There is something about the bare limbs of a tree against a bleak winter sky that brings me peace.

*Mindfulness of my breath (breathe in peace, breathe out love)

Staring into the flickering flame of a fire or candle

Driving alone down a desolate road

The sound of the ocean

A walk in the woods

A starry night

Silence

Last night's Wolf Moon gave me an extreme amount of peace. I felt compelled to stand and watch it as it rose, knowing there there were so many I loved who were seeing it, too, and I felt joined with them...........appreciating the beauty of it........together.

a good woman's lovin
meditation
prayer/faith
trust
music
writing
fishing
walking
I've found a lot of ways to find peace. Sometimes it takes all of them to make me at peace though

walking; birds at the feeder during winter ; green breaking through white ; measured beats of black wings ; cogs ; instrumental pieces ; & a beautiful disclaimer

owning my own shit. I cant pass it off to others because it clings to me like saran wrap. So unless I can really see it, own it, and correct it, I am always going to end up in a tangled mess...with no peace....

and no matter where you go, there you are...so you cant run to a different local and leave it behind....

peace, like crisis, follows its mother....

Being able to trust

What gives me peace

*Listening to the rain hit my roof;

*Being outside while it is snowing and the defining silence;

*Meditating;

*Praying;

*Participating in Church, and related social activities in feeding the poor, homeless, and children;

*Caring for animals, and loving them.

Peace for Just Today

I am living one day at a time. For today I am focusing in on what makes me happy, and gives me inner peace and joy. That comes from my faith. I have meditated, and prayed. I am going to continue thru-out the day to say my prayers for peace, and to forgive others who have caused me grief and pain. I know all will be well.

I soooo needed this thread... Thank you!

Sunsets, walking at the lake (very secluded and nothing but nature around), visiting Boiling Springs PA and feeding the swans, thinking of my first 8 years of life with my "Little G'ma" and how special she was/is to me, going to visit my youngest son's grave...way out in the beautiful country with views of the mountains all around...to talk to him and meditate, taking road trips to beautiful places like Columcille Megalith Park (in Bangor PA, see pics below...), my old fashioned photography... and my puppies... :dog::dog:

I DO.....only one can give one's self peace.

FeminineAllure 03-04-2010 07:29 PM

Listening to the oceans waves roll in and out...

My cats purring

The Spa at the Borgata in Atlantic City...Just awesome.

Mint hot chocolate.

My feet rubbed with lavender foot cream

Scented Candles and watching the flame

Fireplaces light, warmth and crackles

The smell and sound of the rain on freshly cut grass

Picnics in the woods

Spirit Dancer 03-04-2010 07:29 PM

Truer words could never be spoken, I too choose peace.:praying:

I haven’t felt peaceful for the last few days. I’ve felt crushed by anxiety about work, and more importantly, by several serious health issue with my dogs. I’ve been spiraling down in anxiety almost to the point of panic.

When that happens, it can be so difficult to regain your footing. So, sometimes it comes down to the most basic things for me:

*Get a good night sleep (I mean, go to bed early, and try for 8-9 hours)

*Eat a healthy meal with whole grains & veggies (when I’m stressed I crave junk food that doesn’t involve cooking, but that just causes more stress in the body, which then affects the mind)

*Write - get it out of my head and onto the page (or screen)

*Pet the dog

That’s what I did last night and this morning I woke up feeling so much better! No longer overwhelmed I was able to see what had been there all along but I was blind to it. Hope.

With my newly open eyes I stumbled in the Spirit Dancer’s Thread on Native American Spirituality this morning and that is where I found peace today. In the wisdom posted over the last few days. The words were there all along I just had to open myself up to let them in.

Like the elephant, we are unconscious of our own strength. When it comes to understanding the power we have to make a difference in our own lives, we might as well be asleep. If you want to make your dreams come true, wake up. Wake up to your own strength. Wake up to the role you play in your own destiny. Wake up to the power you have to choose what you think, do, and say.

Prayer of Renewal

Beginnings, fresh and clean, Part of the Sacred Wheel
Each morning is a new opportunity,
To share our love, our Souls, and Spirits,
With those who choose to Walk this Path along with us,
To learn the lessons of the Wheel, and grow closer,
To The One Who- Created- All.
Each day is fresh and unblemished, clean and pure.
Look around, Rejoice in the New Beginning,
The Sun rises again, our hearts beat within our bodies,
We draw fresh Breath, and re-enter the World.
Set aside the pain of past days, each day begins afresh,
Build upon the past, its lessons and joys,
Be strengthened by the love within,
Reach out in love to those around us.
For each day is a gift, given but once.

Today is such a beautiful, sunshiney day! I found peace by closing my eyes, tilting my head back and letting the quiet warmth found in its rays of light wash over me.

What brings me peace...

Watching the sun rise & set over the lake.

Taking in the sights, sounds, and smells while looking out at the ocean.

Tilting my head back, and feeling the warm sunshine on my face.

Sittting in my rocking chair on my front porch, and watching the cotton candy colors of a spring sunset.

Taking time to nourish my spiritual life... which for me, does include smatters of childhood religious rituals sometimes. Mainly, I find peace through chanting/prayer/meditative states and being silent for a few days in various spiritual locations. I am someone that has to slow myself down in order to keep my balance.

Spirit Dancer 03-10-2010 09:37 AM

This was pointed out to me this morning

purepisces,
holding you in light and glad you found peace within our words. We're here for you, anxiety and worry are very hard cornerstones in lfe,
balance can be lost momentarily but somehow great spirit shows us calm.

what gave me peace today?well i'd have to say it was (the one will NOT remain nameless for long if she doesnt fess up soon)...she lights me up and and brings order to my otherwise chaotic universe.when she sings to me or plays me the piano,it soothes my soul and brings me what was my ever-elusive peace.knowing she's (and my beautiful wonderful kids)are there make this insane journey called life worthwhile and meaningful when i want to think its not.i love you (nameless and 3 awesome kids..maybe 5?) and hold you all dear to my heart and thank the Great Being that overlooks us that i have you all along with me on this journey.

sincererly
a thankful Tuff boi
