i was at the library today with a certain little nine year old [daughter of friend], and found literature on a table about all the starving horses in the area of tennessee which i am visiting. i want to start a horse pet food pantry here now [i started this in my state of indiana for cats/dogs]. my heart goes out to these animals, as well as their people who are unble to find help with properly caring for- feeding- their horses. i spoke with several employees at the local library for a while on topic. very unsettling situation.

This issue is incredibly unsettling, to say the least... This economy has forced many people to abandon their animals; some do try to at least turn them over to shelters, etc. There seems to be a lot in the news related to the increase in horse/farm animal neglect, abuse, and death. The fact that politicians fear changing the laws that dictate which animals are livestock and which are to be considered pets just irks me... It's a bunch of horseshit (an old term that I love)! |

What a fabulous night last night was. Getting to see old friends (I mean, folks I've known a while, not that any of you are old) and finally putting a face to lots of new folks.
