And thanks for asking about the Rooster Gail :) He feels totally normal and well again...and thanks to the lovely people on this site who gave me so many tips on helping him get the pills down, he no longer has any trouble swallowing them. The doctor's office called today with the test results and there's no doubt at all that it's positive for Lyme disease. Ugh. They do say that it appears we caught it early though, and the antibiotics should clear it up. He has to go back for a checkup once the antibiotics are gone to be sure, but it all looks good so far. :rrose: Miami was fun (although it's always fun to be with Scoote)...the water was so incredibly warm at the beach...and we spent the day at Jungle Island and got to be up close with beautiful parrots and the cutest little squirrel monkeys :) The only part that surprised me was how much garbage got dropped on the beach...truly disgusting. I guess folks there take the beach for granted...and there were juice boxes and beer cans and plain ol' trash all over the shoreline. Luckily they had people out picking it up in the morning, but I wonder how much washes out to sea first...and am surprised that so many people are too lazy to walk 15 or 20 feet to the many trash cans provided. It's a shame to ruin such a gorgeous beach! Driving around was fun...so many beautiful, funky buildings...and a beautiful scene everywhere you looked. Very nice! :) |

Good evening Kitcheneers and thank-you so much for all the tea :chaplin: I hope everyone has had a wonderful day with few stresses and strains.
Since it's evening I'd like to offer whoever would like one a drink. *sets out a crate of Bud and San Miguel along with a couple of bottles of Prosecco and a bottle of Patron with Maldon salt and several limes* :barmartini: ...You'll have to bring your own nibbles :groucho: My girl is still teaching; it's her long day when she pulls a 12hr day of teaching, marking and generally being very teacher-y until she gets home when she can be my li'l girl again. :waitinggirl: |
Incubus,Thanks for the drinks but for us east coasters its only 3:10 pm in the afternoon. I will have to wait till at least 5PM to start drinking!! And for the people on the West Coast it is only noon so they are having their lunch!! Too bad your girl is not home with you I know it must get lonely. Its lonely here and I'm with two dogs and cable tv but Ellen is on in less then an hour so it will be all good!! Setting out a little :chocolate: chocolate for those that need it.

Why are you lonely at home lipstixgal? Do you live alone or are you waiting on someone getting home? Tell me more about your pooches. Names, ages, sexes...you know the pet info drill :dog::dog::cheesy: 6pm is 'cocktail hour' in my house so I'll just leave the drinkies here so y'all can help yourselves when you get in from work, college or whatever else you do in the day because I'll be curled up in bed by that time. :beddybye: It's sure a long day for Mrs.Incubus but I'm happy to have the time just to footle around and be 'in my own head' with no disturbances. After doing all the chores that needed doing I've been nekkid in the sun and thoroughly enjoyed reading "The Whole Day Through" by Patrick Gale :tanning: Now it's waaaay past cocktail hour and I've had a solitary beer but have a good bottle of unoaked chardonnay chilling ready for Mrs.Incubus' arrival home. :toast: |

Here you go...chicken fricasse... Ingredients: 2 pounds chicken pieces (I usually like to use boneless, skinless breasts) 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 3/4 teaspoon pepper 3/4 teaspoon paprika 2 tablespoons all purpose flour 1-1/3 cup water 2/3 cup dry white wine 2 tablespoons butter 2/3 onion, chopped 1 1/3 cup fresh small mushrooms 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley 3/4 cup half and half Directions: Wash and dry the chicken pieces. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, nutmeg and paprika. Brown the chicken in hot oil over medium-high heat in a deep heavy pan (like a Dutch oven). Remove the chicken when well browned. Reduce heat to medium, add flour, and cook the flour until lightly browned, stirring constantly. Whisk in water and wine until smooth. Return the chicken to the Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to a low simmer. Cook 50 minutes. Remove chicken, keeping it warm, and reserve the broth (which can be strained to get out any pieces). Melt butter in Dutch oven, over medium high heat, add onion, cook until lightly browned. Add mushrooms, sage and parsley. Add broth, and chicken. Cook over medium heat, stirring until thoroughly heated. Most people like this over rice...but personally I make homemade mashed potatoes...smoooosh a deep well in the middle, and fill it with the fricasse. Mmmmm.....comfort food. :) :girleating: |

Seems I'll miss everyone again lipstixgal. It's 10pm here and I'm almost ready to curl up with my book (Patrick Gale - Notes from an exhibition) and a bag of crisps (potato chips). Now you'll have to tell me about biscuits. What I call a biscuit you call a cookie. So my biscuits really wouldn't go with chicken  (not to mention that I don't even eat cookies or anything with sugar) |

We have loads of different cookies, or rather biscuits here. Loads! Don't tell me no-one offered you a Hobnob? Or a Penguin? Or a Jaffa Cake? Or a ginger nut? I could go on and on. :D Noooo none of those Kettle crisps for me, far too crunchy. I like Seabrooks Plain or Salt and Vinegar crisps although I am currently addicted to one of their new flavours, Wasabi. http://www.seabrookcrisps.com/ *leaves a few bags of Seabrooks for the Kitcheneers to sample* ps. Ta ever so for the offer of chocolate but I'm sure someone else would appreciate it more, I don't eat chocolate! Yup I know I'm weird :winky: |

Mrs.Incubus is finally home from the awards ceremony so it's time for me to go and keep her company and hear all about her evening of fun. Have a lovely evening lipstixgal and all you other Kitcheneers too. :knighthorse: ps. lipstixgal, look up Tunnocks Teacakes :D |
Good evening everyone :)
I would do fried chicken and biscuits, but that would be a bit too much like the chicken fricasse of last night. Hmmmm....how about a nice roast? That will go with biscuits...especially with gravy made from the pan drippings to sop up. And, of course, a nice fresh green salad...gotta get those greens! Dessert is gonna' be hot fudge sundaes...just because I'm craving one! :girleating: I make an awesome hot fudge sauce...real whipped cream...toasted peanuts...maraschino cherries :) Quote:
Biscuits are easy. There are lots of different variations, but here's a basic recipe: Stir together 2 cups flour, 3 tsp. baking powder, and 1 tsp. salt. You want to make sure the salt and baking powder are thoroughly mixed in now, cuz you won't stir much later. Cut in 6 Tbsp. shortening with a fork or pastry cutter. I use butter-flavored Crisco or regular butter. Cut it in enough to look like fine crumbs. Stir in 2/3 cup milk. Don't overstir...just enough to moisten the mixture completely. Turn out onto a floured board and knead lightly for a minute. Over-kneading will make the biscuits tough. You can roll these out and cut with biscuit cutter (or the mouth of a water glass) if you want round biscuits...or pat into a rectangle and cut into 10 or 12 squares. Put on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees F for 10 - 12 minutes until golden brown. If you want to try some variations, you can stir in about 1/2 cup of cooked, crisp, crumbled bacon.....or 1/2 grated cheddar cheese.....or 2 tsp. of dry herbs of your choice....or 1/4 tsp. curry powder....or some combination of the above. Be aware....if you use buttermilk instead of sweet milk, you need to decrease leavening to 2 tsp. baking powder and add 1/4 tsp. baking soda. Enjoy! :) |

Good morning Kitcheneers, it's 10.35am here which I guess means most of you lot aren't awake yet. Well maybe the early risers in the east are. I was planning on laying abed listening to the radio and reading this morning but the delectable Mrs.Incubus is having her gorgeous long curls chopped off this afternoon and I wanted to say goodbye to them before she set off for the last day of term and a marking frenzy. So here I am. Anyone up early want some tea? I have a large pot of Assam this morning? No food yet, I have to have at least two 'buckets' of tea before even contemplating food. |
Good Morning Incubus,
Can I have a cup of English Breakfast tea? I need it after walking three different malls yesterday and walking almost 6 hours...My legs still hurt... ChrisButch lives in Ireland, and I am used to the five hour difference, when I chat with hym, it is about this time in the morning. Hope you are having a good start to your weekend, Zimmy Quote:

Good Morning Everyone,
Thank you Incubus for the tea this morning...I am thinking of eggs, Canadian Bacon, crispy hashbrowns, toast, coffee, soda's, milk and juice for breakfast this morning.... My niece loved her Hello Kitty doll, and she had to play with it on the way home yesterday. My arm is sore from where my nephew kept frogging it while playing punch buggy...I am taking them back to my mom's house this morning and I loved having them here...I was craving Godiva yesterday while walking around the last mall, and went to the Godiva store there, only to notice that it had been closed...So I had a Mocha Light Frappuccino from Starbucks instead to calm down my chocolate craving...I will tell you all, that even though that drink is sugar free, it is good and it only has 140 calories in it. Hope everyone had fun lastnight and are having a good start to their weekend...I am off to run away and drink massive amounts of coffee before the kids wake up... See you all in a bit, Zimmy |

6hrs of malls? Crumbs! were you shopping for that long? Or are you a security person :giggle: Ahaaaaa morning for you, lunchtime for us. I will get used to the time (twilight) zones. :cheesy: M'kay, so I've had the requisite vat of tea before I can even contemplate eating, now what to have? :deepthoughts: |

Good Morning Incubus,
Thank you for the tea... I was shopping and walking around three different malls with two teenagers and a nine year old. I promised my nine year old niece a Hello Kitty doll for her birthday and I took her to Orlando, FL to get the doll...Her 13 year old brother and his friend, decided to come with us two...Atleast my niece and nephew didn't pick on each other for the hour and a half drive... Have fun today, Zimmy Quote:
