I got it done.
I am now at 3615.
Whew, that was a relief, and it is only 11:45. Just in under the wire.

Is everyone updating their word count on the NaNoWriMo website?
Don't forget to update.

Medusa 11-03-2012 04:53 AM

I was 1200 words deep into an amazingly productive session when the keyboard went out on my 6-year-old Macbook Pro. :(

Luckily I have a house full of laptops.

Now you've gotten me thinking about it. I haven't done any writing in a while, I'm afraid. I think that one of the things that happened was that I stopped feeling secure enough, and safe enough where I live, that I could sit down and write. I need to get back to this.

Sun 11-03-2012 12:38 PM

I am really having a hard time staying focused and making time to write. Not sure what the heck is wrong with me.

The email from the local NaNoWriMo group cracked me up today. Not sure if yall are getting the same emails or if the local groups craft their own pieces each day. Most likely its all the same email but I want to share a few clips that made me laugh and got me thinking about changing directions if that is what I decide that I want to do. Mostly, I am just writing for the sake of writing, but I see that many are trying to crank out something worthy of publication. Here are a few clips:

"Well, I am here to give you something that most wouldn’t give you in this situation. I am here to give you permission. TO CHANGE STORIES.

That’s right, I am telling you that if your story is simply too painful to continue, you have my permission to start a new one."

"Or if you don’t have another idea, explore the Nano forums – check out the “Adoption Society” for stray characters and ideas that need a good home"

"But no matter what you do, do not “kill the main character with a bus and continue with a new one,” or whatever creative story-saving advice you get from the first person to answer your “Help, I’m Stuck!” forum post. This is essentially writing the same story, the same story that is giving you so much trouble. You need a NEW story, so do yourself the favor, cut the old story off where it stands, and start a brand new one."

Sorry about your Macbook. That is like losing an old friend.

Oh nooooo. I'm sorry. Glad you have backups. I'm doing mine in google docs now after having lost a chunk myself.

easygoingfemme 11-03-2012 07:54 PM

5100. On target. Brain running like a train but a little fuzzy and achy too...

Medusa 11-03-2012 08:08 PM

I trotted out and bought myself a wireless keyboard and will be back on track as soon as I can wind down.

I never knew how much I depended on the backlit keyboard until now :|

I saw this forum thread earlier tonight and decided to go check out the National Novel Writing Month webpage. I joined. Call me crazy, but I am going to give it a try and hopefully it will keep me from experiencing writer's block over the next few weeks.

As of tonight, I only have 250 words.

Tomorrow I plan to write more. Much more. :)

eta: I am Blue_Alpha_Delta on the NNWM website.

Still in the works on my novel, currently on my 18th chapter of it. I won't give too many details to my story, but I can say it involves an alter ego, a mysterious serum, and a conspiracy. It's getting really good, can't wait to have it complete!

The basics of it is that on November 1st you start writing a novel. On November 30th you stop writing.

You can not edit, doubt yourself, or otherwise stunt or sabotage your success.

Lots of details here:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/en

You can buddy up with pals on the website and share snippits of your work, share your current word count, cheer each other on, etc.

It's fun!

Who is in?

I'm in! I'm in. I'm behind in word count already, but I'm in. I'm DanzAmazon on nanowrimo.org and on Twitter for sprints, I'm "@Global_Grrl" you can buddy me if you like! I'm sprinting for the rest of the day, so join me if you like!

I am about 4000 words behind and freaking out a bit. I have distracted myself non-stop today. I need to stop and get writing.

Somebody slap me if you see me on here in the next few hours.

Ok hon, love you too!

I am so behind in my word count but determined to catch up this week!

Kätzchen 11-05-2012 09:56 PM

So far: I developed the context of the story, developed several characters and spent some time last night researching several locations,
which are featured in my story.

My word count thus far: 6799

laruss 11-05-2012 11:30 PM

I just got slapped

I got about 1500 words done.
Took a small break to brag about my awesome girls. Then got distracted by the glittery lights of BFP land and got caught. So now I have to get back to work writing.
