Wiki: Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge, England, to a Welsh father, Brinley ("Bryn") Newton-John, and a German-born mother, Irene Born, the eldest child of the Nobel prize-winning atomic physicist Max Born. Her mother's family had left Germany before World War II to avoid the Nazi regime (Newton-John's maternal grandfather was Jewish, and her maternal grandmother was of paternal Jewish ancestry).[4] Her maternal great-grandfather was jurist Victor Ehrenberg and her matrilineal great-grandmother's father was German jurist Rudolf von Jhering. Newton-John is the youngest of three children, following brother Hugh, a doctor, and sister Rona, an actress once married to Grease co-star Jeff Conaway. Newton-John's father was an MI.5 officer on the Enigma project at Bletchley Park who took Rudolf Hess into custody during World War II.[5] In 1954 Newton-John's family emigrated to Melbourne, Australia, where her father worked as a professor of German and as Master of Ormond College at the University of Melbourne.[6] |
I stand corrected.

Pleasures
One of my pleasures is to wear my tuxedo at least twice a year.. to attend a musical or Opera.. and dine at a fine restaurant with the company of My sweet heart. looking forward to doing this in July.
|
I hate bananas, but love peanut butter. and almond butter. and nutella.
but most definitely NOT marmite or vegemite. :| I have one sister, one brother and two "new-to-me" step-sisters, all younger; I was the first child and the first grandchild in all of my extended families which means I *was* spoiled and I *am* bossy! I'm a gemini. ****************** Do you believe in birth-order theory? Are you typical of your birth order? Do you have pets? |
I am a Cancer
I want a teacup min pin I have one sister, 1 half sister, 3 half brothers, and assorted ex-step siblings. I do not like Marmite or Vegemite I love to dance, travel, read and swim to name a few things I like to drive with my sunroof open, windows down out in the country with music blaring. I love love love ice and air conditioning |
I love PB&nannas, but I have recently discovered that it was a one sided love... No more PB for me..
My favorite food is Spicy Peanut Noodles.... I will suffer to eat it... sigh... I'm a Gemini with all the blessing and curses attributed to this sign. I work in Hospice/Elder Care... It's changed my view on death and quality of life. I'm addicted to Househunters International. I love when they go to Italy/France or Eastern Europe My favorite Cookie is Oatmeal Raisin.. I can't spell.. |
I have one sister and i am a CLASSIC Taurus, with Chinese sign of the dog. do you have any inside jokes with just yourself? i have a tiny king's cake baby positioned on my desk where no one except me can see that he is mooning anyone who cames in my office |

There is something about the anticipation of such an event as the opera or a musical - learning that is coming to your area - the ticket buying - the planning of attire, and on and on. Sometimes the preparation and anticipation really rivals the actual event, yes? |
I loveeeeeeeeeeee House Hunters International! I DVR it when I can.
Anticipation does rock! Cookies? anything with no peanuts....total fav. Shortbread biscuits from M&S. Inside jokes with just me....I have a Super 8 ball on my desk at work and when people ask me dumb questions like how long my boss is going to be on the phone....I hand them the 8 ball. :) |

Cookies: i can eat the heck out of some Oreos, but they are actually my LEAST favorite cookie! There's no such thing as a bad cookie! Oatmeal raisin, White chocolate macadamia, peanut butter, and shortbread take turns at top honors, with a special category all its own for Fig Newtons. |
My star sign: Gemini,
I'm second eldest of 6 siblings, my favorite cookies are homemade chocolate chip/walnut cookies made with Haitian Vanilla (my mother brought me back a case of this vanilla years ago and I'm almost out of it - yummy stuff, umm hmmm - I only use it for special ocassions) My favorite cake is German Chocolate cake, I like all types of food, but I favor Mediterranean cuisine. Did you or someone ask about favorite films or TV shows? I couldn't narrow down a favorite in film but I could say that I like shows such as: The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Bones, Dexter. And British comedy! Love political satire, the most! |
Am loving all the responses here =]
|
It's a great thread Merlin, thank you for starting it!
Cake? What's my favorite? Cake! all cake. Victoria Sponge makes me squeal and clap my hands though, as does Sacher Torte and anything chocolate with raspberry! TV? Bones, House Hunters International, True Blood, Law and Order (all of them including the British version), Weeds, So You Think You Can Dance & Project Runway. Birth order? I am the oldest and pretty typically bossy. lol. Favorite airline? Virgin Atlantic Favorite drink in US: Diet Rite Cola, with lots of ice and a straw. Favorite drink in UK: Lemonade and orange juice mixed with any ice I can get. |
Cool thread--
I am not much of a chocolate fan, but there isn't a type of cake or cookie that I'd refuse except dark chocolate. At the moment, I could go for something lemon. Lemon cake with coconut icing, and lemon cooler cookies. Ummmm..... Leo, oldest of three, only girl. Not bossy, but I typically get my way. :) Only one to move more than an hour from home. Now I wish I were closer! Love Indian food most of all, but any ethic cuisine holds my interest. Love to dance, but don't get to very often. :( I'm a clinical social worker. I'm a psychotherapist working with nursing home residents by day, and children and families by night. I have two daughters, 23 and 19. Also have four amazing cats and an elderly border collie/lab mix. |
