If you're flying into Chicago's O'Hare field and are unsure of what mode of transport to take to get downtown, by all means take the blue line El train that runs right under the airport terminal station! TRUST me on this, ESPECIALLY if it's during rush hour! As you go sailing past the "parking lot" of an expressway hopefully you'll remember this post and smile to yourself!

If you're in the Seattle area, check out Pioneer Square. It's the oldest part of the city, with small shops, cafes, and plenty of sports bars!

Chicago Architecture Foundation offers a great array of tours in the windy city for anyone interested in architecture. For some reason, I couldn't get a link to their website to work to post here but it's definitely worth checking out to see all they suggest:hangloose:

They are also in So Cal. I think they have one of the more "real-ish" Italian subs than I have found around here.

homoe 09-30-2016 08:22 PM

Yes, I agree!

I'm not sure if you're a sports fan, but for the past month of Sept they have ran commercials non-stop during college football games! And then just recently, in one of my magazines, I read an article saying they are really giving Subway and other sandwich chains a run for their money!

So homoe, sounds like you like Chicago. I grew up in Indy, and moved to Chicago at age 16. Got a couple places to visit.

Chicago: Nat'l Leather Archives on Clark St.
Chicago: Ride all the "L" routes. Worth the time. ImHO, Chi. has the best mass transit system in the country. Beats out MARTA, NYC, BART, et al.
Chicago: Chicago Board of Trade (during trading) and the Commodities Mkt.
Chicago: Oak St. Beach in the summer.
Chicago: Brookside Zoo
Chicago: Picnic in Lincoln Park
Chicago: Rush St. at night
Chicago: Halstead Ave. weekend nights and/or gay pride weekend

There are way too many neat things to list. It's my favorite city, can you tell? Definitely worth a visit there. Isn't just a "if you're there see" type of city.

Indianapolis: Indpls. Motor Speedway Museum, #1 of course. Indy car racing
is awesome.
Indianapolis: Monument Circle (center of the city WWI monument) summer
or during the Christmas season. It's beautiful..lighted from top
to bottom with Christmas lights.
Indianapolis: The Children's Museum is world renowned.
Indianapolis: Drive/ride down Meridian St. to see all the 1800s mansions.
Indianapolis: Benjamin Harrison's home and that whole neighborhood that is
very historical...neat old houses.

Indy is only about 1.5 hrs southeast of Chicago on Chi's Dan Ryan followed by I-65 right in to downtown Indianapolis.

homoe 12-15-2016 09:33 AM

WOW thank you so very much for posting all those places....

If you're going to be in Milwaukee take a stroll down Brady Street. Quaint shops, food eateries of all kinds, and for sure don't pass up Peter Sciortino's Bakery!

If you're still game after cruising Brady Street, check out Downer Avenue! More great eateries, a fabulous bookstore, a hardware store that carries just about everything, and take in a movie at the Downer Theater if time permits!

JDeere 12-17-2016 08:42 AM

If you like Ramen dishes and you are in Houston, check out Ninja Ramen on Washington Avenue. Its across from Pearl lounge and side bar. I can get the address if anyone is interested.
