What gives me peace
I am a very emotional guy. When I was younger, I was forced to be un-emotional. It is like being stompped on by a full grown elephant.
I have learned to step back, and refocus my energy on something other than who or what is bothering me. This is what I do: *Garden *Mow the lawn *Smoke a cigar or two or three if need be :cigar: *Pray *Mediatate *Listen to music :listening: *Chant *Sing :rainsing: *Walk with Dino :dogwalking: *Do a Word Search *Watch ESPN :basketball::cheerleader: *Talk to my friends *Play Golf :putting: *Go Fishing |

When I'm stressed, it's often in relation to some kind of argument or misunderstanding. So, good, productive communication brings me peace.
Also... Knowing that my kids are OK. The scents and sounds of nature, especially the woods or the ocean. Paying my bills. Reading a good book. A day trip. |
Today This Gave Me Peace & A Huge Smile
Arlington Cemetary was decorated with wreaths today. I think it was something like 1500 and all the wreaths were donated along with small American flags. :wwii-veterans::wreath::wreath::wreath::usa:

An Old Fable
A traveler was walking along a beach when he saw a woman scooping up starfish off the sand and tossing them into the waves. Curious, he asked her what she was doing. The woman replied, "When the tide goes out it leaves these starfish stranded on the beach. They will dry up and die before the tide comes back in, so I am throwing them back into the sea where they can live." The traveler then asked her, "But this beach is miles long and there are hundreds of stranded starfish, many will die before you reach them - do you really think throwing back a few starfish is really going to make a difference?" The woman picked up a starfish and looked at it, then she threw it into the waves. "It makes a difference to this one," she said. |

Silence Knowing a God does exist and that it is not our duty to save anyone's soul but our own. A good cigar helps. Fresh air too. :seesaw: |
What gives me peace
Everything that BornBronson said. :hangloose:
Plus this saying that was my Grandmother's. It is now hanging on my kitchen wall. It comes from the Bible I think. It reads "Christ is the head of this house, the unseen guest at every meal, the silent listener to every conversation." |
Hearing my wife's peaceful sleep
feeling Slick purr right next to my heart the love and support of our family sunshine on a gloomy day the rustle of leaves the warmth of the earth on my feet the smile of a child the coo of a baby the face lick of a puppy the blessing that is this life. |

Silence gives me peace.
I like to sit in silence and let my thoughts do it's thing and when all is said and done I can re-process. Hot baths/showers work wonders too. |
Gut wrenching, soul stirring music.

Sometimes I go to St. Jude's Shrine and just sit in a pew for a few hours. All walks of life come into the Shrine for everything from sight-seeing, to praying for a miracle, for shelter for a few hours, to just having some peace and quiet.
Sometimes I go and look at the stain glass windows, other times I go when the organists is practicing, and then there are times when I just go and sit and think. |
Children's voices singing carols like "Lully, lullay..." and "Stille Nacht" and "What Child Is This?"
It's very calming and peaceful......there aren't many things more pure than a child's voice.... |
"You can hear the footsteps of God when silence reigns in the mind."

I found an Italian singer who really calms my nerves. His name is Andrea Bocelli. He is blind, and a very spiritual man. His last cd is called "Incanto". It is pure bliss. :musicnote:

At this moment peace eludes me.

There is a prayer I say all the time. I just learned it was from the Navajo Indians.
"Peace before us, peace behind us, peace under our feet. Peace within us, peace over us, let all around us be peace.":stillheart: |
