Spending the holiday in the country with my parents, brother, aunt and uncle. I'll be making spinach dip, strawberry pretzel salad, broccoli salad, and green bean casserole. I'm also making this cranberry relish that I heard about on NPR the other morning. It sounds funky but delicious, to me. My mom is skeptical...lol.

My big brother and I will toss the football as we always do on Thanksgiving, and we're all hopeful that my aunt and uncle will keep the politics and bigotry to a minimum this year. :)

I don't have any family family here in Texas. I do have some excellent friends who include me in their family functions. So blessed!!

kittygrrl 11-21-2016 02:15 PM

Just found out my local organic market will have blackberries available..so as a surprise I will be making a blackberry crisp for spouse..he will love it

Orema 11-21-2016 02:48 PM

Was going to a friend's home, but she's cancelled. Will stay home, watch movies, smoke the good stuff, talk to family on phone.

Could be so much worse.

We were going to some friends who cancelled also, so I'm going to cook our dinner and we will be here alone unless some of the grandkids decide to show up. But since I made my stepdaughter move out I have become "the bad guy", so I doubt very much any of them show up.

gotoseagrl 11-21-2016 06:01 PM

I don't like the part about deciding who to spend the time with when people are so spread out. But aside from that there will be lots of old-fashioned pie making this week. :)

Medusa 11-06-2017 12:08 PM

It's that time again!!

I'm spending Thanksgiving with JD's family and will be rustling up a pumpkin pie, some kind of veggie, and whatever bread they want (usually homemade cheddar bay biscuits).

We eat and then sit around and chit-chat. Something tells me that this year we might be taking JD's Mom out to shop. (and I kinda love it!)

Thanksgiving

OMG, I think that I have to cook. My mom keeps inviting relatives to my house. Ugh.

kittygrrl 11-06-2017 03:09 PM

JDeere 11-06-2017 04:54 PM

Folks are going out of town. I will be here and going to my sister's house for the feast.

Gemme 11-06-2017 06:46 PM

We're going to DC's cousin's house in MA and having an Irish Italian mix of a Turkey Day.

girl_dee 11-06-2017 07:32 PM

if i am not volunteering somewhere, i’ll be having a down day in my jammies.

Either way, i’ll be counting my blessings......

MsTinkerbelly 11-06-2017 07:59 PM

We are going to have Amy and her boyfriend over for dinner.

So very grateful:praying:

cinnamongrrl 11-07-2017 05:43 AM

My mother is hosting the event. There will be a full house for sure. On top of the usual suspects, we will be adding my sweetie and his mother and youngest son, my youngest daughter is bringing her southern. Beau and my eldest is bringing a friend friend.

All total it'll be about 15 people. In my mother's little cottage lol. Should be fun. I've missed so many holiday get togethers. I'm very much looking forward to this one :)

kittygrrl 11-10-2017 11:26 PM

Just taking some time to plan Thanksgiving 2017..but the menu always stresses me out..i want to try a few different things this year, for instance a Chocolate Cream pie..but even that is complicated:hk11:

BullDog 11-11-2017 03:53 PM

I'm going to my friend's in Albuquerque. I can't wait to see her and she is a great cook, so there will be plenty of yummy home cooked food - which I really miss. Also, I get to snuggle with the babygirl Shih Tzus!

candy_coated_bitch 11-11-2017 04:35 PM

I'm going to my aunt's and uncle's. My sister, parents, and some cousins and significant others will be there. And of course I'm bringing my butch.

cathexis 11-11-2017 05:18 PM

Going to a Community Thanksgiving Dinner offered free by a local church.

Don't forget to send positive energy to those who cannot celebrate Thanksgiving, including the People of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Cuba.

kittygrrl 11-17-2017 09:19 AM

https://i.pinimg.com/736x/94/e8/20/9...thday-cake.jpgFinally settling on a menu today and shopping...so far the only thing different is i'm going to be making a vegan birthday cake that i've made before from "so you're dating a vegan" love that channel! Spouse loved the cake.....i didn't tell him it was vegan :byebye:

C0LLETTE 11-17-2017 09:36 AM

I did it. Canadian Thanksgiving was in October. If we wait till November we risk being thankful for severe frostbite.

clay 11-17-2017 09:52 AM

Going to visit a week "there".....(way "up" there...see...lol...

Katniss 11-17-2017 02:38 PM

Migration patterns

Have decided to shake things up this Thanksgiving and head down to the Fl. Keys for the week. The teen wants to visit a marine research institute and discuss the effects of cello music on the growth of coral. She is really into coral conservation....and indigenous carnivorous plants. Gotta' diversify. I told her as long as I get some time on a sailboat I'm game for anything.

So, no turkey and fixings for us. Thinking more along the lines of grouper and oysters and frou frou drinks with little umbrellas.

Katniss~~(so happy to do something different this year!)

Teddybear 11-17-2017 08:32 PM

I will be driving about 1900 miles from Thursday till Sunday. I'm thinking maybe a little dinner this weekend. Haven't planned it yet we will see

Logicaly 11-18-2017 12:50 AM

We are going over to my Dads house, the whole family, cousins, aunts, 2nd cousins. Going to have a big massive dinner and hang out with family, so very excited.

girl_dee 11-18-2017 04:51 AM

i found a place to Volunteer and now my sister is coming in late in the day, we will just hang out.

Liam 11-18-2017 06:06 AM

I'll be working four hours and getting paid for eight, I like that! Afterwards I think it will be a movie and Chinese.

Mopsie 11-18-2017 06:12 AM

We usually get together at my parents but they had their kitchen redone back in October and it kept dragging on. Long story short they still don't have a working kitchen so looks like we're going to my brother's house. I'm bummed cause my brother who lives in Wisconsin isn't coming since he just started a new job. But otherwise should be good since I'm not working until Sunday. :)

Okiebug61 11-18-2017 08:20 AM

We always have Thanksgiving with my aunt and uncle.
Red does most of the cooking accept the garlic mashed potatoes that my uncle has always made.
Menu
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Dressing
Greenbean Casserole
Baked Beans (its an Okie thing)
Candied Yams
Pecan Pie
Pumlpkin Pie

The only thing I make is my grannies famous yeast rolls. I was the only one in my family that took the time to see just how much a pnich of this and a dash of that really is :-). She would be 115 if she were alive today.

Wishing all of you a joyful holiday season filled with love and peace.

girl_dee 10-17-2018 07:10 PM

I will be with ALL of my family over the span of the week.

SO excited!

Logicaly 10-19-2018 09:37 PM

We are having a family gathering and massive feast at my Dad's house. It will be the first holiday since his passing, and the last Thanksgiving we have in the house since we are planning to put it on the market later next year.

It will be good to fill the house with lots of love, family, and memories. Plus the food is going to be amazing, bright_arrow makes an AMAZING pumpkin pie. Seriously, its worth every single bite.

easygoingfemme 10-20-2018 06:04 AM

Hopefully a family reunion with cousins, Aunts, and Uncles. We're trying to find a block of hotel rooms that can accommodate two adult cousins who need wheelchairs and suites for the younger cousins to have slumber parties in.
