me: I'm cooking eggs to order. what do you like?
kid: I like omlets but.......
me: okay, not a problem
kid: omg you will fix me an omlet? I haven't had someone fix those for me except in a restaurant... and that has only been a couple of times. thank you thank you thank you!

Little things that make these kids feel worthy of who they are and what they like is all I need to brighten my day on the job. so blessed to be able to give them the little things every now and then :)

I absolutely love this! Building resiliency by building relationships. Thank you for making that kid feel worthy...

What made me smile today was seeing all the Birthday wishes on my Facebook from my friends and family*S* Was nice to see....

A very close friend of mine moved from NY to Indiana earlier this year. She is really tight with my daughter, they have this bond I can't describe. They are almost 800 miles apart now and still email each other regularly. I love moments like today when my daughter comes down and tells me about this stream of conversation that they've been having literally for days, and I had no idea they were even talking this week.
When they lived here, My daughter and my friend would sit together knitting , discussing books, effective pioneering techniques for modern day living, and how to properly interact with fairies. No matter that at the time one was 11 years old and the other was 40.
Their ongoing connection regardless of the miles between makes me smile.

Also loving that the same friend as referenced above is now distracting herself from her NANOWRIMO project by sending me emails calling me ridiculous names. Because that's a game we play, who can come up with the most idiotic name for the other. But I'm not letting her play because she's supposed to be writing a novel. Which is what I'm supposed to be doing now. 'bye.

Our youngest daughter getting a clean bill of health & getting rid of the neck brace at the ortho, after hers and her brother's scary car accident last week!

Driving from Summerland to Penticton to Osoyoos to Keremeos to Hedley and back to Penticton and then home to Summerland in a big circle. Beautiful views. I am loving my new home.

The weather was a absolutely gorgeous, only needed a jacket when we got back to town.

We explored quaint old towns, veggie markets, wineries, craft sales, lakes, small stores and so much more. I wish I had brought my big camera.

And who knew I am now only an hour from the American border. I thought I was further North then that. Next time I will bring my passport for my outings.

It was a great day of exploring.

My rescues, especially the one that always plops over and rolls around in front of me when I'm sitting at my desk.

I smile at the Universe for allowing me to wake every morning with good thoughts of a beautiful day to come.

The trailer park kitties that I feed every morning and the one that now meets me on the porch steps as I'm opening my door to leave for work at 5:30am.

The simple things in life make me smile.

Lastly, today is Football Sunday and I'm able to watch whatever teams my local stations are showing....yay!!!!

With all that said......BIG smile today on me :)

Finally getting our power back on after six days of darkness.

I smiled, woohooed, jumped up and down for joy and cried a little.

VintageFemme 11-04-2012 11:09 AM

Getting an 'extra' hour today!
I never set my clocks back the night before in the Fall. I always always save it for the day 'of' so that when I decide I need a little extra time whether it's in the morning or one more hour before bedtime, I can give it to myself. I know it's a mind game but it works and I love it.
