I answered you in the other thread as well.

I accidentally turned off everyones viewing access for that forum when I was in the back in a bit ago. You should be seeing it now.

Okay. I have an edit button when I post this post, but when I posted in the 9Words thread and my own writing thread, and I'm within the 30 minute mark, there is no edit button.

Help?

:seeingstars:

Linus 12-04-2011 09:08 AM

Fixed. I also enabled the ability to delete posts for users like we do in other forums.

Hi Kids....

I'm having trouble logging into BF... I sometimes have to log in up to 4 times before I can get in.. and I figured out "sometimes" I have been signed in (for how long I'm unsure) if I click on the home page then it shows that I'm signed in. Any ideas??

I use Foxfire and I have a new laptop. I still have things I'm getting use to.

Easy fix: When this happens to me, I simply type in my password, and as I hit the ENTER button, I jump up, run around in three circles while screaming "Come ONNNNN BFP!!", then I hop 3 times, grab my crotch like MJ, sit down, and hit the logo at the top of the page and WAH-LA, I have action at my fingertips! :winky:

(works every time!)

It has been like this for me since the site opened. Figure it is me.

This is a cookie session issue.

When you log in and click "remember me" on the password login, immediately click the black logo at the top of the page and it will store your cookie session indefinitely.

:)

Medusa 12-28-2011 07:56 AM

I just did some tweaking on our cookie session settings. Let's see if this helps the issue at all.

Just wanted you to know that ever since you did the tweaking I have gotten several database errors. They go away once I refresh.

Medusa 12-28-2011 10:20 AM

I've been doing some other work back there and was doing a backup - Let me know if this continues to happen!

It seems to work now... Thank you for the quick response!!

Kelt 12-28-2011 06:56 PM

Probably unrelated to above but I was looking for a place to put this:

When I get a PM it sends a notice through my gmail account. Has and still does work great. I thought you should know that a few days ago they have started red flagging these email notices as possible phish. They are working just fine, just has the big red banner.

Medusa 12-28-2011 06:59 PM

Thanks for the head's up, Kelt! I have gmail and mine don't get flagged so I'll do some research to see what the parameters are that might cause it...

Actually, I can attest to getting the same as Kelt. It likely means that perhaps someone has thought that it was a phish or something.

If we rename our emails "Get bigger penis today!", I bet it will get through. :| LOLOL!

Logging off issues...

Did a search for 'technical support', but couldn't find one, so I hope it's ok to post this question on here.

I keep logging off, but each time I come back to sign in, I still appear as if I never logged off. Any advice?

Linus 01-08-2012 10:52 AM

Try clearing out your cookies and make sure you don't check the "Keep me logged in" box.

I'm sure the answer to my question is here somewhere, but please cut a tired girl some slack. ;)

When it says "timed out" under a users name, what exactly does this mean? Can the member still log in and read? Did they break a rule and have to sit in the naughty corner? For how long?

Thanks in advance!

Timed-out means they cannot access the site. They cannot log in although they could anonymously read whatever any guest could.

Time outs are usually for one of two things: spammers (i.e., specific kinds of trolls that just post to get traffic to their website for the purpose of selling a product) or they violated the Terms of Service (TOS). How long is dependent on whether it's a first offense, how many times previous they've been timed out and/or warned and their response to a moderator or admin. (e.g., telling the mod that they should "fuck off and die" usually isn't a good idea  )

How big was the image?

WingsOnFire 04-04-2012 11:37 AM

I dont know where this might be appropriate to ask.. but I am going to buy a membership next month.. and wondered if there is a level of membership that gives you more access to your Reps? Sometimes I miss them before I even get a chance to read them if I am repped a lot.

Thanks in advance!

No, not at this time. All levels all have the same access to reps.

Odd. I could add a jpg without issue. Can you try a different image?

I reduced it down to 58KB and got it to go. Oh well...

Thanks anyway! :D

Maybe its just me... but does anyone else have trouble when they click on the color they want and it posts the RGB code instead of the word? When it does this it doest post correctly... instead of just reading the code and coloring correctly it does this:

[COLOR="rgb(139, 0, 0)"]... and whatever I was typing...

It doesnt happen all the time.. and I can rekey it and it posts fine the next time..just very frustrating.. especially when posting something you cant edit.. like a user note...

I just experimented with this and cannot seem to cause it to happen (I will admit to not using colours that often when posting so perhaps it requires a more constant use for it to appear?). What browser are you using (Firefox, IE, Safari), out of curiousity?

Google Chrome.. I had clicked on the drop down for the color the first time... then I clicked on the colored line the second time and thats when it put in the rgb color code.. weird.. I do use colors constantly lol..

Two issues...

Gallery...

For the past two days, I have been attempting to upload a few new photos from my hikes. I'm not doing anything differently, my photos are the right size and file type, and my membership says unlimited for photos. Each time I try to upload, it says "preparing to process image list" (I'm only uploading one photo at a time), and then it says "Upload successful". Yet, my photo is not in the gallery. Hmmm....

IPhone...

I log out of BFP on my home computer, and my IPhone (which is utilizing my home wifi) keeps me logged in. When I try to log out, or simply close the browser on the IPhone that is displaying BFP, it locks up my browser to the point that I have to reboot my phone. Anyone else having this issue and know a workaround?

Thank you in advance :)
