Heya Lipstix,

The banks are closed down here in Florida. Hope you had fun today, I went swimming for two and a half hours and had bbq'd chicken with potato salad and baked beans for lunch...

Have a good night,

Zimmy

Zimmeh 07-04-2010 07:59 PM

Hope everyone had a wondeful holiday! I am exhausted and headed to bed soon.

Good morning Kitchen Peeps,

I suspect many will sleep in today. You get today off in lieu of the holiday, am I correct?

I see Lipstix is in the house, she is probably busy making soome food, so I will just go turn on the music.

This 80's one hit wonder was one of my faves, but since YouTube disabled the coding, I'll toss it to y'all in German :D

Happy Day all

Good morning Kitcheneers, I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend. Do you all get a 'bank holiday' today because the 4th was a Sunday?

There's a pot of tea on the go for anyone that wants tea and soft boiled eggs and toast almost ready for anyone that's peckish...I'm ravenous after being unable to eat for the last 24hrs.

Good MOrning Incubus and Freyja yes we have the day off a bank holiday as you guys call it. yes some toast with eggs will be nice. How about some pancakes and waffles to go with and some strong coffee for those that need it. INcubus did you have too much to drink at the barbecue?? Is that why you haven't eaten anything in 24 hours? That is too bad that's why I don't drink, only wine on Shabbat and special occasions. Boy its hot here in the 100's today tomorrow and the rest of the week. But I rather have it hot then cold!! dogs ate already and we are ready to settle back in bed for a while longer!! see you guys later.

Yay! that you get a Bank Holiday today.

Nope I didn't *have* to drink that much, I just did sorta by accident, ashamedly so. Still today is a new day and I feel dandy again and can eat. I think I can safely say I shan't be partying like that again any time soon.

Good morning, Everyone!

Hey Zimmy, I commend you for starting college in August. You are a smart lady to pursue that path.

I am a huge promoter of education.

Thanks for the coffee - got to scoot!
Hope all of you have an enjoyable day!

Good morning all :bringcoffee: and thank you for the breakfast and music...such a nice way to wake up! I've got the day off today as well (not that I work terribly hard most days anyway :giggle: ). It's still nice to have a sleep in though.

Glad to hear you got the transcript situation worked out Zimmy so you can get back to school. I know that going back to school was the smartest thing I ever did and changed my work life pretty dramatically. Crossing my fingers that it does the same for you.

We are still waiting to hear from the bank (sigh...). Unfortunately short sales take awhile, even though the bank we're working with has a good reputation for moving them along. I had already figured on being in FL by now though...so it's frustrating for sure.

Hope you all have a great day! :)

Now I want donuts for a snack after reading that. Jo good luck with the house sale!! I know these things take their time for some unknown reason!!

JustJo 07-05-2010 03:21 PM

I am seriously debating what I want for dinner...and am leaning towards risotto...with just a little onion, mushroom, some fresh herbs, chicken stock and just a splash of white wine. :) It's addicting...

Course, Scoote will be looking for the protein...so I'll put on some medallions of filet mignon as well...steam some asparagus...make a nice tossed salad. It's hot out...so dessert is going to be build-your-own ice cream sundaes. :eating:

WingsOnFire 07-05-2010 03:25 PM

runs in and hugs everyone in the kitchen!!! YEAHHHHHHH Gosh I missed it here!! ummm... the love, the food, the coffee, the conversations!! Its a wonderful thread..

Sets out a basket of no bake cookies... mmmmm sugar, chocolate, oatmeal and peanut butter!! yuummmyy... ok now I want to make some for home...

ummmm... yucky at mushrooms... I can pick them out of dinner though.. I am a good girl at the dinner table!

Grabs a cup of coffee and plops on one of the stools... picks up a danish (hope we have those!)..... and sighs in contentedness...

WingsOnFire 07-05-2010 03:34 PM

So I took off 3 days to clean the house... but I have been wore out at work and really just need chill time.. So I am piddling.. getting little things done here and there... Maybe I can take a couple hours and power clean lol...

We went to a little inn in Eureka Springs for our belated anniversary gift to each other.. It was awesome!! But we got there late and had a wedding the next day so it was a hectic weekend...

I am taking Damon back there tomorrow for for a quiet birthday celebration.. He LOVED that place! So I am excited.. and hope I can get some work done in the house :giggle:

lipstixgal 07-05-2010 04:00 PM

Do you really need the wine. Wouldn't mind the recipe though always wanted to know how to make risotto after all I'm Italian.

There's no gay community here in NJ to speak of!! Its all about the men gay men that is. Looking to move out in a couple of months to a more of a gay community!!

This sounds so nice! I hope you have a wonderful time! :) I love funky little inns and B&B's and such. Glad to have you back, too...sounds like you've been busy, busy!

It's been hot and muggy here so I haven't gotten as much done as I planned..but got a little done at least. I'll just have to work a little harder at making progress in the rest of the week.

Hope you're all having a good evening :)

response to dark crystal's inquiry ...

dark crystal, I am just thankful not to have to wear steel toed boots and a hard hat to work anymore. That sort of work got rough on my back and body as I got older, plus the lifestyle was running me ragged. I went to college in the evenings and worked during the days to obtain a Bachelor's in computer science - graduated when I was forty years old. Best thing I ever did for myself. It has made my life a great deal easier, plus more money. And I love my job. That is why I always encourage people who show interest in education.

Maybe thats my problem too.. Its very humid... I have had problems this past 2 weeks with coughing alot.. I went for allergy testing.. they shot me up with all these needles of stuff I am allergic to... lol.. yep I tested positive to most of it... so my arm swells twice its size I have to go on prednisone.. and my system has absorbed all that crap.. lol...

I go Thursday to start allergy shots.. Hope I get better soon.. cause this cough is for the birds....

Sigh.. I want a house wench!!

Becca... who has to go back and make the bed now that the dryer has stopped...

:gimmehug: Becca ....as a needle-phobic that just sounds helllish to me...poor you!

Be careful with the prednisone too. My mother was on it for years and has some pretty icky lasting repercussions from it. Tricky, because it's kind of a "miracle drug" at making people feel better in the short term...and the negative effects come later. Do some research if you haven't already. I know that keeping the dose as low as possible helps...

Good luck! :) (and ugh...you just reminded me that I was gonna strip beds today and didn't  )

RockOn 07-05-2010 07:21 PM

MidnightBlueEyes,

Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time with allergies. I am with JustJo in that I cannot stand needles. I don't pass out or anything - they can stick me all they want but I cannot look at the needle. If it comes to you needing to give yourself shots, how will you be with that? I suppose I could make myself do it to get better.

JustJo, did you get your fair share of the donuts? *grin*
I ate a glazed Krispy Kreme about an hour ago. So good! They are my favorite donut.

Best Wishes to you MidnightBlueEyes and I hope you feel better real soon.
Brock

Zimmeh 07-06-2010 06:56 AM

Good Morning Lipstix,

I am going for an Associate's Degree in Nursing, registered nursing is the area that I am looking into. I will be attending the local community college and then I am going to try and persue my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. I will have two of them, one from DeVry and one from the community college. If I feel up to it, I am going to try and get my Master's Degree in Nursing. I feel like DC, I need an education intervention. Once I am done with college, I more than likely will be moving back to Orlando to work. The Lake Nona area is becoming a huge ass medical center with several well known children's hospitals opening...

Have fun today,

Zimmy

:bringcoffee: Good morning everyone :rrose:

I am having a heck of a day already...grrrrr....running on about 4 hours of sleep, it already feels like it's 90 upstairs, and now my work computer has locked me out and I have to wait (but still work) until 8 a.m. west coast time until the BT guys and gals show up for work. Ugh. The only good news is that I don't have any calls that require me to be on my computer this morning...so I guess that's something

Putting on extra strong coffee and a tray of danish and scones.....and going to kick the computer again. :|

Zimmeh 07-06-2010 07:00 AM

Good Morning Brock,

I have my first Bachelor's Degree from DeVry University, but the field I chose has since died and living in Florida with 17 years of work experience and a Bachelor's Degree, makes most employers push your app to the side...They told me that I was over qualified...That is why I am completely changing my degree...I am going to get my Associate's Degree in Nursing and then possibly get my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing..

Have a good day,

Zimmy
