Last 10 days..easily 8.5 to 9+ hours.

Less stress! I've had the best sleep in a long time.

Dark cold room, contoured pillow and quiet. If I find myself overthinking, I'll put the timer on some soft music. That can have me relaxed before the first song is over! If I feel restless, a hot shower calms me.

And by all means..NO Caffine after 4pm.

C0LLETTE 10-10-2020 05:23 PM

Was doing fine till that damned donkey started braying at 2am. Not sure if this is going to work out.

FireSignFemme 10-10-2020 05:47 PM

Off and on Monte kept waking me up to play. Between that and bathroom breaks just four.

C0LLETTE 10-10-2020 05:49 PM

I empathize, my little Pedro does the same.

Orema 12-15-2020 05:33 AM

Six hours last night.

Still taking 10 mg of melatonin to help me sleep on some nights. Natrol Melatonin brand seems to work well for me.

Thanks for sharing this, Orema. I have been wanting to try melatonin, but I've heard it makes you groggy in the morning. Could you share your experience?

You’re welcome. This brand doesn’t leave me groggy in the morning. I mention the brand because a different brand didn’t work at all.

Before the melatonin I was taking a prescription sleeping aid, Ambien, along with cannabis edibles to help me sleep. So my body is accustomed to sleep aids. Also, I tend to wake up early and stay in bed for a couple hours reading the news before getting up. But once I’m up, I’m in action and am ready to exercise and start my day.

I suggest you try it and see how it affects you. I’d start with a small dosage (3 mg?) to see how it works.

Good luck and let us know if you try it out.

Kelt 12-15-2020 07:45 PM

I will chime in and say that I use the same dose of the same brand and it works well for me too.

Sleep...

I slept 4 hours, which has been normal for me lately. I hope to get back to 8 hours again but that may not happen for at least another 3 weeks.

GeorgiaMa'am 12-18-2020 01:22 AM

I am clearly not getting a full 8 hours tonight, since I am here on the Planet.

theoddz 12-18-2020 07:57 PM

Now that we have one of these Sleep Number 360 degree “smart” beds, Dear Wife and I sleep soooooo much better!!! According to the bed’s app, we both get an average of about 8 to 9 hours or better each night.

These beds are amazing and Dear Wife and I heartily recommend them to anyone who is looking for an excellent’s night sleep.

I hadn't heard of this! I'm going to talk this over, sounds pretty cool but also weird to think my bed could be monitoring my sleep. But my watch does now so...

I've been sleeping so much better with a medication that tames my nightmares. It's shifted me from sleeping 4-5 hours with frequent wake ups and anxiety to often 7-9 hours with minimal waking and often no anxiety.

It's pretty life changing.

Gemme 12-19-2020 09:57 PM

I've shorted myself the past few nights but will get a full night's sleep tonight since I can wake up later tomorrow.

Orema 12-20-2020 09:46 AM

Three, if that. Am dragin' a bit this morning, but I'll play catch up later today.

GeorgiaMa'am 12-20-2020 11:25 AM

About twelve. I feel great!

Orema 12-23-2020 05:15 AM

7 hours.

Am testing the SnoreLab snoring app. Snored lightly for 16% of the time last night though I had an epic snore for 2 seconds! LOL

It’s pretty cool. Think I’ll keep it and use the free version.

GeorgiaMa'am 12-24-2020 11:57 PM

Not many, for the last several nights. My CPAP broke. It sounds like a jet engine when it's on. I'm pretty sure it's the bearings in the motor.

It will be January before I can even go to the doctor's appointment to get an appointment in the sleep lab. I have to do this to get a new prescription. Nobody will use my old prescription (admittedly, 11 years old) to get me a new CPAP.

There are people who repair CPAPs. However, they all sound very doubtful on the phone: "Oh, it's in the motor? We probably can't fix that." "Oh, it's too old. We can't work on that."

I can barely sleep without the thing. I snore so deeply that I wake myself up choking. What do people do who run into this problem? Yes, CPAPs last a long time, typically about 10 years, but they do break. You can't buy one on eBay because it's medical equipment and that's illegal. I might be insane from lack of sleep if I have to wait until late January to get a new one. Maybe there's someone in another city who I can ship mine to to get worked on.

GeorgiaMa'am 12-25-2020 03:44 AM

Is anyone else waiting up to catch a glimpse of Santa?

I still couldn't sleep so I watched _It's a Wonderful Life_. It's one of my Top 10 faves.

nhplowboi 12-25-2020 05:15 AM

I was doing great until 4AM this morning when I got up for a bathroom break. I put on the news to make sure the Donald did not have troops in the streets and am now hoping I can grab a hour before I really need to be up.

Stone-Butch 12-25-2020 06:06 AM

Hours of sleep

none so far.

Gemme 12-25-2020 02:52 PM

A solid 7, then a bathroom run and a quick check of storm damage and then back down for about an hour and a half. It was the BEST!

Orema 12-30-2020 05:49 AM

Seven. Woke up a few times but was able to go back asleep.

GeorgiaMa'am 12-31-2020 02:09 AM

Yet to be determined. At least one.

Orema 01-08-2021 05:35 AM

Five restless hours. Maybe I’ll catch another hour this morning.

FireSignFemme 01-08-2021 08:53 AM

None last night, none so far this morning. Computer gliche - working well for a change so not too bad. Going to just run with it as long as I can, make the best of it until exhaustion takes over, there are worse ways to suffer.

GeorgiaMa'am 01-08-2021 10:26 AM

Ten good hours. But only because I got up early, had breakfast, and then went back to bed for five.

easygoingfemme 01-09-2021 11:07 AM

I slept in a split shift last night. Slept from 10-1:00 and then was up reading from 1-3 and then back to sleep until 6. I'm glad it wasn't a work night.

I do this far too often. I'm guilty of checking my email and the news in the middle of the night. I even fall asleep with my headphones on, tuned in to the overnight news. I've got to stop doing this.

Even so, I got about six solid hours last night.

Orema 01-10-2021 06:52 AM

Six hours after taking melatonin.

Stone-Butch 01-10-2021 09:36 AM

Hours of sleep

5 days now, NO night sleep. Afternoon nap for 2-3 hrs. Tired all the time.

Gemme 01-10-2021 09:44 PM

I got around 8 hours, thank goodness. It's been about a week of shorting myself so I desperately needed a full night's sleep. Hopefully, it won't be another week before it happens again.

Gemme 01-18-2021 07:28 PM

Last night was close to 7 hours of sleep, which is the most I've had all week. I slept very hard and struggled waking so I'm hoping tonight is better.

Orema 01-21-2021 12:59 PM

Last night was 6 hours.

GeorgiaMa'am 01-21-2021 08:20 PM

Last night I had 9.5 mostly good hours. But I woke up to a vivid dream that was turning into a nightmare, so that was a bummer and it left me out of sorts for part of the day. Now that I'm headed to bed again tonight, it's coming back to me :( Hopefully it won't resume. They usually don't.

FireSignFemme 01-21-2021 08:59 PM

Just a little short of eight.

Vincent 01-22-2021 09:55 AM

been averaging 3 for about a week
Scout is waking me scared of the storms during the night,it's ok for her, after her walk at 1.30 AM she sleeps all day.
Oh well, she is heading to 11 now so a senior dog
I now understand the term
I'm dog tired

Orema 02-03-2021 08:34 AM

6 hours. Woke up midway and read the news for awhile then back to sleep.

GeorgiaMa'am 02-03-2021 08:47 AM

Only about 7 hours. I went to bed early, but woke up in the middle of the night and watched TikTok for hours. I didn't go back to sleep until I got a TikTok reminder to do so. (Yes, they have reminders - I haven't figured out if it's random, or attached to a certain time, or after you've been logged in for a certain amount of time. The "PSA" comes on and reminds you that, although you're certainly enjoying TikTok, you should do yourself a favor and get some sleep.)

clay 02-03-2021 09:26 PM

usually 8 to 10. Since I have been with my honey, and when she is here, OR I am there, we sleep so sweetly!

My smart watch records my times of deep, light, and awake times. I am now sleeping 3 hrs or so in deep sleep, which I didn't use to do.

GeorgiaMa'am 02-21-2021 01:03 AM

It's 2 a.m., and if I can't get back to sleep it's going to be 1-1/2 hours for the night. I finally decided to quit tossing and turning and get up for awhile and see if that helps. Right now I'm having a Pop Tart, and then I'm going to re-make up my bed, to see if that helps. I also took an extra half of a sleeping pill. (Perfectly allowed, my prescription says I can do so as needed.)
