Growing up in Tacoma washington where there is a Army and Airforce base,it wasnt unusual to see a couple of military police in full uniform walk in the gay bars on a fri or sat nite lokking for off duty enlisted men/women.

Many times they would crawl under the table as we all used what ever we could to hide/shield them.

I remember when we only had to wait about 2 and a half months for our favorite TV programs to return! The season ended a few weeks into June and returned in early September (usually right after Labor Day)!

The way programs are scheduled now by they show up again, I've forgotten half the story lines!

I thought it was just me! I am so confused. I haven’t really watched much TV in years and now by February they are all played out!

I remember when flying was an enjoyable experience unlike these days where you have a seat the size of a postage stamp to plunk your ass on, nada leg room, zero elbow room, being jammed in like sardines in a tin can, plus being nickled and dimed to death!:seeingstars:

No kidding, I hate flying! It's so claustrophobic being squeezed in that tiny space! And I always feel sorry for the flight crew because they have to deal with cranky, stressed people and it's not their fault the airlines make people so cranky and stressed!

I remember when the airlines treated you royally and not like a friggin cash register!

$$$ to check a bag, $$$ for a snack, $$$ for requesting the bulkhead seat, the list goes on and on....

Esme nha Maire 08-27-2018 10:40 PM

I remember when you could buy a type of ice-cream-on-a-stick called "Strawberry cream Woppas". Those things were ice-cream perfection to me, and I can still remember the taste to this day. Then one year, all of a sudden - nothing. They'd simply stopped making them. I cried. I can't remember the name of the company that made them, and can't even find any hint of their existence on the internet. But I remember the taste, and how the one thing I looked forward to in summer when I was a child of a certain age, was buying strawberry cream Woppas with my pocket-money.

I remember when making an reservation involved only one simple phone call to the airline (or airlines) that flew to your destination INSTEAD of now having to scan site after site after site..........

I remember when Doctors made house calls.....

cathexis 10-28-2018 01:55 AM

I remember when the cure for most ailments was a shot in the ass and maybe a short course of antibiotics, not some major ordeal.

cathexis 10-28-2018 02:44 AM

This will be PI, but here it is anyway. "Drugs" were just something your mom didn't want you to take like weed, mushrooms, or acid NOT that what could truly be lethal like "H", white, krocodill, Fentanyl (at unknown dosages).

My mom would turn over in her grave to learn what some folks were using in the name of "drugs."

I remember when families still sat at the kitchen table for meals without being glued to electronics (and my house still does this)...

I remember a time there were no "latch key" kids..

I remember when going out to eat or just stopping by a drive-in for hamburger was a real treat NOT an everyday occurrence!

Yes but mom usually stayed home and prepared meals back then.

I like going out for a meal because I enjoy time out with someone but it because a convenience thing.

Yup, moms more often than not shopped for the food and cooked the food indeed!

Maybe she got a break on Mother's Day and her birthday, but otherwise she did it 363 days a year!

These days Mary and I are more often to grab something on the run or run out and get either Thai or whatever than cook...

IMHO it's not the cooking that is a pain so much as is the time it takes to shop and then the clean up mess afterwards........

I remember when the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade was JUST a parade and it didn't get interrupted every couple of minutes with singers and dancers.......

I remember when the lights on the Christmas tree were a fire hazard.

They sure were pretty, though . . .
