You might be a geek if you are scheduled to facilitate a full day retreat on communication and you realize that you don't really want to talk to all those people........

Yep. Every last one. Awesomesauce.

Also, you might be a geek if you use words like awesomesauce and amazeballs.

You might be a geek if: you're not an early adopter of technology, yet the study of technological practice curls your hyper-awareness within the framework of communication.

May the Mass times Acceleration be with you. Strange as it may sound, that day back in the mid-seventies changed my entire life.

My boss is kind of a geek too and lets us bring towels to work that day.

1QuirkyKiwi 09-29-2011 10:37 AM

Not sure I qualify as a geek - I know about Towel Day from when I lived in Austria.

I remember seeing a few episodes of the original Hitchhikers TV series......I'm not going to confess to knowing any other Geek trivia or facts...lol!

deb_U_taunt 09-29-2011 04:33 PM

You know you are a geek if:
We got some new servers at work this week and we voted in a mtg today to name them after Matrix characters.

(wistful sigh)
That is something I miss about being a sys admin, was getting to name servers on a routine basis. When I worked at a database company in the mid-90s my team and I had gotten through the bridge crew of the Enterprise (both original and Next Gen), and all of the major Dilbert characters and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy characters. (/wistful sigh)

You have decided big bang theory is the best show on tv because it makes you feel socially adjusted.

You play Facebook games on your smartphone...

SecretAgentMa'am 10-03-2011 11:09 AM

You've seen the Star Wars trilogy dozens of times, and every time you have to yell at the screen that a parsec is a unit of distance, not time. Yeesh.

Also, Han did *not* shoot first.

I used to date someone who (over)used the word "awesomesauce." I would always reply, "when you can prove to me the existence of 'awesomesauce' I will no longer dispute the validity of that word."

:)

Your RPGs are still done around a table using dice, rule books, dry erase markers, paper and your imagination.

Corollary: You *are* a geek if you've ever played a role-playing game besides Dungeons and Dragons (e.g. Traveller, GuRPS, Heroes, Toon, Vampire, Werewolf, etc.)

corollary to the corollary: You are most definitely a geek if you know what your D&D alignment is. :)

If you've ever used the phrase "That's right, I just defeated you with MATH."

Tawse 10-04-2011 04:14 PM

LOL I used to play D&D and Paranoia (I believe was the name) that game was messed up! lol

D&D wise - I played a Paladin most often (and actually in the screen shot above the character is a paladin), but I used to enjoy playing an assassin on occasion. I couldn't RP them that well - but man was it nice being an ass (chaotic neutral) to break outta the spell for a bit.

I loved Paranoia! The Computer *is* our friend. :)

I used to play monks a lot because, certainly in 1st and 2nd edition AD&D they were, pound for pound, the deadliest fighters at high level. Being able to *fail* a saving throw and only take half-damage was just too good a deal to pass up.
My other favorite character class was Paladin.

Oh and for the record. My alignment most maps to Lawful Neutral (leaning toward Lawful Good).

You know you are a geek when a good day can be had simply because your favorite author has released a new book and there's an update to iTunes.

You might be a geek if your favorite author is Terry Pratchett and you can recite books from memory.

You look at this http://colinm.org/language_checklist.html and think of new computer languages that could address some of the issues. And then wonder how long before xkcd and Dilbert will comment on it.

You might be a geek if......
You confess to liking Babylon 5 and watching the 'new' series of Battlestar Gallactica just to oggle and drool over the new Starbuck!
