved the corn on the cob. Of course a corn dog. My favorite thing was the soft ice cream with swirled flavors in them like carmel or rasberry. Do they still have that?
|
BBQ sandwiches. I have only experienced a Viking in Montana—its seasoned ground beef on a stick, dipped in a cornmeal batter and deep fried. Lots of mustard and its just this side of heaven.
|
I love slushy lemonade drinks, not too sweet.
|
Prior to dieting, my most favorite thing to eat at the fair...In this order:
#1 COTTON CANDY!!! I'm a junkie with this stuff and could never get enough. #2 Candy Apples #3 Snow Cones (adding cherry, grape and orange syrup) #4 Corn Dog (never had one and thought it would be nasty until I had my first one at the Minnesota State Fair years ago) YUMMMMMMMM....! |
From the time I was 12 until I was 19, I had the pleasure of working carnivals and county fairs every summer, but haven't been to any in many years.
My first choice is cotton candy and am still an addict to this day I'd have to follow that up with elephant ears and lemonade shake ups Also will add foot long corn dogs because a person has to have meat every now and then while working long hours I spent a lot of years eating whatever the mess tents served up to employees first thing in the mornings since the carnivals weren't officially open at that time. Some of those mess tents had some pretty darn good cooks. |
Tickets for Oklahoma State Fair go on sale tomorrow! It's not until September but the events sell out quickly!. Ah after 14+ days of 100+ weather I am ready for the fall. A couple of years ago they took our fair down to 10 days which increased attendance and made everything a lot better.
I can smell the roasted corn as we speak! Yummmmy |
i once had deep fried pop tarts on a stick!!! Delish!!!
|
Foot long, deep fried corn dog with mustard on the side, washed down with an ice cold drink.
|
Washington and Oregon fairs have 'Walla Walla Burgers', big burgers with LOTS of fried sweet onions with a side of curly fries.
|
|
stumbling across this thread makes me hungry.
-turkey leg -funnel cake -corn dog -lemonade |
funnel cake!!!
recently i got hooked on deep fried oreos, but i feel like a chump admitting that, because it goes against my funnel cake/candy apple/caramel apple/sausage with peppers and onions upbringing! |
Smoked giant Turkey legs
Corn Dogs Onion Ribbons Roasted Corn on Cob Boiled Peanuts Funnel Cakes all time fave Cotton Candy |
Ive never been to a fair or anything but some of this food sounds awesome :)

Lemon Shake ups, extra lemon :)
strawberry funnel cakes those are my two.major.favs. |
I used to loveee the baked potatoes at the Big E....but after waiting in line for a Brazilian years, I found the toppings were scant... and the potato not so big...or delish :(
This year, I will have the cream puff which is legendary...fried dough w/ cinnamon and sugar....and I will attempt to try something deep fried, either Oreo or Twinkie...or Snickers...? :| OH...and the hand cut French fries from Jack's. That is my dad's legacy :) I'm sure there will be other things.....I'm going more than once this year... http://www.thebige.com/fair/activities/Food.asp |
All hail the lemon shakeup...though the one I got at the state fair last weekend paled in comparison to the ones I get at our local festival.
And two words, planeteers: fried oreos. OH MY GODDESS. if you haven't had fried oreos...you are missing out. |
Carnival food
I love the roasted corn........yummy!
|
oh yum!
The best thing i EVER had at a food fair was a Krispy Kreme Chicken Sandwich
•fried chicken patty topped with Swiss cheese tucked between two Krispy Kreme raspberry jelly-filled glazed doughnuts sooo good. |
