Re-watching Lost on Hulu. It's just as good as the first time, maybe even better as there is always so much going on during any one episode that you can't help but miss something here and there. I didn't see it when it aired on the network all those years ago, I binge watched it the first time last year. I can't imagine having to wait an entire week just to see an hour and have that stretched out for six years. That's just crazy.

Is there going to be a season 2? The place they left it at seemed like a good 'ending' to me. I wonder where they would take it from there.

The Shadow Line

https://i.postimg.cc/BQmWj6K1/MV5-BM...jpg-UX1000.jpg

A British TV show (7 episodes) I found on Pluto and have been watching on Hoopla.

A mystery about two police offices who are shot while on duty.

Lots of subtle racial triggers, but I still found it worthwhile because of the excellent acting by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Christopher Eccleston, Lesley Sharp and Stephen Rea.

As it looks right now, no there won't be at that...:|

I Killed My BFF – True crime, but I seriously doubt they were ever anybodies best friend if they could be that psycopathic, sociopathic or whatever the hell it's called these days.

VintageFemme 03-01-2021 11:40 AM

I've been watching The Luminaries on Starz. I love the storyline with all the mysticism but the filming is just crazy beautiful. I would watch it alone just for that.

An intricately woven, suspenseful tale of love, murder, magic and revenge set in New Zealand at the height of the 1860s gold rush, based on the Man Booker prize-winning novel.

I think it's supposed to be heartwarming, but they haven't roped me in yet. (See what I did there? :| ) I haven't decided if I will stick with it or not. I decided to give it a chance because it's got 13 seasons - somebody must like it a lot, right?

I'm still watching Heartland, not because it's a great show or anything, but mainly because it is like watching the same thing over and over. I suppose it's a fine show if you're sick and too tired to look for something else to watch and just need something on in the background. I have lots of seasons left so I won't have to think about what to watch for a long time. If I fall asleep and miss something, it's not a big deal. It is kind of interesting in that it's about life on a horse ranch out West, and that's not something I know a whole lot about. I don't think I would recommend it though, unless you're a horse person or a lite-on-the-drama soap opera person.

Netflix, it's a three part miniseries, basically follows families as they go about their day to day while living according to their dictates of their religion.

Gemme 04-03-2021 08:15 PM

I just finished a doc series called Worn Stories on Netflix. It was really good! I love that they start with the nudists.

firecat242 04-29-2021 05:52 AM

Working my way through The Sinner....on Netflix.
Does not disappoint!!

GeorgiaMa'am 04-29-2021 08:22 PM

I watched this year's big Academy Award winner, Nomadland on Hulu. It was just as good as the book, although they did skim over some parts. It's about a 60-ish woman whose husband dies, and she subsequently becomes homeless. (Or as the character in the movie says, she's without a house but she's not homeless.) She fixes up her van and travels around the western U.S., working for Amazon and Wall Drugs and other places, attending rallies with other van dwellers, and making friends on the road.

While I was on Hulu, I noticed a couple of interesting things: Killing Eve has a third season, and The Handmaid's Tale is airing new episodes, one every week.

Gemme 04-29-2021 08:57 PM

I finished a series called Dating Around on Netflix. I liked it. The Circle also has new episodes so I'll be finished with that tomorrow most likely.

Orema 05-01-2021 12:18 AM

Watched The Children Act on Kanopy.com with Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci, and Fionn Whitehead. Enjoyed it. Had some interesting storylines and the acting was good.

Here’s a clip of some of the actors discussing the film.

They are withholding the finale. Jerks!!!

Orema 05-02-2021 05:48 AM

Watched S1E1 of Pose on Netflix and enjoyed it a lot. It's about mostly Black (Trans) women and gay men in NYC taking care of each other while living on the edges of society. Looking forward to binge watching more episodes.

Orema 05-11-2021 05:28 AM

Watched a couple episodes of Buried by the Bernards on Netflix. Thought I might enjoy it but got bored real fast with the matriarch of the family. Sometimes a show needs a few episodes before it finds its groove. I’ll give it another shot, but will move on if they can’t find another storyline other than the bossy mama.

Gemme 05-13-2021 08:49 PM

I watched The Upshaws on Netflix. One season. I love Wanda Sykes and it was good to see Kim Fields again but I absolutely detested Mike Epps' character. I just wanted to backhand him any time he opened his mouth and that kind of ruined it for me. I do love me some Wanda, though, and she has creator credentials on this series so good for her.

I've since moved on to Hoarders and I feel muuuuch better about my clutter than I did before.

Gemme 05-16-2021 10:06 AM

I finished the season of Hoarders on Netflix. I actually had to stop eating while watching the one with Flora and all those roaches. I nearly retched. A couple of weeks ago, I burned through Cheer Squad which is about the Great White Sharks squad in Canada. My heart ached for them during the rough season.

Orema 05-31-2021 04:17 AM

Just watched The Dressmaker for the first time on Hoopla (through ROKU) and enjoyed it. Will watch it again.

Janis Joplin Doco released in 2015

Amazing how close and similar she was or actually the other way around, but to Amy Whinehouse, who also died at 27.
Both immensly talented strong women

But fucked up by societies expectations of women.

was great to hear Pink and Melissa and Grace Slick talk of Janis and her paving the way for women in rock

When I went to SF,I had my photo taken outside where she had lived.

I was 10 when she died
I remember just crying and crying

And yes I cried after the doco
It will always be sad and a great loss

I've seen that! It's good.

I finished the two seasons of Special on Netflix. It's clever, Jim Parsons produced it, there's a lot of adorable gay tushies in it and the episodes are short. Score!

Orema 06-01-2021 06:29 AM

Watched All of Me with Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin on Kanopy.com (by way of ROKU). I'm not a big fan of Martin's but he did some brilliant physical comedy that I had forgotten and it had me giggling seeing it again. Tomlin was good, as usual, but the story didn't hold up for me. Still, I enjoyed watching it again and remembering what I originally liked about the film.

Gemme 06-01-2021 06:43 PM

I'm watching The Kominsky Method now and it's fabulous.

Orema 06-05-2021 07:06 AM

Am watching High on the Hog on Netflix and it's really good.

Have also been binge watching Season 6 of Bosch on Prime and enjoyed the story lines. I think I missed a season or two. Will need to go back and check.

Gemme 06-07-2021 05:07 AM

I found a show on Netflix yesterday and wound up watching the whole season in one day. To be fair, there's only one season, the episodes are most around 40 minutes each and there's only a few of them.

BUT

It's really good. Whether by design or not, it's about a mysterious virus that affects the whole world and hybrid animal babies. The two come together, I promise, and it's really well done, I think. It's based on a comic and is produced by Robert Downey Jr., which I wasn't expecting. Learned that after I watched it. Ironman did good!

Beauty and the Baker - Israel

This is the original Baker/Beauty tv show from Israel. Just started watching it yesterday on Amazon Prime and I really like this version. It’s not as clean and wholesome as the one with Cubans in Florida. There’s something sweet about the Cuban version and something more realistic about the Israeli show. Am enjoying them both.

I was holding out for a good binge day
Well today, it was.

Season 4 of The Handmaid's Tale.
Just like always..sucked right back in.
