Soft*Silver 04-22-2011 03:44 PM

because of the surgery, I made out my living will, power of attorney, and my will....its all legal and official...now I can go into the surgery and have no pause for concern if I do not come out of the surgery alive. This is a huge accomplishment. And one everyone should consider, even tho they are not going into surgery. Affairs need to be in order.

Wryly 04-22-2011 03:57 PM

Cleaned the area around the computer.
Packed up some donations for the womens shelter.
Made grocery list for tomorrow.
Did some research for a friend's upcoming trip.
My sister and I went to Queenston and had a nice walk along the trails.
Had dinner cooked and eaten before 6pm.
All ready for the hockey games to start!

Daktari 04-22-2011 04:14 PM

  • Hundreds of dandelions picked out
Bird crap cleaned off her car
    Made mac and cheese
    Watered garden and veggies
    Given a massage
Read the first part of a Customer Service text book
    Sang lots of songs

She deserved having those chores and other such things done for her today. Tomorrow might not be so.

MsTinkerbelly 04-23-2011 01:48 PM

Fixed breakfast for my family
cleaned the house, ok I had help...lol
Made menu and checked recipes for our brunch tomorrow
showered and dressed
now off to the store.

Going to come home and prep what I can for the brunch
and finish packing for vacation.

Cowboi 04-23-2011 04:07 PM

Did 4 loads of laundry, (ummm I love clean sheets) Played golf in the afternoon.

justkim 04-23-2011 04:17 PM

This morning at work...
Fullset of nails
Pedicure
Not bad for a Saturday...

This afternoon...
Finished my postings for class...
Now I am drinking coffee and running around here looking for trouble...

lipstixgal 04-23-2011 04:23 PM

WE cleaned out some drawers and threw stuff out and dusted the furniture, then had dinner of pot roast and she had potatoes with it. NOw getting ready some TV and relaxation for the night.

Nina 04-23-2011 04:27 PM

I did some sewing on the bags which have been sitting and waiting for me to 'do some sewing' for a good month...

I don't feel 'accomplished' as much as I made a dent in my inertia...

if I could get them done then I'd qualify as a full on 'accomplishment'...
they are not hard, I'm just tired of the whole style...

(or perhaps I am just lazy!) :>

Soon 04-23-2011 05:08 PM

made some breakfast for us
relaxed
napped
laughed
enjoying my holiday

Queerasfck 04-23-2011 05:10 PM

Quite a lot actually.
  • went to the gym, did a long workout including mega legs and 3 miles of cardio
  • went to the grocery store
  • found the cooler (which was no easy task!) for the family picnic at the zoo tomorrow
  • almost done making my mom's special potato salad to bring to tomorrow's event
  • laundry, lots of it

:tiger:

DapperButch 04-23-2011 05:16 PM

Showered. :bath:

I'm pretty proud of that.

JustJo 04-23-2011 07:09 PM

...flew in on the redeye from AZ (landing 2 a.m. AZ time, 5 a.m. FL time) :flying:

...drove 1-1/2 hours home, stopping for coffee and a bagel on the way

...hauled my suitcase and computer bag into the house

...petted all the animals, since they all came to greet me

...crawled into bed next to my sweetie and slept until noon

...put a load of laundry in

...stalked Scoote online and noticed that she reeeaaalllllyyyyy wanted to go to the beach

...the two of us piled in the car, drove to Strawberry's for a yummy burger, and then headed to the beach :beachkids:

...walked on the sand, got a little wet, found several coconuts but not many shells

...stopped for ice cream (for her) and a chocolate malt (for me) on the way home

...cleaned up the pool a little bit

...sat on the couch to watch tv together and fell asleep :alarm:

...woke up to eat a yummy dinner my sweetie made :love1:

Nina 04-23-2011 07:24 PM

I have moved closer to 'accomplishment'

the six bags are ready for the final top sewing and then I needa put in the rivets...

they are all hanging and ready for me to finish them tomorrow...

at which point I will have moved from 'accom' to be able to add the final 'plish'

I guess I could say that I *have* accomplished getting closer to being done than I was this morning...HA!!...the straws are a falling' fast and I'm grasping them as quickly as I can!

Wryly 04-23-2011 08:50 PM

Started watching hockey at noon! Didn't budge from my seat for a few hours. Then decided I'd have to if I wanted to eat tomorrow. So my sister and I went and picked up some groceries.
I will be housesitting in early May for a friend and will be out of town. So we then went and cast our ballots at an advance poll for the federal election.
We hurried home and cooked dinner and then turned the hockey games back on.

Sunday...

Slept in 'til 9:30 :cheer:
Went out to breakfast with my sweetie
Home Depot...got a new kitchen faucet and arranged the installation
Old Navy...got $135 worth of clothes for $40 :cheesy:
Picked up a few groceries
Did a couple loads of laundry
Baked cornbread to go with my sweetie's chili (even though she insists that cornbread doesn't "go with" chili...crazy woman)
Stepped on a big beetle in the laundry room...didn't squish it since it was under the arch of my foot, but I did feel it wiggle
Watched a movie

bright_arrow 04-25-2011 10:27 PM

Slept in cuddled up to my hunny
Ate brunch before work (salt potatoes diced with some ham, crumbled corn bread and topped with cheese and sourcream)
Went to work
Faxed our service agreements to Verizon from work to get our $50 rebates for our phones
Spoke with assistant manager to get my time off request approved

Snacked a little before settling on oatmeal made with brown sugar
Added diced strawberries remaining in fridge
Reset Internet connection because it's storming outside and there's a lot of rain
Watching tv and texting my hunny things we need to do on our days off this week

Camo Eagle 04-25-2011 10:35 PM

More leaves raked.
Vines on house trimmed back.
Most of my living rm book cases refilled and the books cataloged

JustJo 04-26-2011 07:08 AM

Yesterday...
  • lots of work for work....emails cleared after a week away, conference calls, etc.
  • did some laundry
  • a little pool maintenance...swept the sides and steps
  • made sandwiches for lunch....with my sweetie...it was a team effort
  • worked til 6
  • went out to dinner....yummy
  • assembled the first of two chaise lounges to go poolside :)
  • cussed less than last time we assembled stuff

And so far this morning...
  • made coffee
  • filled animals water and food
  • petted Mabel and scolded her (sorta) for being on the counters again...what can you say...she's the Queen of the house
  • checked plants out front...one I thought was dead is coming back...yay for rain!
  • located the drain pipe that's sending a trickle of water from the AC unit into the garage
  • Mickey Moused a fix with some leftover pipe and a brick...should work
  • swept up the water on the garage floor
  • put the mat outside to dry in the sun

Kätzchen 04-26-2011 11:12 AM

Yesterday:
I slept, off and on, all day

(thankfully, nothing 'burned down' yesterday)

Today:
I'm tending to fires again ...

(priorities: work, my study that needs to be done by Thursday, family stuff, etc.)

Guy 04-26-2011 12:37 PM

Saving the luv-bugs

but It was obvious they were to busy to even care

Canela 04-26-2011 03:08 PM

Negotiating the price on an event hall for a fundraiser. Since it's for a non-profit, I got it for free! Woohoo!

Duchess 04-26-2011 03:16 PM

I actually took the day off. Met my girlfriends for brunch and they let me have it for not making enough time for them and working too damn much!!

My accomplishment for the day is realizing how important it is to nurture friendships. It's really hard sometimes to find genuine friends and they deserve time, effort, loyalty and honesty. I am truly blessed.(f)

Duchess

bright_arrow 04-27-2011 12:25 AM

Ate before work(a serious accomplishment!): special k and a blueberry muffin
Worked, worked and worked some more
Helped co-worker apply for more jobs
Reminded asst mgr about my time off request and he a-okay'd it
Looked into work-provided life insurance (it's pretty cheap but I'm not entirely comprehending it)

Grocery shopped on lunch once the hell storm took a break (sheets of rain and hail that tore our flowers all to hell :( ).. fell off the healthy weight loss track and was reading Jo's thread about about healthy weight loss and it guilt-tripped me into getting back on it! So my shopping included: whole wheat pita pockets, Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax granola bars, pineapple bites, red seedless grapes, baby carrots, lettuce, asparagus, artichokes, boneless chicken breast for tomorrow's dinner, a bag of Harvest Cheddar sun ships, and a diet pepsi to curb my soda craving and some chicken caesar pasta salad for my lunch.

Came home and put groceries away..was in a mindless food craze so made a bowl of cereal because I didn't trust myself to not binge, and snacked on a snack pouch of the pineapple bites (80 cal packs) and a granola bar. Only finished the bowl of cereal, one granola bar and a few of the bites.

Now going to marinate chicken breast in italian dressing overnight.. Paired with jasmine rice and steamed asparagus tomorrow night. Will be making a lemon-glazed poppy seed 'cake' for dessert.

Goals to accomplish tomorrow: ReCycle, get year-round tires put back on my truck (after bribing Bard with DD coffee and a donut), turning in a whole lotta change we got perhaps.. make final payment on my dress.. dishes.. then home to cuddle and watch the storm come in again that we're hearing about.

:seeingstars:

(Thank you Jo for creating this thread. On the days I think I've been lazier than sin, typing it all out makes it sound like a lot more :hangloose: )

I have been pretty quiet all day today, but...

I finished my study - so I can turn it in tomorrow,
made a few phone calls today,
made some supper (a vegetable stir fry w/noodles)
made tentative plans for the weekend,
and plan to read for pleasure tonight before bedtime.

Belle, (f)

How do you kill weeds with vinegar? Do you mix it up with water & pour it directly on the weed itself? I have a couple of weeds in the front lawn that I want to kill, but have no idea of how too. I have used the usual weed killer from Home Depot that you hook up to a water hose.

Thanks,
Andrew

While I was browsing care2.com I came across this article and found out about using vinegar to kill weeds, for those that asked:

Kill weeds and crabgrass growing in sidewalks and driveways by pouring vinegar onto them. A half-and-half solution of vinegar and water can even kill garden slugs if it’s sprayed directly onto them.
