Football relationship rivalries?

Are there any couples that root for different teams?

Can you be in a relationship with someone who Doesnt like your team?

Do you ever question your sweeties sanity for who they root for? *coughs*wholikesthegiantsanyway*coughs* :) Kidding!

Playful betting perhaps? Game day traditions ? Do you sit on opposing couches glaring at each other?

My ex is a huge Dolphin fan. Since I never really was rabid over any pro teams, just my Nebraska Cornhuskers, I would follow any pro team that had former NE players. One of the players that used to be at Miami coached at the high school my ex worked at. He had also happened to be on the Miami Hurricane team that beat NE in the Championship game. And of course, he played a starring role in the last play of the game. Of course.

So she had several pics of this guy up al over the family room's walls, along with autographed footballs. She would point this fact out everytime we had people over to watch football. Of course.

The way I looked at it was that I always have been a Cornhusker fan, and always will, No matter who is around me, no matter how much dissing on either side might be happening.

Main thing is I love football, no matter WHO is playing!

Im facing this predicament now myself.....My guy is a Falcons fan....forgive him Lord.....etc..... All I can say...is come game day... I will be wearing my best jersey....and I will root for my boys come hell or high water! And....if nothing else...take out any game day aggressions at half-time ;) It IS only a game after all....ahem....

Quick PS.... I DID try to find a happy accord in our rivalry by getting the Falcons QB on my fantasy footbool team...but alas it wasnt to be....I have big Ben from the Steelers instead :) So i hope he has a STELLAR YEAR! GO PATS!!

I'm not too much into pro ball, although i watch it! Cause it's FOOTBALL!! College ball is my passion!!...Especially U of M! Of course it COULD have something with the fact that was born and raised here in Ann Arbor.

'How many days before U of M's first game this season' you wonder? Well, I'll tell ya....26!! Can you STAND it?

On the FLIP side of all this inner happiness, football Saturdays are the WORST at work! I work in the ER at U of M hospital. OMG!! It's ambulance after ambulance of drunken students. Most of them come into the ER with a red garbage back tied around their necks. The medics on the ambulances do that so that these kids, 99.7% are passed out COLD, can puke in something other than the floor of their rig! The other .3% are usually crying girls, makeup smeared everywhere, trying to get a signal on her cell while all her little friends that are gathered around her, text or call all of their bff's to tell them what's going on. Dear GOD!! Literally, less than 20 mins later, that same rig pulls in with another drunk student and so on, and so on, and so on.....The worst are the day we play either OSU or MSU. You'd just have to be there to believe it! LoL!!

For the situations where a partner or a potential partner likes a team that makes NO sense, like the Steelers, I foresee several ways to use this to your advantage...

Strip football...
Mandatory backrubs for every touchdown scored...
Hitting the sack every time the quarterback is sacked...
A bar of dark chocolate penalty for every loss...
The person who's team loses that weekend has to cook or pick up dinner...

Take it where you will.

Scuba 08-06-2012 06:59 PM

I'd be playing by myself...not much fun in that!! **laughing**

GO VIKINGS!!!

girl_dee 08-06-2012 07:00 PM

Mandatory backrubs for every touchdown scored..... Steeler fans be prepared to stay relaxed inbetween touchdowns !!

Hitting the sack every time the quarterback is sacked.....although last year was an unusual year for sacks with the Steelers .............Steeler fans will be lacking sexually during games this year !!

A bar of dark chocolate penalty for every loss...Steeler fans........in Pennsylvania we have this chocolate company called ...ummm... Hersheys !! great way to rack up wins and build sales for Pennsylvania !!

The person who's team loses that weekend has to cook or pick up dinner..... Steeler fans........pierogi night ... weekly !!

Midnight 08-06-2012 08:33 PM

Can not wait for the NFL!! Mrs is a Seahawks fan .... I go for the Vikings. Hopefully they will broadcast more of the games in Australia this year. Heading to the gridiron (American football) final VicBowl XXVIII to support our local teams here. Its great to see the action 'live'.

What is fantasy football? I hear about it every year but have never really explored it.

ruffryder 08-15-2012 02:38 PM

Arwen you pick players that you want for your team, all positions and some extras for the bench with a real draft if your league wants. Then you pick who will play on your team each week. However the player does in the real NFL game you are awarded points for your team if you have that player. You are head to head with another team. Whoever has the best players that week or most points wins the game for the week.

I'm still looking for players if you would like to join or anyone else, just message me your email for a link to get in. It doesn't take up much of your time, just the draft if you want to be active in that or you can choose not to and just set your preferences for your players. Then each week or you choose who will play for you based on your players. You can set up each week in advance. There is also no charge to play, just fun and games and a lil trash talkin! :)

Leigh 08-18-2012 04:15 PM

Dang Jacksonville beat my Saints! That's fine, the Giants will crush the Jets tonight :p

stephfromMIT 08-18-2012 04:19 PM

I'm a Patriots fan first, Steelers fan second. (Home team, team I followed during college, respectively)

Leigh 08-18-2012 04:54 PM

I have certain favorites ~ Patriots, Steelers, Raiders, Cowboys, Saints, 49ers & my Seahawks :)

Leigh 08-18-2012 09:05 PM

Woohoo Giants win! I knew they would :D

:p

alexri 08-19-2012 01:49 AM

Yay NYG!

So happy the Giants were able to show the Jets just how many holes they have in their offense/defense

At the end we could have just played the janitors if we wanted to

I can't stand Rex Ryan. He need to stop being a braggart. Year after year he talks big and then falls on his face. I loved it last year when he said he was NY's team, and then we won the game, Jets didn't even make the playoffs and we have our shiny new Lobardi trophy.

UofMfan 08-19-2012 09:22 AM

Although both of my teams, pro and college, will probably suck this year (again), yes I am ready for some football!

:football:

NorCalStud 08-19-2012 09:45 AM

no! Honestly

Im not ready for football. It never ends. My whole life I hear football football football and there never is an end...so okay now Ive outed myself in this huddle....hey I can get behind it if I drink alot of beer...Ill be be jumpin up and cheerin . Carry on.
