Intentional Community is what we've been building with this planet. I can see this in real-time.
Can we have Zombie Street and Penpal Lane and ..... |

I think there should be community meals in the "Mess Hall" every night. Those who can't pay, even sliding scale, can contribute in some other way. I wouldn't get tired of it as long as I had private space to get away. It is always difficult when humans are put together in one place; disagreements, misunderstandings. There would probably be a need for community meetings, often. There would have to be rules and consequences that we create and agree upon. And the larger the group, the harder it is to police or find command ground. So size matters. |
I would love love love this! As far as what I can contribute, I am an awesome cook, even for large crowds. (I once held the position of Convent Cook at Boystown. There weren't THAT many nuns there at the time, but we had quite a few in residence, plus they were always having people joining them for meals).
I would also want my own space to retreat to. I would love having the option of being around everyone, but there are just times, yanno? Anyway, someone also talked about preferring to just pay rent and continue working in their field. I am the same way, I can work wherever I happen to be with my business, as long as I have REALLY GOOD INTERNET CONNECTIONS! So I could easily picture Mon-Fri working for my own biz, then Sat & Sun helping cook, clean, and all that community stuff. I also would vote for someplace with a temperate climate most of the year, if possible. I don't do bugs, don't do the bad snakes, don't like extremes in temperatures anymore. altho, if I have air-conditioning and a nice fireplace (or better yet someone to snuggle up with when its cold!), I could probably live about anywhere. |
Let's name the streets!
We have: Zombie Street Penpal Street I'd like to see a "You are belong to me Way" |

Sorry...Regains composure.... |
If this were a reality, I would love to live there. I would gladly assist in the marketing end of the community's needs. Doing outreach, plugging it at events, assisting with tours, etc.
I would like to run a bed and breakfast tho, for visitors. Family members, friends, dates, etc. The B&B would also host community events, like huge potlucks and after dinner theater and special guest lecturers. My B&B would have a berry patch, herb garden and chicken flock. I need a cook tho. I cant handle cooking for the public... |
I can.....
be a NURSE on Belle's PINK WING..... along with Always2Late....I have Firefighter/EMT skills....am awesome cook....great "go to person", incredible listener.....crafty/artsy....can't do any chores BUT can contribute in many other ways.
I agree on there be accomodations as we "age" and anyone who can no longer care for themselves..... DEFINITELY fishing pond, medicinal herb growing facility, individual quarters as well a communal "mess hall" (optional to dine in), a farm with hens, cows, goats, an herb (for cooking) area, an onsite bakery (fresh baked goods (for everyone), an onsite brewery, dance hall/game room, huge outdoor grill and firepit area, a definitive MELON PATCH so Scorp is NEVAH without melons (lmao)..a :canoworms: bed for fishing bait (G can prolly built a "green" one), and a masseuse....OH, a most definite :rubberducky: pond for duck races...smiles...that is all ...for now... |
We do need someone to do massage, reiki, healing, etc!
And that means we need a meditation hall/ massage parlor (not THAT kind!) |
Time shares for those who don't want to do the full-time thing but wouldn't mind a little immersion every now and again.

I'd like to see various housing options, depending on budget, needs and desires. We would probably like a one floor home with a nice porch for our rockers in the front, and a screened porch in the back. We might like to see an "over 50" area so it would be quieter where we lived.
I'd rather see each individual or family be responsible for their financial needs, with some communal obligations. Maybe a fee to maintain the property and needs such as security, taking care of the pool, and stocking the pond. There could be some cooperatives set up for things like child care or a small convenience store. There would be individuals and families of all ages. All visitors would be allowed, as long as they were allies of the community. There would be rules of conduct and an elected board of some sort, with a time limited term. Throughout the year, there would be opportunities for socializing and culture. We could have a club house or small venue to host some good music, plays, exhibitions. It could be open to the public for special events, providing a chance for good will in the community. Activities would be organized by interested members, including local trips and vacations, hobby clubs (hiking, crafts), biking, cooking class, painting, etc.... We would figure out a way to provide for members who could no longer care for themselves, and step in when family and loved ones couldn't or wouldn't. I am a social worker, and I can help with dealing with families, seeking and securing needed services, and stuff like that! I have so many more thoughts...if this ever moved toward becoming a reality, I'd love to be involved in the brainstorming process. |

Oh hey - I've been vaccinated for rabies - so I could be the resident wild-animal catch-and-re-releaser.
Except poisonous snakes and monkeys - those are hard limits for me. I'll even come capture your spiders and bugs and re-release :) |
