For a beautiful little girl with sweet freckles, Zahra, and sweet little Kyron Horman with his adorable, contagious smile.... and all neglected, abused children who need a safe haven and someone to look out for them and love them.

For so many children....

... for those that go home to no heat and no food

... for those whos parents cannot manage their own lives and addiction, let alone their childrens

... for those who need help, medication, and attention... but are told there is "nothing wrong with them"

... for the ones who slip through the cracks

... for those who by 13 have already become to hard to show they care

Especially this time of year my heart goes out to children, I go to work each day in a place that is supposed to support and nurture children. A school, where they should feel safe, protected, and comfortable. I know it isn't true. They come to us from broken homes, endure bullying and harassment within our walls, and leave us to be beaten and abused. I want to do more... and I will always do all I can. so tonight....

... for the ones I can't reach.

I made my reservation to see her. Leaving January 11. It will be the dead of winter in Switzerland. I've borrowed a heavy coat (hoe do you pack that?), but need gloves. I have Reynaud's, a disease of the circulatory system, worsened by cold. I don't know what kind of gloves to get, have long fingers for women's, and too narrow for men's. Please PM me if you have suggestions. I'm sorry to take up space here with this. I am just so grateful to be able to go that I get stupid.

For my dearest Jess, know that I wish I were home during this most difficult time. I hope that your family can find some peace in the process of letting go and that even though you all just want more time, that its not drawn out in unnecessary suffering.

For Uncle Doug, know that as you move from the world to the next, you've been loved and I am most grateful to have had even the shortest of time with you. When I can dill pickles next summer, I'll remember your tips and tricks and wish you were here to show me just how its supposed to be done.

Thank you beloved. We are all exactly where we need to be, even when we may wish otherwise. He has always been my favorite Uncle and has been a gift to know. BTW, I know where my crazy eyebrows came from without a doubt. :groucho: I will wear my third generation ( Grandpa,Uncle Doug, Me) overalls with even more pride.
