"A well-informed mind is the best security against the contagion of folly and of vice. The vacant mind is ever on the watch for relief, and ready to plunge into error, to escape from the languor of idleness." - Ann Radcliffe, The Mysteries of Udolpho, 1764 |
"The number of books will grow continually, and one can predict that a time will come when it will be almost as difficult to learn anything from books as from the direct study of the whole universe. It will be almost as convenient to search for some bit of truth concealed in nature as it will be to find it hidden away in an immense multitude of bound volumes." - Denis Diderot |
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." ~ MLK Jr ~ |
Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give. ~~ Eleanor Roosevelt
There is no beautifier of complexion, or form, or behavior, like the wish to scatter joy and not pain around us. 'Tis good to give a stranger a meal, or a night's lodging. 'Tis better to be hospitable to his good meaning and thought, and give courage to a companion. We must be as courteous to a man as we are to a picture, which we are willing to give the advantage of a good light. ~~Ralph Waldo Emerson |
A year from now you may wish you had started today. ~ Dr. Robert Schuller

Make love to me in Spanish.
Not with that other tongue. I want you juntito a mí, tender like the language crooned to babies. I want to be that lullabied, mi bien querido, that loved. I want you inside the mouth of my heart, inside the harp of my wrists, the sweet meat of the mango, in the gold that dangles from my ears and neck. Say my name. Say it. The way it's supposed to be said. I want to know that I knew you even before I knew you. --Sandra Cisneros |
If you want to be happy for a year, plant a garden; If you want to be happy for life, plant a tree. - English Proverb

"If you can’t smell the fragrance
Don’t come into the garden of Love. If you’re unwilling to undress Don’t enter into the stream of Truth. Stay where you are. Don’t come our way".~Rumi |
From the mouth of babes....
My daughter is sick as a dog right now and I asked her if her body ached and if she needed some Tylenol for the aches and pains and her response was, "I feel so sick right now, my body aches so bad, that even my immune system hurts" LOL. (I think its one of those, "Ya had to be there" lines, but it cracked me up when she said it.) I think Im gonna use that quote from now on when Im sick.

Friedrich Nietzsche |
Understand that the right to choose your own path is a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possibility.
~Oprah Winfrey |

"Minds are like parachutes--they only function when open." -Thomas Dewar |
"Hold up to him his better self, his real self that can dare and do and win out . . . People radiate what is in their minds and in their hearts." - Eleanor H. Porter |
"A chief event of life is the day in which we have encountered a mind that startled us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson |
They say that every snowflake is different. If that were true, how could the world go on? How could we ever get up off our knees? How could we ever recover from the wonder of it? ~ Jeanette Winterson

"Fortunate are the people whose roots are deep."
-Agnes Meyer When trees have deep roots they don't fall over as easily. It works the same with people. Our roots help to support us, and to keep us strong when the wind blows hard. Our roots can nourish us. It's up to us to grow these roots for ourselves - with our friends, our family, our community and our memories. -Lissa Coffey Thanks for being part of my memories (good, bad and otherwise) to everyone here on the Planet. And, yes, I mean all y'all. :shocking: |
